Chapter 3
I open my eyes as I take a deep breath. I don’t like that we are this close. At least he has a shirt on now. When he realizes that I’m calmer he lets go but even then he still stands very close to me and says:
“It’s serious, I’m sorry.”
I still don’t say anything, I can only look at him in anger because that’s what I feel now, anger. But he realizes this and continues:
“I just wanted to piss you off because you went and left me like that and I swear it was really hard to control myself after everything you did.”
If he is trying to make me more comfortable, he is going the wrong way, because all I can think about is what happened earlier, how my hand was inside his pants, hours earlier and it makes me blush even more. I swallow again as I remember my hand exploring his entire body. He realizes this, but continues as he walks away facing me:
“Can we start again?”
I stare at him for a while. He seems to be serious. I end up extending my hand to him and return his smile. I say after a while:
“I don’t like lying to Matt.”
He knows that I am talking about what he said happened to Matt earlier today. He then says:
“I don’t either, but I don’t think he would understand, that we shared a bed and that you did a great job down here.”
He says, looking down at his pants. It’s official, Yan does have the power to make me embarrassed in front of him. I try to disguise the fact that what he said had me disconcerted and say:
“Okay, so let’s forget about what happened.”
I give him my best smile. He replies:
“Okay”.
And he turns around and is about to head back in the direction of their apartment when he turns to me again and says:
“Well, in my case… I will try to forget about it.”
And he winks one eye. Okay, I didn’t like the effect this had on me.
1 month later.
I had to live with Yan’s presence. I’m not saying that we’re the best friends in the world, but at least he no longer says those things that make me feel embarrassed.
…
I’m on the couch in the living room watching a movie with Matt, Yan comes out of the bedroom, comes into the living room and sits down next to us. I hear the microwave tell me that the popcorn is ready. I pass by him and go over to get it. I look around the room, Matt is concentrating on the movie, but Yan is looking at me. He is wearing a black sweater with a cap that covers his head and almost hides his face.
He’s into skateboarding as far as I can tell, and that must be style. He slowly looks away, back at the TV, but not before I realized that he was looking at me. I take a deep breath. We hadn’t exchanged glances like that. I walk past him back to my seat next to Matt and it’s as if I can feel his eyes on us, as Matt kisses me quickly on the lips. Yan gets up and says that he has to take care of something somewhere and walks out the front door.
How can they be brothers and be so different at the same time? I think as I sit on the couch and they come out of their rooms, Matt finishing the knot on his tie and Yan wearing a shirt from a band I don’t recognize and ripped jeans. Matt comes over to me and kisses me quickly, he is late for work and I’m going to catch a ride with him to the mall near the company where he works as a lawyer. Yan also goes with us, he is still not studying, Matt says that he has not decided what career he wants to pursue and for now he will just work until he tries to get into a university. He works in a musical instrument store in the mall.
…
Today is my birthday, so I’m in this store, Matt told me to buy a nice dress that he will call some friends to celebrate in his apartment.
“What’s up, baby?”
I turn around and my friend Katie, who I haven’t seen in a long time, is with open arms. She comes over and hugs me tight. She tells me that Matt called her and told her to come to the party. Katie lives in another city and I loved the surprise. After we try on some dresses, we decide to go to the food court for a snack. I am distracted on my cell phone when Katie says:
“Sky, don’t look now but a hot guy is coming to us.”
I raise my eyes absentmindedly, he arrives, I look surprised and say:
“Yan?”
Katie looks at me with a surprised face, but happy at the same time to know that I know him. I ignore the huge smile she has on her face and say to Yan:
“You around here?”
He smiles and I swear Katie is going to faint now. I roll my eyes and he says:
“I just came to get a snack.”
I feel a kick in my leg and Katie looks at me out of the corner of her eye. I just say:
“Hey!”
Yan looks at me confused, I smile to cover it up and say:
“Yan, this is my friend Katie.”Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
He says hi and she practically melts as she answers back. I roll my eyes again. She says something about a series and I notice it’s about his t-shirt they are fado and I think,
” So it wasn’t a band.”
I end up laughing and don’t realize I did it out loud. They look at me not understanding anything and I just say:
“What? I’m just reading something funny here on my cell phone.”
They ignore me again and go back to talking about that TV show. After a while, Yan says he has to go. He looks at me in that intense way that causes a blush on my face, which I quickly try to cover up and leave. I take a long sip of my soda and tell Katie that we’ll be right there. I have to say it again because she is still mesmerized by him as he walks in the opposite direction. She says:
“I want him! I want him so bad!”
I roll my eyes once more and she laughs. The problem is that I don’t like what I just heard.
