Compensate me
…
Amelia’s eyes brimmed in euphoria and she gave a satisfactory smile.
She picked up a berry from the plate in front of her and drop it in her mouth.
“Let’s see how you deal with this, Gregory. I should really reward this reporter. He is a brilliant one.”she crunched on the berry slowly but excitedly.
..
The room went into a state of serenity.
Only the sounds of the cameras could be heard.
Numerous lights were beamed on their faces and slowly, a streak of sweat rolled up from Gregory’s back ear and down to his neck, seeping inside his shirt.
Beatrice’s heart palpitate in shock.
“Mr Gregory?”the reporter called, temptingly.
Gregory suddenly wish he could punch him on his face.
Harry blinked his lashes rapidly. He turned to Gregory.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
He didn’t know Beatrice was a writer to him. He thought she was just a maid.
Gregory took a deep breath in and brushed his hair back and smile.
“This is a personal..”Harry tried to cover up but Gregory raised up a finger at him, signalling him to stop.
“That is true.”he responded into the mic.
The reporters started chatting indistinctly.
The clanking of the keyboard, the constant flashing of lights and the chatters overwhelmed the hall.
Beatrice stared at Gregory, dumbfounded.
What is he trying to do?
Definitely, their marriage being fake wouldn’t be far from the search light of the reporters now that they know about her identity.
‘Do you agree also that you’re suffering also?’
‘What will happen to Winslow Global then?’
Different questions floods in.
Gregory smiled gently.
“I wouldn’t want us to panic. I must say, reporter… what is your name?”he asked the guy.
“Frank.”
“Reporter Frank, I must say, that’s a.. stupid question you’ve got there. It seems you’re just too eager to let out the information you got without properly deliberating on it. She is an author, yes. That’s her occupation, her passion. Does you being a reporter means that your wife or girlfriend is suffering and he needs to keep you close to herself?. I won’t tolerate such questions from you and miss Sandra or any other reporters in this room anymore.”
“But I heard she only got to your house days ago, maybe a week plus but you.. have suddenly develop an intimate relationship?”Frank scoffs and puts his pen on his ear.
Gregory laughed and clamped his hands together.
“Okay, I see this is going to be a long one. Here’s a question for you. Did your girlfriend moved in with you the very day you started dating?”
“She only came over after a month.”frank retorted without much thinking.
“That is it.”Gregory chuckled.
Frank pulled up a frown on his face.
“You still don’t understand?. We’ve been dating for some time before she decided to come over and stay with me.”
Frank face drowned up in embarrassment and defeat.
A light smirk appeared on Gregory’s lips.
..
After about thirty minutes, the press conference came to an end.
The reporters all stood up and started packing their tools.
Beatrice took the moment of Gregory’s distraction to slip out of the hall.
She hurried towards the elevator and got in.
She clicked on number three on the number pad in the elevator and it shuts.
She punched her chest and coughed.
“That was close. Ugh, never a moment at the center of the paparazzi would I like..”she breathed out.
She brought out a beanie from her bag and puts it on.
The elevator stops and the door sprawled open and..
“Oh, who do we have here?”Zack tilts his head to the side and inserts his hands in his trouser’s pockets.
Beatrice bent her head and swallowed hard.
“I’m afraid you’ve got the wrong person.”she nimbly tapped on another button in the elevator, trying to escape from him.
He puts a hand in between the door before it could close and sigh.
“Is that how you show appreciation to the man that saved your ass?”he scoffs.
The door opened back and she slowly raised her head up at him.
“Wow! It’s you?!”she feigned surprise, placing her slender fingers on her mouth.
She stepped out and grinned.
“Thank you for saving me the other day. I appreciate.”she bowed slightly and tried to walk away.
“Uhm?, just that?. You’re not going to try to compensate me or anything?”he giggles.
She glanced at him and smile.
“Sure. Gregory is still in the conference hall.”
“What?. What am I supposed to do with that?”
“Huh?. Aren’t you here to see him?. I just leaked a secret to you right now, you know.”she said in a whisper as she blocked the side of her mouth with her hand.
Zack stared away from her and laugh.
Beatrice looked at him, innocently.
“If that’s all. I would like to go now. It’s nice talking with you.”she took a step forward but he gripped her arm, pulling her back.
He removed the beanie from her head.
Beatrice gasps and quickly fred herself from him.
“Okay.. what do you think you’re doing right now?”she glared at him and tried to snatch her cap from him.
“Oh – oh, not so fast. I will keep this, as a ‘thank you’ gift.”
“But that’s my cap.”she whined.
“More reason you have to bestow it to me.”he stretched his lips out in a smile.
“B.. butt..?”she sighed and ran her hand through her hair tiredly.
“Fine! I belief I am not in your debts list anymore. That settles it, right?”
“Of course, it does. I will take care of your pink beanie, don’t worry.”he winked and opened the elevator.
She sucked a breath in and threw some blows at his back.
She walked to the direction of Gregory’s office.
She caught the secretary throwing daggers at her with her eyes and Beatrice rolled her eyes.
“Get me a cup of coffee.”she ordered just to provoke her the more.
“I only nurture the boss’s order.”
“Even if I am the wife of your boss?”Beatrice raised a brow at her.
The secretary groaned in anger before standing up begrudgingly from her seat.
“Which flavor?”
“Get me two cups of cappuccino coffee. One should have milk and one shouldn’t. Be here in.. ten minutes.”she let’s out a smile.
The secretary frowned.
“Okay, ma’am. What about the money for that?”
“If your boss asked you to get him coffee, would you demand that from him?”
“He hasn’t for once asked me to get that for him.”
“So what’s your stress now?”Beatrice narrowed her gaze at her.
“Nothing, ma’am.”the secretary huffs lowly before walking away.
