“Are you sure you don’t want a honeymoon, Darling?” Darian asked, his breath still heavy after their passionate lovemaking. Darian, who was initially lying on his back next to Fahira, shifted to a side position, propping his head on his hand, gazing at Fahira who was now covering herself with the blanket.
“I’m asking, honey, answer honestly,” Fahira replied, returning Darian’s gaze. Her hand gently caressed his slightly bearded jaw as he sensually looked back at her.
“Tell me!” Darian said briefly, reaching for Fahira’s fingers and giving them a gentle kiss.
“I want to go on a honeymoon, but with a condition that we have to travel and visit all the tourist destinations there!” Fahira smiled, waiting for Darian’s response, who seemed to be contemplating. He then grinned and playfully kissed the tip of Fahira’s nose before answering.
“Isn’t a honeymoon about making babies, dear? Why bother going somewhere? I’ll just keep you in the room all day. Making babies until we have a Darian junior!” Darian replied casually, landing a brief kiss on Fahira’s lips.
“In that case, we don’t need to go anywhere, Darian. Every day, you don’t even let me wear clothes when we’re in the room. Look at all the lingerie you admire!” Fahira teased playfully, making Darian burst into laughter. He embraced Fahira’s body and planted kisses on her face affectionately.
“Why wear clothes with less fabric? Besides, when you wear those, it’s like you’re not wearing anything at all. And in the end, you’ll take them off,” Darian said, feeling his desire rise again.
It had been a week since their wedding, and Fahira had officially resigned from her job. Now she was focusing on managing the household and helping her mother-in-law, Yasmin, with the boutique business. Yasmin had intended to pass the reins of the fashion division to Fahira, effectively making her the successor. Yasmin, on the other hand, preferred spending time at home with Fahira and Ariel after returning from the boutique.
Darian didn’t want to restrict Fahira’s freedom if she still wanted to work in the company. However, as a husband, he didn’t want Fahira to be overworked when he could more than sufficiently provide for their life together. He just wanted Fahira to be the reason she came home every day, to welcome her from work with delicious dishes she had created herself. This was the married life Darian had always dreamed of.
“Wait, Darian, it’s starting to feel uncomfortable!” Fahira complained as she suddenly felt pain in her lower abdomen. It was the discomfort that usually accompanied her menstrual cycle. Fahira quickly released herself from Darian’s embrace and hurriedly walked to the bathroom. Darian chuckled, seeing Fahira disappear behind the bathroom door with her innocent and naked body.
Not long after, Fahira’s voice was heard calling Darian from the gap in the door. With his head peeking out, Fahira asked for Darian’s help.
“Darian, could you please get me some clothes and underwear, and also some sanitary pads?” Fahira requested with a grimace.
“Sanitary pads?” Darian repeated to confirm that he had heard correctly.
“Yes, Darian, my period just started!” Fahira’s final response left Darian momentarily stunned. It turned out his hearing was still normal. What he had just heard was indeed true. Darian cursed silently in his heart. He had just wanted to continue with round two of their intimate time, but his hopes were instantly dashed because Fahira’s period came at an inconvenient time.
For a moment, Darian stared at Fahira before getting up and fetching the items as requested. They had just been talking about their postponed honeymoon plans, but reality didn’t match their expectations.
Fahira emerged from the bathroom with Darian already dressed. The chocolate-skinned man was sitting, leaning against the headboard, engrossed in his phone. Fahira slowly walked towards the bed, holding her stomach, and sat on the edge of the bed with her back to Darian.
“Honey?” called Darian when he saw Fahira still silent.
“Hey, what’s wrong, Darling?” Darian asked again when he didn’t get a response from Fahira. He put down his phone and approached her. He touched her shoulder, then pulled her into his embrace. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“My stomach hurts, Darian. Can you please get me some painkillers for period pain?” Fahira said in a hoarse voice, trying to endure the pain that seemed to twist her stomach. Her hands clutched her abdomen tightly, which felt increasingly constricting.
Darian immediately jumped off the bed, panicking, and lifted Fahira’s body.
“Let’s go to the hospital now!”
“What’s wrong with you, honey? It’s just period pain!” Fahira protested, hitting Darian’s chest, asking to be put down.
“You said you’re in pain!” Darian put Fahira back on the bed, looking confused. Still looking at Fahira, Darian scratched the back of his head, even though it wasn’t itchy.
Ignoring Darian’s confusion, Fahira chose to lie down in a fetal position. Her hands pressed tightly against her throbbing and painful stomach. It was a routine pain that came at the end of every month. It was something she was used to, but the pain was still exceptionally intense for Fahira.
“What should I do with this, Darian?” Darian asked, sitting by Fahira’s side. He patted her shoulder and then reached for the strands of hair covering Fahira’s pale face.
“Darian, could you please get me some painkillers for period pain?” Fahira responded with her eyes closed.
“Of course, but where, sweety? Which brand of medicine? And what if I go and leave you alone in the room? I don’t want to leave you alone,” Darian rambled on, asking numerous questions with deep concern.
