His Cure

Let’s celebrate Christmas together

..

“Did I die, for a moment?”Annabella joked.

Tears flows out of Beatrice’s eyes, streaming down her face.

She sat down on the chair and held on to Bella’s hands.

“Mom..”she called, tearily.

“You didn’t die, Mrs Buckley, but, you did die too.”the doc responded and slipped out of the ward.

The sound of his laughter echoes in the lobby, so, that was a joke, definitely.

Beatrice took a heavy breath out.

“I wonder if he is part of the patients with mental disorder sometimes.”

“Well, I heard if one get too involved with someone, one might get influenced by their behaviors. He deals mostly with people with mental problem so I guess he has been influenced.”

Beatrice burst out into a round of laughter.

“Mom!”she laughed.

“I’m quite serious though. He is an upcoming lunatic.”she cracked up.

Beatrice’s eyes went over to the wall clock and she gasps.

“Why is the time so fast???”she whined and sprang up from the seat.

“Huhh?. Any problem??. You didn’t come visiting yesterday and now that you’re here, you’re worried about time when it’s only been few minutes?. This is your first.”

Beatrice gave a nervous chuckle.

“Mom.. I.. I now have a job.”

Annabella’s eyes lightened up in satisfactory.

“You now have a good job?. I’m happy for you, dearest daughter. Now, all you need is a man.”

Beatrice frowned.

“Come on, Mom. Not now. I have to focus on you. I..”

“Just forget about this oldy woman here, and live your life. Leave me to go rest in peace, Beatrice. Find yourself a good man.. oh, oh, I almost forget.. you have one, Daniel. I think all that remains now is to make it official. I have only few weeks to live and the least you can do for me is to make me see you happy – Get married, have kids, though…”she paused and gave a sad laugh.

“I might not be able to hold my grandchild, but I can still feel him or her in your stomach.”

“Stop all these, mom.. I am going to save you, whatever it costs me, I will do, as long as you would be fine. I can’t leave you to death’s gruesome teeth. No, I won’t allow it snatch you up from me. Mom, it’s August now.. stay with me.. let’s celebrate Christmas and New Year together. Many of that.”she spoke softly, her voice shaking in fear.

She sniveled and wiped her nose with her hand.

“I already have the money for your surgery. Mom, our good days are in sight. We will laugh together again, eat chicken together, dance together and..”she paused and sighed.

“Silly girl. Don’t waste your hard earned money on me. The doctor said it’s fifty/fifty. What’s the assurance that I’m going to survive if you pour all your life money on me?. Besides, I’ve lived enough years. Fifty six years is a lot too. Let me go rest.”

Beatrice scoffed.

“I’ll save you.”she stated with a tone of finality.

“I have to get back to work now. Goodbye, mom. I love you.”she kissed her both cheeks before rushing out of the room.

When she got out, she cried out her eyes.

Only good people die. Why?!

Why do the cruel ones have to live so long while the good ones, die?

She cleaned her face.

She won’t let that theory apply to her own mom.

Even if it will take greater efforts to save her, she will do that.

Even if she has to have a night stand with a billionaire, she will gladly do that.

She laughed her thought off.

She was on her way to the doctor’s office.

With the money Gregory gave her, or should she say, her salary?, she should be able to save her dying mom without going dirty.

She opened the door and got in.

“Miss Beatrice! Welcome to Heaven!!”she heard a loud voice say.

Her heart skipped and she looked up.

Heaven?

Did she got herself involved in an accident?.

Oh, no. Did she actually left the living realm before her mom?

She vowed to save her!!

“Hahaha, I was only joking.”The doctor convulsed.

Beatrice slapped her face loudly.

“Come on, doctor! You can’t keep making upmarket jokes like that! I thought I already left the living realm.”

He laughed so hard that he almost fall off his chair.

“Pa.. pardon me, miss Beatrice. I love joking around. That’s the only way to survive the brutal reality.”he sat properly before grabbing a loaf of challah bread and taking a huge bite out of it.

“And, actually, Heaven is also a living realm, an eternal one. Do you want more information on this?. Perhaps, I can feed you more with some verses in the Bible before you.. “he munched noisily on his food.

Beatrice watched as his nose moved as he speak on.

“No, thank you. Let’s talk about..”© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

He burps and carried up a cup of cappuccino coffee and drank a great amount of it.

“Now, you’re the devil’s baby, Miss Beatrice?”he whooped up.

Beatrice wrinkled her face up in disgusts before going to sit down on the seat before him.

She was going to wait to get invited to do that first, but since the man here seems to be so unconventional, she decided to be that, for that moment.

She settled everything concerning the surgery hurriedly as she feels quite uncomfortable around the too – joky doctor and for the fact that the black and white man gave her only thirty minutes which she has long superseded.

She walked back to the garage and saw him already looking out for her through the open window.

She got inside the car and sighed.

“You’re twenty minutes late, miss.”he remarked.

She chose not to reply him.

She buckled her seatbelt and relaxed back in the seat.

Gregory started the engine and drove out of the building.

He is not going to ask about the condition of her mom?.

How good.

He is not even going to tell her why he suddenly left?. All good.

But, all that was out of her concerns though.

“So, how is your mom?”he suddenly asked.

She turned to him.

“Well, better.”she gave a little nod before turning back to the front.

Shouldn’t he at least ask how she is coping?

She shook her head.

This narcissistic man?

“And, how are you coping?”he questioned to her utmost surprise.

“Do you read minds now?”she turned to him, wide – eyed.

He spared her a glance before chortling.

“Of course not.”

She scoffs before leaning back to her seat.

“I didn’t know you could be soooo nice…”

“There are too many ‘o’ behind that. Just say nice. Put it in that way. Forget about that.. you’ve been imagining me asking that all these while?”he teased.

“Heck no.”she barked.

“Well, calm down. I am acting all nice because I need your help.”he said bluntly.

A frown crawls his way up to her face as her brows creased up.

“I knew you can’t be so nice.”she gruffly let’s out.

He chuckled and turned into a right corner.

He stared at her beside him and utter the most insane words ever.

“Marry me.”
