"A trial period?" Freya Davis asked with a raised eyebrow.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Ryan nodded and replied, "Yes, Ma'am. I know nothing I say right now will make you change your mind about me. So, I'll show you that I'll make your daughter the happiest woman in the world." "And you only need thirty days to do that?" Freya questioned. "What if you're just pretending in that thirty days?"
"I can never pretend with Lora... I love her. I may have realised too late that she was very important to me, but I'll make it up to her for the rest of her life," Ryan proclaimed.
Freya sighed, her brows creasing. She looked at Ryan and studied him intently before her gaze softened ever so slightly.
"I see," she remarked. "Since you're offering thirty days to prove that you're worthy of my daughter, I'll give you a chance."
Ryan's eyes lit up but before he could respond, Freya added, "But... If you fail to make Lora happy or if you hurt her again, I want you to leave her alone forever and never bother her again."
Ryan gulped, his heart pounding. He nodded confidently and said, "I'll make sure she's happier than ever... I'll never leave her alone, so I have no choice but to do all I can to put a smile on her beautiful face." Freya got to her feet but before she could leave, she glanced at Ryan and uttered, "I'll be watching you."
When Ryan went back to the main living room, he found Lora anxiously waiting for him.
She glanced at him and asked, "What did she say?"
"It's a secret," Ryan replied and Lora arched an eyebrow.
"Seriously?" Lora remarked.
"Yes... it's a secret. But for now, she's given me a chance, so I have to make the best of it," Ryan said.
Lora squinted her eyes at Ryan. However, since he didn't want to disclose what he had talked about with her mother, she had no choice but to change the subject.
"Ok, Mr Kingsley, you should head home now. I have to finish up a VIP client's design tonight," she responded.
"Any chance I can see the kids before I go?" Ryan requested. "I know they are sleeping by now but since I'm now your boyfriend and husband, I need to at least give them kisses." "You're my boyfriend and husband?" Lora asked, arching an eyebrow.
Ryan smirked and said, "Of course. We are starting over, aren't we? With that being said, will you go out with me tomorrow?"
Lora's lips twitched before curling into a smile. She asked again, "Is Mr Kingsley asking me out on a date?"
"Yes, I am," Ryan replied firmly. He looked into Lora's eyes and said, "Go on a date with me, Lora."
Lora blushed at the intensity of Ryan's gaze. She bit her lower lip, pretending to be thinking about it before she replied, "I will."
The next day, Ryan arrived at the Davis mansion to pick Lora and the kids up.
Ella rushed to hug his legs. Looking up at him, she asked, "Daddy, Mommy keeps smiling, has she forgiven you?"
Ryan smiled and picked Ella up before twirling her around in the air. The little girl giggled excitedly, her sweet laughter echoing in the area.
"Yes, your Mommy has forgiven me," Ryan replied, a huge grin on his face.
"So, when is the wedding?" Ella asked and Ryan let out a low chuckle.
"I'll propose to your Mommy very soon but let's keep this as our little secret, ok?" Ryan remarked.
Ella nodded and made a zipping gesture over her mouth with her fingers.
"What are you two talking about?"
Lora's voice grabbed Ryan and Ella's attention. She came out of the
mansion with Ethan who frowned when he
The saw the mischievous smile on his sister's face.
'What are Ella and Daddy up to?' He mused.
"Nothing. We were waiting for you, Mommy," Ella replied innocently and Lora nodded.
"I'm sorry, I forgot something," she replied.
When the kids were dropped at school, Ethan grabbed his sister's backpack to stop her and remarked, "Spill. What are you and Daddy hiding?"
Ella giggled. She looked at her brother and answered, "Mommy forgave Daddy and Daddy wants to propose to her."
"Really?" Ethan asked, a rare trace of excitement flashing through his eyes.
"Yes!" Ella replied. "We should help him surprise Mommy."
Ethan nodded. "You're right. We can ask Big Grandpa for help and make Mommy's day when Daddy proposes."
Meanwhile, after Ryan left Lora at the company, she went straight to the conference room since one of the board members had called for an emergency meeting. When she found out that it was Craig Hendrix, Lora was no longer surprised.
The old man was really bitter that his son didn't get the CEO position.
"May I know why you're calling for an emergency meeting again?" Lora asked lazily.
Craig interlaced his fingers and placed them on the table before saying, "It has come to our attention that one of our VIP's customised design has been leaked to a a rival company. Miss Davis, how are you going to explain that?"
Lora's eyebrows creased, confusion creeping into her. She glanced at Craig and asked, "Why should I give you an explanation? Am I the one who leaked the design?"
"Because you're the one handling the
client's design, Miss Davis. A VIP
client requested a customised design for her necklace, however, an enemy company has somehow gotten their hands on it and released
it first. If the VIP client decides to sue the company, who will take the fall for it? You were responsible for the design, Miss Davis," Craig remarked.
One of the other shareholders chipped in. "Miss Davis, I think there's only one thing left to do to please the VIP client. We can't afford to be sued at the moment."
Lora chuckled darkly. These old men always played the same tricks. It was becoming boring.
She glanced at all of them before asking, "And what must I do to please the client?"
Craig cleared is throat and suggested, "You should give up your position and give it to Lewis. He will handle this."
