Chapter 657 Bloodstained Pajamas
Chapter 657 Bloodstained Pajamas
Chloe blinked to hide her bitterness before calmly bending over to pick up the glass. But her belly was too large, and she could not reach the glass no matter how hard she tried.
"Madam, allow me." A sensible helper immediately helped her pick it up. "This glass is dirty now. Let me get another for you."
The helper grabbed a new glass of water for Chloe, who accepted it and went upstairs.
Another helper hurriedly said, "Madam, we didn't mean what we said. Please don't take it to heart."
"Yes, we’re wrong for saying all that nonsense after what we read online.”
"Tsk! You're so cowardly. So what if we said all that? Mr. Joseph is at the hospital with Ms. Xavia right now." Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Some of the helpers were terrified, but some were full of disdain. After all, Chloe would not be smug for much longer, and they felt that they did not have to be afraid of her.
Chloe acted like she had not heard the helpers and simply stared at them. After a few minutes, she nodded, then said in self-mockery, "You’re right."
It was not strange for Joseph to be with Xavia while she was giving birth.
Chloe turned and slowly ascended the stairs as she supported her back. Walking up the stairs was tiring when her belly had become so big. There was an elevator, but she did not want to use it.
Halfway up the stairs, she took her phone out and looked up what the servants had been talking about, and they were right. The media managed to snap a photo of Joseph as he walked into the hospital. The timestamp of the article was from this afternoon.
In the photo, he wore a suit and leather shoes. Although it was merely a photo of his back, who else could it be except Joseph given this noble and charming aura? At the same time, Xavia had posted a selfie on her social media. She was wearing a special wristband meant for pregnant ladies who were going into labor.
Chloe touched her belly. She said vaguely, "Congratulations, Joseph. You're about to be a father, just as you wanted."
She stood there for a while and stared blankly ahead of her. Despite the growing darkness, she did not turn on the light. The moonlight shone in, and she felt that it was much warmer than where she was standing.
Unconsciously, her eyes started to water. She then continued upstairs and went into the bathroom. The servants had just cleaned it, so she could detect the pungent smell of disinfectant in the air.
She splashed her face with cold water that served to sober her up. She looked at herself in the mirror and forced herself to smile. However, her smile was hideous and stiff. She gave up and gave up trying to smile, opting to be emotionless instead.
Chloe moved to head back to the bedroom, but she failed to notice that the floor was wet. She stepped on a particularly wet spot, lost control, and fell to the floor with a loud thud.
The helpers downstairs heard the noise upstairs before they heard Chloe's pained moans.
They looked at each other in horror. They recalled something and were stunned.
"Oh no. I forgot to dry the floor after mopping it."
"I'll go upstairs and check on her. Call Mr. Joseph."
The former was hesitant. "I don't dare to call him. I'm scared..."
"He’ll be angrier if you don't tell him. Forget it. I'll call him."
One of the helpers went upstairs to assist Chloe.
Chloe looked terribly pale, and her pajamas had been dyed red with blood.
The helper who went upstairs was scared out of her wits. Trembling, she took her phone out to call 911.
