Chapter 709 Save Up and Buy Yourself a Coffin
Chapter 709 Save Up and Buy Yourself a Coffin
They arrived at a high-end nursing home in Docwood. Noah located the supervisor and said, "Hello, I’m Noah Sullivan. We spoke on the phone?"
"Oh, Mr. Noah, I've been expecting you. Please, come with me," the supervisor said and led them to the visiting lounge. Pointing to an elderly man playing card games not far away, he said, "The one gentleman in the brown jacket is the person you're looking for."
Chloe spotted a silver-haired man in his early sixties. He looked energetic and kind, but the shrewdness in his eyes told her that he was not someone to trifle with.
Raising an eyebrow, Noah said, "This person used to work for the royal family."
"What about now?"
"He hasn't appeared around the royal family for many years. He must have retired."
"Should we talk to him?"
"Of course."
Noah turned to the supervisor and said, "Could you bring him to us? We need a quiet place to talk."

Felix Pierce followed the supervisor into the chess room. When he saw Noah and Chloe, he frowned skeptically.
"Please take your time. I'll give you guys some space."
After the supervisor left, Felix asked, "And you two are?"
"Hello, Mr. Felix. We're from Exotic Star. We’ve come to discuss something with you." Noah smiled lightly as he extended a hand.
Felix glanced at him but did not shake Noah's hand. Instead, he took a seat and said cautiously, "I don't know you."
Chloe and Noah exchanged glances. Since Felix was not too friendly, they decided to get straight down to the business. Chloe took out the watch and placed it on the chessboard. "Did you buy this watch?" she asked. Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
Felix was stunned by the sight of the watch. He then stared at Chloe and asked, "Who are you?"
"I'm Luciana's daughter," Chloe said matter-of-factly, "Did you give this watch to my mother?"
"No, it wasn't me," Felix instantly denied. But after a pause, he said, "Wait, let me take a closer look."
After carefully examining the watch for a few minutes, he said in a serious tone, "I was wrong. This watch is mine. I know why you’re here. I’m sorry for everything that happened.”
"If you feel sorry, why have you been missing all this time?" Chloe pressed.
"I'm a jerk. I didn't know how to face your mother," he said as a fleeting feeling of shame washed over him. He soon reverted to his serious demeanor and said, "I'll do my best to make amends. Are you doing well now? Are you married?"
"Make amends? What can you do to make amends? You ruined my mother's entire life!" Chloe growled. She glared at Felix, and it took her all her strength to calm herself. After a moment, she continued, "Because of your mistake, my mother endured years of blame and humiliation. She died in despair before the age of thirty. And here you are enjoying your life!”
Felix looked embarrassed, but he did not fight back. "I'm sorry. I'm willing to atone for my sins. You can scold me however you like."
After all these years, he was now willing to atone? What horseshit. If he truly harbored any guilt, he would not have disappeared for so long. Calling it a case of belated action would be generous. Luciana had been dead for so many years, and though he said he was willing to atone, all he could offer now were empty words and polite gestures. It was hard to believe he felt any true remorse.
A person with even a hint of guilt would not have stayed hidden for so long.
Chloe's eyes welled up with tears, feeling deep anger and injustice for her mother. She looked at Felix and said, "Save up and buy yourself a coffin. After all, you won't live much longer to atone for your sins."
She firmly believed that evildoers would face the consequences of their actions sooner or later.
Chloe did not want to say more, fearing that she would lose control of her emotions. Understanding her feelings, Noah took her hand, and without giving Felix another glance, led her out of the nursing home.
After they were gone, Felix sped off to the royal castle. As soon as he entered, he saw Joseph sitting on the sofa. When he glanced around but did not see the person he was looking for, he asked, "Mr. Joseph—"
"He's upstairs on the phone," Joseph said, cutting Felix short.
