Chapter 685 You Insist on Courting Darkness
Eustace erupted in anger. He grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her out of the apartment to a car downstairs, indifferent to how she resisted and struggled. He then let her go and carried a girl out of the shotgun seat.
The girl was pretty, with fair and tender skin. Her eyes were round and large and her hair done up in two braids. However, her eyes were unfocused, signaling she was different from others of her age.
"Aggie, say hi to Mommy," Eustace urged the girl tenderly.
The girl seemed to understand him as she looked toward Xavia and said, "Hi, Mommy."
"Aaaahhh! No!!!" Xavia broke down and screamed as if she had been punched. She then slapped the girl. "Get out of here!"
The little girl, Angelina Hubble, made no response as if she did not feel the pain of the slap. She was still in a daze. Everything seemed to remind Xavia that Angelina was a mentally challenged child, and the girl was her child.
Xavia's face twisted in rage. Unable to let go of her anger, she slapped Angelina again. The two slaps were clear and sudden, and they were beyond description.
Eustace finally snapped out of his shock. He pushed Xavia away and enveloped Angelina in his arms. He scolded Xavia, his voice filled with excruciating pain, "Are you out of your mind?! You’re a monster! Aggie’s your daughter!”
"No, she's not! I don't know who you two are! Stop harassing me!”
Xavia ran away after delivering those cruel words. Eustace lost the last shred of hope he had for her after witnessing what just happened. Some people would never regret what they had done.
Noah walked out of a dark corner. His expression was unfathomable as the cloudy sky overhead. "You have a bright future, yet you insist on courting darkness.”
The child would never invoke Xavia's conscience and motherly love because the woman was inhumane. All she ever thought about was fame and vanity.
Eustace hugged Angelina tightly as tears rolled down his cheeks. Engulfed by a deep chill, he said hoarsely, "I know what I should do now."
It then started drizzling. Holding up an umbrella, Noah looked at the girl in Eustace's arms. He then said lightly, "I'm going to pick Coco up. You go home first."
Eustace immediately said, "And how are you getting there? The rain’s getting pretty heavy."
"Exotic Star is not far from here, and Coco has a car. I’ll go home with her."

Chloe introduced her proposal to the department staff, but they did not seem very enthusiastic upon hearing it.
"This won't work in our country. In Asvand, we need innovation, exaggeration, hot topics, and clarity." Freida hit the nail on the head and pointed out where the problems were, mercilessly exposing the flaws of Chloe's plan.
Chloe was about to refute when the other employees echoed Freida's words. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
"Freida is right. Of course, I'm not saying that your plan is bad, Ms. Chloe. It's just a matter of cultural differences.”
"Yeah, Ms. Chloe. I suggest you familiarize yourself with Asvand’s environment first."
"That's right. Marketing is making some great achievements right now, so there’s no need to rush anything.”
Chloe became vexed as she stared at the plan in her hand. She wondered if there was now a gap between her and these people because she had stayed abroad for a long time.
Noah, standing at the door of the office, gently knocked on the glass. He smiled and said, "It's time to get off work."
Chloe waved helplessly and sent the staff on their way.
Before leaving, Freida walked past Chloe. "I can send you a few successful cases for you to reference from."
Chloe was struck speechless, feeling like Freida was trying to be the leader here. Despite how she felt, she suppressed her feelings and nodded. “Sure, thanks."
"I have one condition," Freida stated.
"...What?"
"I want an invitation to Fairlight’s finance research forum happening at the end of this month.”
Chloe frowned suspiciously. "And what do you plan on doing there?"
Freida lowered her eyes and gave a bogus-sounding explanation, "I'm interested in the field."
A glimmer appeared in Chloe’s eyes as she looked the middle-aged woman up and down. Paige looked ordinary, donning plain clothes and simple glasses, but her long and shiny black hair elevated her demeanor.
