Chapter 7 You’d Better Not Provoke Me
Chapter 7 You’d Better Not Provoke Me
Before today, the servants in this house had never disobeyed the housekeeper.
But now… Did this woman actually refute her? A sneer flashed on the housekeeper’s face before she turned around and left.
As soon as she was out of sight, Linda sighed with relief.
She decided to focus instead on her work.
At this point, she felt famished after not having anything for breakfast that morning.
By the time the housekeeper returned an hour later to check on her work, there was just one pot of roses left to deal with.
She looked at the woman squatting on the ground, tending to the plants. Linda was still wearing the clothes that belonged to Mrs. Bo and not the same maid’s uniform that she was wearing. This made her feel rather uncomfortable.
The housekeeper then raised her hand and pushed Linda. This made her fall down, causing her hands to press on the thorny rose stems on the ground. Linda could only wince in pain.
After realizing what had happened, she stared at the housekeeper, decidedly suppressing her anger. She asked calmly, “What’s your name?”
The housekeeper raised an eyebrow arrogantly. “My name?” she asked sarcastically.
“Yes.”
The housekeeper stared at her with disdain and replied, “Chelsey Su. What about it?”
Linda’s lips twitched as she tried to not let this woman get the best of her nerves.
Looking down at her, Chelsey remarked, “You’re nothing but a fake. Don’t expect Mr. Bo to stand up for you. You weren’t able to finish working on the flowers on time, so don’t expect to have lunch today.”
Her words only made Linda realize just how empty her stomach was. It was beginning to ache.
It didn’t help that she often suffered from stomach problems.
To make things worse, her condition was very serious.
Linda placed a hand over her aching belly, but Chelsey dismissed the gesture as her being overly dramatic. She shouted, “S
tand up and get back to work!”
Linda quickly rose to her feet.
She then looked at Chelsey and said, “Ms. Su, I know I’m just a servant, but you should at least let me eat. I didn’t have breakfast this morning so I’m feeling rather weak from hunger.”
With a smirk on her face, Chelsey replied, “You are so shameless. If you have time to think about food, you have time to finish your work.”
This was the last straw. Linda had to warn her, “Stop calling me fake!”
But Chelsey merely folded her arms over her chest and teased, “Fake, fake, fake…”
The steely look in the woman’s eyes was enough to push Linda over the edge. Ignoring the pain in her hands, she threw herself at Chelsey and grabbed her by the neck!
Despite her anger however, she tried her best to control her strength, ensuring that the snarky servant could still breathe.
She then said in a firm and cold voice, “Ms. Su, since I didn’t grow up as a member of the Ye family, I’m very different from those spoiled ladies. I never received protection from them as a child, so naturally, I learned how to defend myself. You’d better not provoke me again, or else… You’re going to suffer the consequences.”
Only after saying as much did Linda loosen her grip on Chelsey’s neck.
She understood that it was Cecil who was deceived by her and her family. So, of course, he had every right to be angry and treat her poorly. Although she too was mad, she had no other choice but to accept everything.
But how could these servants treat her so arrogantly? “Humph!”
After catching her breath, Chelsey looked at Linda in disbelief.
“Just wait and see!”
And with that, the housekeeper turned around and ran away.
Left by herself, Linda continued to work on the last pot of flowers.
But not long after, Chelsey came back with a group of servants. She then pointed at Linda before shouting, “Get her!”Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
