His Ex Wife Is A Billionaire

Chapter 179

Chapter 179

Chapter 179 When Thaddeus pulled up to the BBQ joint, Evadne and the man had already skedaddled. He clamped his lips together, his face stiff at the memory of that photo of Evadne and the guy getting all cozy. Standing there, he felt like such a chump. He was worried, but also doubting himself. Evadne had been eating at this sketchy place past midnight with a guy who seemed dodgy as hell. Didn’t she have a clue how dangerous that could be? Suddenly his phone buzzed. It was an unknown number. Thaddeus exhaled and answered, “Who’s this?” “Is this Mr. Thaddeus?” Came the female voice from the other end. “Yeah, it’s me.” “This is the Eastern District Branch of Elmsworth Public Security Bureau. Is Gordon a relative of yours?” Thaddeus frowned, “He’s my secretary. What’s up?” “We need you to swing by our office. We’ll fill you in when you get here.” The events of the night could only be described as surreal. As his car sped down the street, Thaddeus’ mind raced. He was unable to fathom how Gordon, who wouldn’t hurt a fly, had ended up in the police station. Thaddeus hurried into the police station, bumping into a tall handsome man in a black leather jacket. The same guy from the photo, getting all touchy-feely with Evadne! Aaron also spotted Thaddeus, his eyes practically lighting up, seeing right through him. A smirk flashed across his face as he asked, “You’re Thaddeus? Here to bail out Gordon?” Thaddeus gave him a cold look, “What’s it to you?” “Hah, that’s a funny question.” Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Aaron chuckled, “I’m the one that brought him in. How could it not concern me?” Thaddeus scowled, “Is this some sort of revenge?” “Revenge?” “You’re getting back at my secretary because he found out about you and Evadne, right?” Thaddeus was pis sed. He couldn’t see past the young man in front of him, thinking he was just pursuing Evadne. Hearing this, Aaron laughed, “You being a CEO with that kind of IQ is a true miracle.” Thaddeus bit back, “A ‘service industry’ guy strolling into a police station and playing the victim, I really admire your guts.” Aaron was taken aback. What the hell was this guy talking about? ‘Service industry’? Did he look that frivolous? On the contrary, the one who’d hurt Evadne, with his pretty face and buff body, could probably fetch a good price! Just then, two policemen happened to pa** by, saluting as they saw Aaron. “Captain Ashbourne!” “Hmm” Aaron responded with a nod and a smile. Thaddeus held his breath, staring at Aaron in disbelief. This young man wasn’t some thug. He was a cop? Captain Ashbourne? Evadne Ashbourne? On closer inspection, Thaddeus found those big bright eyes and chiseled nose and jawline seemed oddly familiar. “Aaron!” Thaddeus suddenly froze as a pleasant and familiar female voice sounded behind him. How many sons did Emeric have? Wasn’t he afraid of a family feud in his old age? Slowly turning around, he saw Evadne standing a few steps behind him, giving him a cold stare. “Evadne, why are you here?”

Ignoring Thaddeus, Aaron quickly walked over, “I told you I’ve got this. You just need to rest.” “No, I have to handle this myself.” Then Evadne turned to Thaddeus, her cold and distant gaze making his heart sink. Since the divorce, she’d always been this cold towards him. Before, he felt more resentment, but now, it was fear. Deep down, he didn’t want to see her treat him like a stranger. He’d rather she hate him, hit him, bite him, anything but this indifference. “Evadne.” He croaked out her name. “Thaddeus, let’s talk outside.” Evadne shot him a cold look before turning to leave. Thaddeus’ gaze followed her retreating figure, eager to catch up, but was stopped by Aaron. “Hey, cold-blooded CEO. I’m warning you, we are at police station. If you mess with my sister, I’ll slap cuffs on you.” “You’re an Ashbourne, then you must know about me and Evadne.” Drawing a deep breath, Thaddeus suppressed his rage and shot back, “When she was my wife, we respected each other. Now, you have even less reason to be overly concerned.” “That remains to be seen. Aaron scoffed, “In cases I’ve handled, men who stalk their ex-wives after divorce are either psychos or killers. Never a normal one.” Thaddeus was left speechless. Back in the secluded area behind the station, Evadne and Thaddeus stood face to face, their shadows stretching out under the dim light. “Thaddeus.” “Are you drunk?” Without waiting for Evadne to finish, Thaddeus stepped closer, his large frame blocking out the remaining light. Caught off guard, Evadne moved back against the wall as he bent down to smell her hair, murmuring,

“This man is strong. How much do you think you can handle? Remember that night at the KTV when you got plastered? In our three years of marriage, you never touched a drop.” “My tolerance is good. I never get drunk. I’ve always loved drinking, life is dull without it. You just never really knew me.” Evadne’s eyes flashed coldly, and she retreated a step back against the wall. “That’s because you’ve never shown me the real you, and you’ve never been completely honest with me.” Thaddeus took a step closer, his heart filled with bitterness. “Thaddeus, you’re quite the expert at playing the blame game, aren’t you?” Evadne tilted her head, her red lips gleaming, making his throat tighten. “Have you forgotten what kind of person you were and what kind of husband you were? Even if I had opened up to you back then, you wouldn’t have bothered to understand me. You were so fed up with me. Why would I show you the real me and give you more reasons to dislike me?” Now, she could say these things without a care in the world. But each sentence stirred up a storm in Thaddeus’s heart. It turned out that all her pretenses were to please him. Yeah, what woman didn’t want to put her best foot forward in front of the man she loved? Just like Acacia once played the innocent in front of him, pretending to be naive and even faking depression. It was all just to hold onto his heart. Thaddeus was belatedly realizing just how poor Evadne had been then. Acacia’s fake affection and gentleness were to control him and satisfy her own desires. And Evadne was only pretending to be alright so he wouldn’t loathe her. Thaddeus felt his heart undergoing a painful torment, his eyes reddening. Just as he was about to say something, Evadne coldly said, “Thaddeus, I know why you had Gordon tailing me. Ada’s wedding is approaching, and I’m your biggest competition now. You want Gordon to spy on me and to monitor your business rival. I can understand that. But hasn’t the Abernathy Group already won the first battle? Ada chose to attend your welcome party, right? So why are you still having Gordon tail me and even sneak photos of Aaron? That’s pretty low, don’t you think?” That’s pretty low.