“You can find them at a convenience store or a pharmacy, just tell the staff, they’ll know, Darian!” Fahira replied with her voice sounding somewhat muffled as she tried a few times to suppress the pain in her abdomen.
“Alright, Darian will go now. I’ll have Aminah bring you some hot tea,” Darian said, quickly changing his clothes while grabbing the car keys. Before leaving the room, Darian took a moment to look at Fahira’s pale face.
Darian couldn’t imagine what Fahira was going through. This was his first experience witnessing a woman in pain during her period. As far as he could recall, his mother-in-law, Yasmin, had never experienced anything like what his wife was going through. However, Yasmin often shared unique aspects of being a woman with Darian, telling him that he should understand these things to be prepared for the future. Now, Darian found himself quite puzzled. It was already 11 at night, and he hesitated to wake the household staff. Eventually, he decided to go to the kitchen and make some hot tea for Fahira himself. But unexpectedly, Ariel also came out of her room. Seeing the panic on her brother-in-law’s face, Ariel approached Darian.
“What’s wrong, Darian?” the teenager asked when they were both at the bottom of the stairs.
“Fahira asked for painkillers for her period, but I’m clueless!” Darian replied with a mix of panic and frustration, as he had no knowledge about women’s issues.
Ariel burst into laughter, causing Darian’s eyebrows to furrow. Irritated? Definitely. How could Ariel laugh when he was in a state of near panic seeing Fahira’s condition?
“Just let Ariel buy them, and you can make hot tea for Fahira instead! By the way, Ariel wants to go out to buy some internet data,” Ariel said calmly, then went back to her room to get her jacket, motorcycle keys, and money. For Ariel, this was nothing new. Every month, Fahira would go through this.
Darian quickly went down to the kitchen after seeing Ariel leave the house. After preparing the tea, he returned to the bedroom. Seeing Fahira curled up on the bed, his heart softened. He placed the cup of warm tea on the nightstand and gently woke Fahira up.
“Sweetheart, drink the hot tea first. Ariel is getting the medicine,” Darian said softly, caressing Fahira’s cheek with the back of his hand. He then grabbed a tissue from the nightstand to wipe the sweat from Fahira’s face. She remained in the same position, curled up with both hands pressing against her stomach. Darian sighed deeply as Fahira still didn’t move. However, he was sure she wasn’t sleeping. While waiting for Ariel to return, Darian sat by Fahira’s side, gently stroking her shoulder without stopping.
Soon, the sound of knocking on the door and Ariel’s voice could be heard. Darian quickly got up from the bed to open the door. He received the medicine in a white bag from Ariel and immediately returned to Fahira. Ariel followed Darian’s steps while observing how he treated her sister.
Darian helped Fahira sit up and opened the medicine bottle after reading the brand name. The brand of the medicine was instantly recorded in his mind; he would buy plenty of it as a precaution for when Fahira had her period again.
“Darian, I’m not sick, just experiencing period pain!” Fahira said softly, taking the medicine bottle and quickly drinking from it. She then reached for the warm tea in Darian’s hand and drank it to wash away the bitter taste of the medicine.
“You’re so cute, Honey. Fahira experiences this every month. Don’t worry!” Ariel chimed in with a chuckle.
Ignoring Ariel’s words, Darian’s mind wandered. He recalled that during the two years he worked as Fahira’s secretary, she would always take leave at the end of the month. It was a regular occurrence, and Darian had even scolded Fahira a few times because it coincided with her busy schedule or important meetings with clients. Yet, Fahira handled all his work for him.
“Ariel, you can go back to your room now, honey. If anything happens later, I’ll call for you,” Ariel said after enjoying the scene of the newlyweds’ romance before her, smiling mischievously. In Darian’s eyes, Ariel was being overly dramatic, but deep down, he was grateful that Fahira found someone who truly loved her unconditionally.
“Thank you, Ariel!” Darian replied briefly without looking at Ariel as she left. He simply stared at the pale face of the woman he loved.
Fahira slowly lay down and smiled. “Come here!” Darian pulled Fahira’s body into his arms.
“So, every month, you take leave from work because of this?” Darian asked, curious about the sudden realization that had struck him.
“Yes, Darian,” Fahira replied shortly, finding the most comfortable position on Darian’s arm. She inhaled his masculine scent, which always managed to calm her.
“Go to sleep!” Darian whispered, caressing Fahira’s shoulder.
Fahira nodded her head and slowly closed her eyes, trying to suppress the increasing pain in her abdomen. She let the pain relievers do their work as her consciousness was drawn into the world of dreams.
Darian stopped stroking Fahira’s head when he felt her steady breaths while she was nestled in his embrace. He sighed deeply and then exhaled slowly through his lips. “Remember, Darian, it’s a red date. The junior has to fast until next Sunday.” Darian’s heart was alarmed as he imagined the challenging days that lay ahead.
