Chapter 0060
Bethany fell silent after what Amara had said, not because she didn't have what to say, but rather because much like Amara's failed marriage, Bethany's didn't end in a good light either.
"You're right, it's not. Marriage is complicated and most times, I regret ever having gotten married, but then again, if I had never done it, I wouldn't have been able to experience the happiness and freedom I have now." "Happiness and freedom," Amara repeated, her mind drifting to her when she had been married to Tobias.
She couldn't recall a moment where she had ever been free. Sure, she had deceived herself into thinking she was happy but at some point, the happiness faded and the situation's true color came to light. She wasn't happy, just miserable, in the worst way possible.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
And it was all because of Tobias's love.
Thinking about it now, made her want to laugh, in fact, thinking about her actions in the past, made her want to laugh.
What a stupid and naïve girl she had been.
"Talk about mood killing." Bethany signed, noticing how the mood had gone from sky high to rock bottom.
"It's my fault, I apologize."
As Bethany started the car again, she casted a look in Amara's direction, frowning at a thought that crossed her mind. "Did he make you apologize all the time? Cos I don't see any reason for you to be apologizing now." Amara didn't need to think for answer, but she still did. "...yes, a lot."
Bethany sighed. "That scumbags." She couldn't believe that Tobias was more different than the image he showed in public.
Righteous family man, my ass. He's going to get bit in the ass by karma, one of these days.
"Alright, let's forget that bastard. Let's do something nice, oh, we can go shopping tomorrow. What do you say?"
Shopping? Sounded like a nice way to get rid of all the stress so far.
"Sure, let's do that." Amara smiled.
The next day, Amara met up with Bethany and they went shopping as planned. As they browsed through the list of dresses, going from shop to shop, they had fun and Amara could see Bethany was doing her best to cheer her up. "Try this," Bethany handed Amara a deep red dress. "It'd look good on you."
"Thanks." Amara took the dress and examined it. The dress was a pretty red color and had a deep v neckline. It also had a slit that ran from the ankle to the hip and was long sleeved.
It wouldn't have been her taste in the
past, but as of late, Amara had
decided to venture towards new areas. She was no longer Tobias's handbag so there was no reason for her to remain the fake person she
had crafted herself into for Tobias's liking.
"I'll go try it." Amara said, but just as she turned around, she spotted Fiona walking into the store and Fiona quickly spotted her.
"You," Fiona hissed as she stalked
closer, fixing Amara with one of usual nasty stare. "you have some nerves being out in public, acting like everything's all fine and dandy. Did you not hear what your damn threats did to Celestine? Or were you so busy fucking the entire world's population to pay attention to the shit happening in the world."
Amara's eyes narrowed. She knew Fiona was always childish and unreasonable, but for someone to be hung up on something even though she had been told otherwise, was another level of childishness that surprised Amara.
"Don't look at me like you did
nothing." Fiona spat. “You put
someone's life in danger then come
out her to chill," In one swift movement, she snatched the red dress out of Amara's grasp and looked at the price tag. "Eighteen thousand pounds? Tell me, which old bastard did you have to fuck to be able to afford this?"
