I Want A Lifetime With You Chapter 575

Chapter 575

Chapter 575 Know Your Limits

After leaving the hospital, Fu Sijue went straight to the Yun residence. However, things were looking morose there, for the Yun family was worried if they would get into trouble from what happened two days ago.

They could still remember vividly what Yun Shen said when he took Shen Qianan away from the Yun residence, and they knew he meant every word he said.

According to the investigations done under the order of Yun Hao, Shen Qianan was indeed the daughter of Su Huaibei. Yet, because a reunion never took place, Shen Qianan grew up under the care of the Shen family in the capital all this while. The Shen family had always been at odds with the Fu clan and the Su family from Jiang City.

Although Shen Qianan was never doted on in the Shen family, her uncle, Shen Shixiu, did treat her well. Now that the Su family had also accepted Shen Qianan, she was under protection from the Shen and Su family at the same time. No one would dare to mess with her or the two families.

It had never been in the interest of Yun Hao to deal with such matters. However, since Yun Jing was not around, and Yun Hao was the eldest in the family aside from their matriarch, Jiang Jingyun, everyone would come to him for advice. Yun Hao was at loose ends. He sent his people to find out the condition of Shen Qianan, only to discover that there were no traces of her whereabouts. To be precise, someone had ordered a ban on any news regarding Shen Qianan.

Yun Shen was also not at home these days as he had been puttering around with his fellow friends. Thus, Yun Hao had no choice but to turn a blind eye to Yun Shen’s deeds.

Just when Fu Sijue, also known as Yun Jing, arrived home, he was met by several elders of the Yun family in the living room. Even though these elders did own some shares of Yun Group, they did not

have much right to speak up.

Yun Jing took off his coat and lay it on his arm as he casually strolled toward them and greeted, “Uncle Heng, Uncle Bei, what’s the meaning of all this?”

“Jing, you’re finally home!” Yun Hao uttered. He then ordered the housekeeper to serve Yun Jing a cup of tea before he relayed the things that happened recently in the Yun family to Yun Jing.

Despite being aware of some of the issues, Yun Jing narrowed his eyes in disbelief at the many things that had taken place while he was away from Jiang City. The fact that Fu Chengyan could identify some of his bases in no time raised his concern.

Fu Chengyan was indeed someone capable of causing harm to the Yun family, after all.

“Uncle Heng, don’t worry. Let me handle this matter. After all, the Su family and the Yun family share some good ties together. All of this must be a misunderstanding. I’ll settle it,” Yun Jing assured.

He listened to the details of every matter brought up by the elders before heading to his room upstairs. Before walking up the staircase, he got halted by the butler, who spoke up. “Mr. Jing, Old Mrs. Yun is requesting your presence.”

Yun Jing squinted his eyes and asked, “Is Grandma also informed of the news about Ms. Shen?” Dumbfounded by those words, the butler nodded his head after regaining his senses. “Yes, Master Yun. Old Mrs. Yun witnessed it when Mr. Shen carried Young Lady Shen out of the dungeon behind the artificial hill. Mr. Jing, please beware that Old Mrs. Yun has been moody lately. It’s best if you go along with what she wants when speaking to her.” Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Alright then. Please have the chef send some supper to my room.” Yun Jing nodded in acknowledgment. Then, he dashed toward his grandma’s room.

“Grandma, It’s me! Yun Jing,” he shouted as he knocked on the door.

Jiang Jingyun was reciting prayers in her room at that moment. Hearing Yun Jing at the door, she paused momentarily before answering, “Come in!”

Yun Jing promptly entered and spotted his grandma sitting on a reclining chair with a scripture book in her hands. The book seemed heavily worn out as the latter read it every night.

His gaze fell upon Jiang Jingyun. Soon, he realized that she was also sizing him up. Raising his head and slightly smirking, he walked toward her. “Grandma, what are you reading?”

“What a silly question! Isn’t it obvious what I’m reading,” replied Jiang Jingyun as her face darkened. She continued, “Jing, have you forgotten what I told you?”

“Of course not. I still remember,” replied Yun Jing. Worried that his grandma was in doubt, Yun Jing moved and sat on a chair next to hers before massaging her legs.

Unfortunately for Yun Jing, Jiang Jingyun did not buy his words that easily. She shook his hands off and shot a stern look at him. She looked utterly different from the amiable old lady she had always been. Her aged voice said, “Jing, I may be old, but I’m not blind. It’s been so many years since your granddad and dad passed away. I don’t have much to ask for now except one wish, and that is for you to live well.”

She then reached out her hand to caress Yun Jing’s face. On a closer look, she pondered the resemblance of her grandchild’s face to hers. Yet, contrary to the warm and friendly grandson in her memory, Yun Jing’s face seemed more indifferent and icy now.

Placing a wrinkled hand on Yun Jing’s cheeks, Jiang Jingyun shook her head and sighed. “Jing, it is good enough the way things are now. Listen to Grandma. Please don’t-”

“Grandma!” Yun Jing interrupted. “I’m a grown-up now. I know how to solve things on my own. Quit worrying about me!”

Jiang Jingyun’s face turned blue upon hearing what her grandson said. She lowered her head to look at the scripture in her hands. A sense of dismay glinted in her sunken eyes as she mumbled, “It seems you won’t listen to an old crone like your grandma now, huh? Your dad didn’t listen to my words, and now you’re doing the same…”

“Grandma, I’ll agree to everything you say, except for this matter!” Yun Jing uttered determinedly. “You should’ve known this. A blood feud is not to be forgotten! Did you not tell that to me all those years ago?”

