Chapter 499
Chapter 499 Courage
Benjamin had always arranged for someone to protect Harper secretly. But he never questioned Harper's every move, giving her plenty of space and freedom.
But at the moment, listening to Curtis' words, he furrowed his brows with a questioning look in his eyes. "She didn't go to the company all day yesterday?" "Yes."
Curtis nodded.
Benjamin thought, "Harper didn't mention it to me or even tell me about not going to the company."
He narrowed his eyes slightly, his eyes profound. He said faintly, "Where she went with Annie yesterday?"
"Mrs. Martin stayed at the apartment all yesterday."
It was from the people who were protecting Harper.
It surprised Benjamin even more. Since Harper hadn't gone to the company or anywhere else, and from what he knew of Harper, it couldn't have been unless something was going on.
His expression gradually became cold. He smiled wryly, "What did she do the day before yesterday?"
If she was all right and there was nothing strange about her, he would never have bothered to investigate thoroughly.
But she was too strange, so something definitely happened. Otherwise, she wouldn't possibly not go to the company or even leave the apartment. It was too rare.
Benjamin waved Curtis out and sat alone in the large office. He loosened his tie, and his face flushed with gloomy indifference.
He was so displeased that he then picked up his cell phone on the side and dialed Harper's number directly.
Upon answering, he asked Harper directly, "Where are you?"
"I'm home." Harper didn't lie but answered truthfully.
Otherwise, she would have to fill it with more lies.
There was a brief moment of silence after her words. Benjamin didn't speak again. Harper asked with some surprise, "Benjamin? Why aren't you speaking?" "What are you doing at home? Don't you have to go to the company?"
Benjamin reacted steadily and remained calm at all times.
He wondered how she was going to answer.
Harper pressed her lips together slightly. She subconsciously glanced at Annie, who was sitting across from her then responded calmly was talking to Annie. I didn't want to go to the company. I was feeling a little tired, so I haven't been there since yesterday."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
Benjamin followed her words and pressed on.
Harper thought, "He's not the least bit surprised. Obviously, he already knew. That's why I got this call."
Her delicate, curly eyelashes fluttered slightly. She whispered, "I didn't want you to worry, so I didn't tell you." "Harper, do you really have nothing to say to me?"
"Benjamin, did you misunderstand

completely relax for a couple of days. Since it's time for the
competition, I want to give myself a vacation before it. That's it.
Benjamin didn't respond to her words right away and went quiet for a brief moment.
Through the cell phone, they could clearly hear each other's heartbeats.
Then, Benjamin slowly said, "Okay, I get it."
He didn't pursue the question, much less continue to say anything, and seemed to trust her answer.
Harper pressed her lips together gently and asked in a low voice, "Benjamin, do you have anything else to say?"
He said no and told her to have dinner together tonight.
Harper breathed a sigh of relief when the call was over.
Harper looked seriously at Annie and said, "I'm getting scared to talk to him."Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Benjamin's imposing was too strong. If he didn't believe it, he would subconsciously assume that she had joined forces with Frank to create the trouble and rumors. Annie said, "Why don't you have a drink to get your courage up?"
"Honey, I'm pregnant!" said Harper helplessly.
Annie whispered, "How about I say it for you?"
"Do you dare?"
"I'm a little afraid." Annie wasn't afraid of Benjamin. But when something was going on, she was still a bit intimidated by him. After all, Benjamin was really not to be
messed with.
Annie sighed and said, "Harper, if there's nothing else you can do, why don't you send a message and tell him?"
