Chapter 42 Epilogue
Two Years Later
“Are you going to the shelter again?” Ian greeted his beautiful wife as she passed him the pancake.
“How do you know?” she kissed her husband who was looking handsome in his navy suit.
“Your jewelry, the engagement ring. You never wear them when you go there aside from the little amulet Shani gave you years ago.”
She laughed at her husband’s simple deduction and sit her jeans-covered ass on his lap.
“I don’t have a lot of time.” He said looking at her while caressing her cheek lovingly.
“I know, I’m putting an image in your already dirty mind. I’m enticing you to come back earlier from the court.”
Ian was taking the stand that day for one of the country’s most highlighted serial kidnapping and murder cases. It was taking his career and accelerating it after he was almost demoted to detective sergeant by internal affairs since his case with Garcia.
She on the other hand was committed to a mental hospital by her family. She was apparently under a lot of pressure and had been a victim of child abuse for almost a decade. He had visited her once and was told not to come back since she was embarrassed with herself. She looked terrible, very pale, and underweight. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for her, and that was exactly why she had told him to go.
“Blair baby, you don’t have to do anything. I always spent my mornings looking at your naked body while you’re sleeping.” He kissed the side of her neck and she sighed.
She was still cozying up in his arms when her phone buzzed.
“It’s mom, she’s almost here.” Blair hurriedly got up and gave Ian a chaste kiss, he smiled at her and commented how quickly she was gone just with just a phone call from his mom.
That morning was spent by him going to the court and Blair going to the shelter with his mom. They had been going to shelter and helping out as much as they can, they even funded a couple of new shelters for abused women with the help of Carol’s acquaintances.
She has been very pleased with her life. She married Ian married a year ago at Taylor’s residence. Everyone was there, the Dubois and their cowboys, also Emilie and Max, and even Rebecca.
Everything has been perfect up until that dreadful afternoon. She was about to go home and was waiting for a taxi since Carol had another appointment and taking the driver back with her.
That was when the assailant pushes her down to the alley and told her to give him the purse. She did just that and then he took her amulet with him thinking that it was valuable. Obviously, he was in a hurry and leave her shocked and trembling in the alleyway.
A few minutes later one of the homeless recognized her and helped her back into the shelter where she calls Ian and he picked her up half an hour later.
“Hey, how are you doing?”
Blair was silent and was not teary at all and that fact was making him worry more. They had stopped at Max’s clinic to have her checked out by Rebecca and she was making her take a blood test and all the complete works for just a couple of bruises and scrapes from the fall.
Ian even called Shani the witch who summons and gets rid of Benjamin’s entity years ago. Shani told Ian that Blair was actually good without an amulet. She said that her husband’s evil spirit had been placed back to his dimension months after their last meet. She apologized for not letting them know.
“Mom?”
“Oh my God, Ian! I’m sorry, I should take her back before I leave and not let her take a taxi in that area.” Carol hugged him and said that she wanted to see Blair. But then both of them were called into the examination room by Rebecca, where Ian could see his wife was still lying down on the examination bed. His heart beats faster truly scared of what was happening to the love of his life.
“Ian, Mrs. Taylor please follow me.”
Ian was to her side taking her very cold hand in his and he kissed her forehead. He whispered and told her that he loves her. Carol was by the foot of the bed anxiously waiting for what the doctor was about to say.
“So, it turns out that our Blair here is pregnant. And she’s afraid that she was going to lose the baby because of the fall earlier. But I have checked and had referred Blair to a gynecologist she has an appointment with her tomorrow. But if you’d like to sit down, we could hear the heartbeats. She’s eight weeks into her pregnancy by the way.”
Ian smiled widely at her then hold her hand tighter, and that was when her tears fall. They had been trying for a year, though it doesn’t seem long she was doomed by several gynecologists saying that she would have difficulties in conceiving since the baby incident she had with Benjamin.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
That was also why she had been concealing the fact from Ian for the last couple of weeks, and when the mugging happened she was even more afraid because of the fall.
“Wait, you said heartbeats?” Carol chirped from the end of the bed looking like a very happy grandmother to be. And in seconds she got her answer when Rebecca raised the volume and they all listened to two strong steady heartbeats when she does an ultrasound on Blair’s lower abdomen.
Ian looked at the monitor and then looked at Blair with his glassy eyes, then he kissed her and told her that he loves her. She could feel his tears trailing down her cheek and she smiled at him.
“I love you more.” She said wiping his tears and pulling him down for a chaste kiss.
Carol was busy conversing with Rebecca asking about her condition until they were all getting back to his parents at Carol’s request who was feeling guilty for the mugging incident. And Blair being the nicest person was complying with Carol’s request while Ian asked her if she wanted to go home and rest instead.
“We could stay the night there Ian, it’s been a while and I don’t want her to feel guilty.”
“… you are the best wife, thank you baby… and we will go through this together. I’ll be there throughout the pregnancy.”
Ian had never felt happier in his entire life.
He has his beautiful loving wife, and he was going to be a dad to not one but two babies. His career was back on track, Blair had come to love him for being someone who helps others. And she understands that his job was a means for him to achieve that.
Blair was thankful that she was given a second chance. She was glad that Ian had found her. She never knew that someone could love her as much as Ian and she was loving him more because of that.
That day was the happiest day of her life, though at first, she was speechless because of it. She couldn’t believe that she finally has the chance to have children with him and grow old together.
She was going to have the one thing she wanted the most, her own loving family. And she knows that with Ian’s past this would be his retribution to his biological parents.
They finish dinner and retreated to Ian’s room. He was wrapping her in his arm and pulling her close while caressing her still a non-existent baby bump.
“I love you.” He kissed her lips sweetly.
“I love you more…” she sighed feeling her whole future hugging her and two more growing inside her.
That night they made the sweetest love, that night both cherish one another equally sensually, both love each other in their beautiful way. Until both climaxed seconds apart while professing their love for each other. Eternally.
