Chapter 621

The air was thick with tension as the Ashbourne family gathered, their expressions icy and resolute,

ready for what was to come.

Evadne’s gaze was sharp as a blade as she watched Avery approach, a surreal feeling washing over

her. Who would have thought that the boy she grew up with, her childhood friend and confidant, would

become her most formidable foe?

The playful nickname “Little Critter” they used to throw around in jest had become a cruel prophecy. He

had morphed into a cold-blooded monster, capable of taking a life without batting an eye.

Avery’s handsome face was stoic as he drew closer, but upon reaching Evadne, his smile was genuine,

pure, and unguarded.

“Evadne, I’m truly happy to see you,” he said, his voice light.

At his side, Thaddeus’ eyes clouded over, and his muscular arm instinctively wrapped around his

beloved, pulling her close. His protective embrace was a clear, unspoken warning- a boundary not to

be crossed.

It had been Thaddeus’ idea to let this snake into their home, but now, he felt a surge unease. of

Evadne’s red lips parted coldly, “Seeing you only makes me feel sick to my stomach!”

Avery, seemingly unaffected by her scorn, continued to gaze at her with undiminished affection. “No

matter what you say or do to me, my feelings for you won’t change.”

Arnold, leaning against a wall, felt his stomach churn as if he was about to vomit.

With a swift motion, Elvis’s eyes gleamed with a frigid light, and he flashed a dagger with deadly intent.

“I seriously want to see if stabbing him in the face would reveal how thick-skinned this lunatic really is!”

Evadne’s frown deepened, a chill creeping up her spine.

“Avery, you come straight back from abroad and show up here. What are you plotting?” Thaddeus’ jaw

tightened, his stern brows adding an edge to his handsome face.

Avery ignored him, extending his pale, elegant hand to Harvey, who was standing behind him. Harvey

immediately placed a securely protected medical steel box into his palm with reverence.

“I heard Mr. Emeric fell ill again, and this time it’s serious,” Avery said earnestly, offering the box to

Evadne. “This medication has helped many stroke patients recover back home. I truly hope it can help

Mr. Emeric.”

Before he could finish, Evadne’s eyes blazed with fury, and she knocked the box to the floor.

“Get out, just get out. NOW!” She pointed to the door, her voice quivering with pent-up tension. “And

keep your nose out of Ashbourne affairs. They are none of your business!”

“Evadne.” Avery’s eyes contracted with shock, his face the picture of wounded innocence. “I have no ill

will towards Mr. Emeric or you! I’ve just brought medicine. Even if you despise me, for Mr. Emeric’s

sake, you shouldn’t delay treatment!”

Thaddeus’ grip on Evadne’s shoulder tightened, his icy gaze piercing Avery. “Mr. Emeric’s condition

isn’t that serious. Don’t alarm Evadne with your scaremongering. She’s his daughter; she knows how to

care for her father better than any outsider like you!”

The Ashbourne boys and Suri nodded in agreement.

Elvis, ever blunt, leaned against the wall with a scoff, “Besides, Mr. Avery, who knows if what you

brought is a cure or a curse. I’m really afraid Mr. Emeric won’t see tomorrow’s sun or the beauty of his

three wives.”

Suri, used to the young man’s jokes, wasn’t bothered. Cassius and Arnold, however, shot their brother

annoyed glances, half-tempted to gag him with their socks.

Thaddeus’ voice was low and thunderous, “Take your people and your things, and leave. Or else, I’ll do

more than just talk.”

Avery adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, a flicker of malice crossing his eyes.

“Mr. Avery, you’ve come all this way, knowing full well that my cousin and her husband are deeply in

love and talking about their second wedding. And yet, you persist in this futile pursuit.” Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

A mocking and melodious voice rang out.

Everyone turned to see Chasel, clad in his white lab coat, strolling in with an easy smile.

“I’ll take the sentiment on their behalf,” he said, catching Evadne and Thaddeus by surprise.

Cassius studied Chasel’s sly fox-like eyes, wondering at his intentions.

Chasel came to a stop in front of Avery, smiling as he opened his hand. “Leave the medication, and

you can go. Any more loitering would be impolite.”
