Today was the day when I had to go present the cake and the meal for the reception at the wedding of Maya to Killian. I was trying my best to ensure that the cake was set on the table and that the buffet was set up and all. The wedding vows will soon be over and they will be coming in here. The only people present right now at the reception ground were my team, the decorating team, and the security team but everywhere was still buzzing.
Some of the meals were not at the venue and I was barking out orders on the phone walking angrily away when a large wall stopped me and I stumbled back.
“Roberts please” I begged into the phone before cutting and then looking up to see amusement on the face of Noah.
“Rachel,” he said my name easily as if we had been friends all along.NôvelDrama.Org © content.
“Hey Noah” I shifted from foot to foot uneasily. It’s not always so easy for you to face your one-night stand right?
“What are you doing here?” he asked, smiling slightly. “The reception doesn’t start until later,” he said, telling me what I already know.
“I’m the one setting up the catering team,” I said motioning to the team setting up behind me.
“Bloom events?” he asked, shocked at me.
“Yes,” I said.
“Wow,” he said smugly. “I never thought that you were a rich person,” he said honestly.
“Well, I am,” I told him. “So what are you doing here?” I asked him “Relatives to the senator?” I pressed on.
“No God forbid,” he said carelessly.
“Why?” I was suddenly interested in why he didn’t want that.
“For starters, the daughter thinks she can walk over all of us and the wife thinks she can seduce me,” he said with a stern expression on his face.
“The wife?” I asked incredulously. He nodded at me before speaking.
“She said that she is looking for some fun and since Cooper is so old I could give her some fun,” he said as he tried to stay calm. I could see that he wasn’t
too pleased to be here.
“She’s obviously with him for the money” I muttered and he nodded. Then I remembered that the reception was going to start in -I looked at my watch- ten minutes.
“Why are you here then?” I asked and he sighed.
“Heading the security team” he explained and I nodded.
“I have to go, guess I will see you around,” I said partially meaning the last part. How hard can it be to see him again? it definitely didn’t seem awkward with us.
“See you around then,” Noah said, stepping out of my way. I made my way back and the reception started. Some woman who had a resemblance to Maya came to where I stood.
“Rachael Bloom,” she said, approaching me. She made me see what Maya would look like as a grandmother. What do I address her as now?
“Yes ma’am,” I say, giving her my undivided attention.
“I must say you did a great job,” she said complementing.
“I’m glad that you think so,” I replied.
“I have a book launch” she started “Do you think you can cater for that?” she asked and I nodded. “Okay, then I will have my assistant email you the details,
I don’t think my daughter’s wedding is the right place to discuss this” she said with a smile.
“Yes ma’am,” I said, still not knowing what to address her without.
“Just call me Kiki” she said and I thought that she was probably in love with Feelings by Chris Brown. I nodded with a smile. she walked away humming ‘Hey Kiki do you love? Are you riding’ Yep, that’s where she got that name from.
The wedding was coming to an end as all the guests had started to leave. My crew was already packing up and getting ready to leave and when the couple finally left
Everyone ditched and only the planning committee was left there. I saw Noah round his men up ready to leave the place. I took a plate took some of the leftover cake and marched to him. I tapped him on his shoulders and he turned to face me.
“Three times is the charm,” he said and I furrowed my eyes in confusion. “Never mind,” he said.
“I brought you some leftover cake,” I said, raising the plate to him.
“Thank you,” he said, taking the plate from me. “Want to take a walk?” he asked, pointing to the lawn.
“Yeah, I guess my team will clean up,” I said and we walked with each other.
“Let’s go then,” he said and I followed him. Later we were sitting on the grass as he ate from his cake.
“Do you like your job?” I suddenly asked out of nowhere.
“Of course yes” he said. “Although sometimes I meet people who are mental,” he said with a little laugh and his laugh was contagious and beautiful (and where am I getting that from) I couldn’t help but join in.
“I still dig what I do,” he said and I looked at him.
“I admire you,” I said and he cocked his head to the side.
“I know I’m handsome,” he said, putting up a cocky smile.”But you can’t hit on me,” he continued.
“I find you ugly,” I said jokingly and he laughed.
“Yeah Rachael,” he said as if he didn’t believe a word I just said.
“It’s getting late,” I said, motioning to the sunset.
“Yeah it is,” he said, finishing the cake. “Are you afraid that mommy is going to shout at you?” he said in a tone that made me frown at him.
“Yes, mommy is going to shout,” I said, taking his tone. “Let’s go,” I say standing up and dusting the back of my skirt. he stood up and did the same to the pants of
his suit.”Well I may get to see you again” he said and I smiled at him “That is if we are destined to meet” he added.
“I guess we have to wait to find out,” I said before joining my crew that had been waiting for me.
Little did I know that destiny has its plans.
