I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 55

Was He Crazy?

He knew his wound would dehiscence, but he did it anyway.

Was he crazy?

She had been feeling anxious since she found out about his car accident in the early hours of yesterday morning. She had hoped to be left alone to take her time and calm down, but unfortunately, he had been constantly pressing her to have a complete breakdown.

At this moment, she was in a bad mood and her eyes were red.

Benjamin also noticed her change and wanted to say something, but Harper had already turned around and walked towards the door.

"I'll go get the nurse." She just said this, then opened the ward door and went out.

Soon, the nurse came in to check Benjamin's wound, rebandaged it, and specifically instructed, "Mr. Martin's wound cannot be dehisced again. Otherwise, it would injure his bone, and he will have to undergo surgery again."

"Okay, I know." Harper stood some distance away from him and responded calmly.

After the nurse left, she did not continue to wipe his body. She just took the water to the bathroom to pour it out. Then she washed the towel and hung it up.

The ward became quiet and silent at this point.

Benjamin kept watching her. She walked to sit on the sofa aside and ignored him.

He spoke warmly, "Harper?"

She didn't speak.

He said again, "I'm thirsty, can you pour me a glass of water?"

"No. Just drink it when the nurse applies the medicine on you, so that you don't dehisce the wound again." Her tone was calm, without any intention of discussion. Benjamin still sizing her up.

In his memory, Harper didn't seem to be angry very often. Even if she was, he could coax her with a few words. As long as he was willing to soften his attitude, he could coax her. So she hardly ever lost her temper.

She should be angry this time, right?

Benjamin stopped talking, and it took a long time. The sky outside was getting dark. Lauren and Larry hadn't come back yet, and neither had Curtis.

Was she going to stay tonight?

She hadn't eaten dinner yet, and her stomach was already growling.

The atmosphere in the ward was too quiet, so Benjamin could hear it clearly.

Harper awkwardly lowered her head.

She frowned and was at a loss.

Benjamin said softly, "Haven't you eaten yet?"

She didn't say anything.

He asked again, "Are you hungry?"

"I'm not." She said stubbornly.

"I heard it."

What did he hear?

The stomach growling?

"You heard wrong." She insisted at the end.

Benjamin's expression was kind, smiling, but said lightly, "Okay, I heard wrong. I'm not full yet. I'll ask Curtis to bring some food over. Will you accompany me to eat some together?" She said nothing.

He repeated, "If you don't speak, I will take it as your acquiescence."

Then he reached out and picked up his cell phone and called Curtis, asking him to pack the food.

Benjamin didn't eat it because it was not suitable for him now, so he specially prepared it for Harper. Harper ate while thinking. Why was he doing this? Why was he being so nice to her?

Harper had to stay and take care of him after eating this meal.

She also secretly asked Julie whether staying in the hospital would have any impact on the baby.

Julie said, "No, but it affects my mood. Why do you still care about Benjamin? He should be taken care of by Lauren."

Harper smiled lightly and said, "You're right, but we are husband and wife now. I have to take on this responsibility. As for Lauren, I think she will suffer the most if I stay in the hospital." Harper was right, because she stayed, Lauren was in a bad mood.

Although Harper accompanied Benjamin for the night, Lauren came early and brought over clam chowder made by the chef of the Pineview Villa.

She came very early, Benjamin hadn't slept enough yet.

His wound hurt in the middle of the night last night and he hardly slept at all. He didn't fall asleep until almost dawn.

At this moment, he was awakened by Lauren's arrival. He was angry.

Lauren smiled gently, "Benjamin, I asked the chef at home to make clam chowder, but there is no share for Harper. Harper, if you are hungry, you can only buy your breakfast. You won't mind, will you?" Harper glanced at her indifferently, not wanting to talk to her at all.

Lauren paused but quickly revealed a smile and said, "Benjamin, let me feed you. Try it and see if it suits your appetite. If you don't like it, I'll let the chef cook something else for you."Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

She held a spoonful of clam chowder and blew on it before feeding it to Benjamin.

"You can leave it there." He turned his head and said lightly.

Lauren asked with a worried expression, "What's wrong with you? Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere? Does the wound hurt again? Do you want me to apply some medicine to you?" "No, I just haven't washed up yet." Benjamin said indifferently.

Lauren said again, "Let me stay and take care of you today. Harper is also tired and probably has no energy left."

"You're so considerate. You keep talking about the chef at home, is that your home?" Harper smiled lightly.

Lauren froze. She lowered her head and whispered, "Are you unhappy? I'm sorry, I should have packed breakfast for you too, but I didn't know if you liked it, so I..."

"You're overthinking." Harper glanced at her indifferently, then went to get some toiletries for Benjamin.

After Benjamin washed up, Curtis came and brought breakfast.

Benjamin said softly, "You go and eat."

This was said to Harper.

She glanced at Benjamin and said nothing.

After that, Lauren wanted to continue feeding him clam chowder, but was rejected. Benjamin said, "I can do it myself. You should be preparing your comeback single these days, right? How is it going?"

"It's good. Maybe I haven't sung for too long, and my voice can't seem to be what it used to be. Am I not suitable to continue singing?" Lauren said remorsefully.

Benjamin comforted her, "No, just do your best."

"I listen to you and I will definitely continue to work hard."

Lauren smiled happily.

Harper was sitting on the other side eating something. It was delicious food, but she was in no mood to savor it.

No matter when or what happened, he always only cared about Lauren.

She laughed to herself, feeling very distressed.