“But, Jing…” Jiang Jingyun replied while her hands trembled with the scripture still in her grasp. “The girl is innocent. I saw her that day, and she was prettier in person than in the photo you showed to me. But, look how much she has changed in such a short time. Jing, are you really not aware that she is indeed innocent?”

Yun Jing’s eyes narrowed to slits. Yet, his eyes filled with hesitation and mixed feelings.

A sigh came from Jiang Jingyun’s lips. “When will this back-and-forth vengeance finally come to an end?”

“Grandma, it’s getting late. You should get some rest,” Yun Jing curtly said. It was evident that he wanted nothing more than to end the conversation.

Jiang Jingyun helplessly glanced at her grandson before letting out a long and unhappy sigh. “Jing, whatever you do, please don’t do things that you’ll regret. Ms. Shen and that kid, they-”

“Grandma, it’s time to rest!” Yun Jing exploded and stormed out of the room.

Yun Jing was messaging his temples to cool himself down when Yun Shen walked downstairs carefreely with a strong smell of alcohol on his body. Evidently, the latter had just returned from drinking with his friends.

Yun Jing stared inquisitively at Yun Shen, and the latter also noticed the gaze from his brother. With a hand in his pocket and another on the railing supporting himself, Yun Shen let out a whistle as he looked at Yun Jing, intrigued. “Jing, when did you get home?”

Yun Jing kept silent while sizing Yun Shen up from head to toe. Finally, he uttered, “Shen, when do you plan to return to the company?”

“Well, have I not always been there?” Yun Shen raised a brow.

Yun Jing was instantly annoyed by his brother’s lackadaisical manner. Nonetheless, he knitted his brows and forced himself to remain calm. “I meant resuming your work at the company, not just fooling around and doing nothing useful. You’re part of the Yun family. That will never change. Don’t you think you should do your part to contribute now that our family’s in trouble?”

“Jeez, Jing! Your presence alone is more than enough for the Yun family. I know your capabilities, and I have confidence in you! Besides, we wouldn’t want me to screw things up!” taunted Yun Shen. Resting his body against the wall, he pulled a lighter and a box of cigarettes out of his pocket. He fiddled with them before speaking once more. “Oh, yeah, Jing. Why did you travel overseas all of a sudden? Does Yun Group have any international business deals ongoing?”

The seemingly nonchalant words from Yun Shen got Yun Jing all tensed up. Thus, the latter questioned, “Shen, since when do you care about our businesses?”

“Oh, well. It’s nothing major, but someone casually mentioned that you’ve set up a new company overseas while I was out drinking earlier. That sounds unbelievable to me. After all, we’re one big

family. Wouldn’t everyone in our family know if you actually did start a new company?” Yun Shen retorted intentionally.

That instantly made Yun Jing’s eyes narrow with murderous intent as he snarled, “It seems like you care a lot about everything I do, huh?”

“Of course!” Yun Shen smirked, a sense of provocation glowing in his eyes. He then continued, “By the way, Jing. Guess what I saw the last time I went to your villa out of boredom?”

It was then that Yun Jing shot a vicious glare and scolded, “Shen!”

Yun Shen’s smile fell as his emotionless voice replied, “Calm down, Jing. I mean no harm, and you know that I’m not interested in the affairs of our family. Nevertheless, I’m curious why Ms. Shen would appear here at our family’s residence. That said, have you come up with a convincing explanation to both the Shen family and the Su family if they ask you that question?”

He looked teasingly at his brother and added, “I’m not interested in meddling with matters like this. However, as you’re aware, it means more harm than good for our family to stand against the Su and Shen family. Although I don’t have a talent for doing business, I still hope for the best for our family and myself. What do you think, Jing?”

Upon hearing that, Yun Jing’s brows twisted into a deeper frown. His sharp gaze aimed at Yun Shen. “I’ll settle this matter on my own. As for Ms. Shen, it’s funny because I heard that you rescued her?”

Yun Shen shrugged his shoulders and admitted unhesitatingly. “It’s not a big deal because I was only doing what’s right. By the way, I bumped into a mysterious figure in our home that day. How fortunate that I managed to follow that figure, or else I wouldn’t have known about the many secrets within our home!”

Yun Jing remained composed as he took notice of Yun Shen’s reaction all this while. He replied, “You’ve never cared about matters like this. So what if you’ve come to know them? You will not interfere, no matter what!”

“You’re right, Jing! I didn’t want to intervene at all. However, Ms. Shen bears an uncanny resemblance to Madam Ning from the Fu clan. As you probably know, the very look of Madam Ning makes my heart skip a beat. Thus, I couldn’t help but step in,” commented Yun Shen, who shot a deep look at Yun Jing.

“She’s the wife of Fu Chengyan!” reminded Yun Jing.

Laughter rumbled from Yun Shen at that moment. “Divorce is fairly common nowadays. Don’t you agree, Jing?”

“Know your limits!” Yun Jing barked before patting Yun Shen’s shoulder with force. He then hinted, “Since you saved her life, you should pay Ms. Shen a visit and have a nice chat with her regarding this matter!”
