"And the marriage," that was what Norah intended to say.
However, her marriage was broken and gone.
Suppressing the pain in her heart, Norah put on a happy face, and replied stoically, "Nothing.”
She would never have the marriage she wanted in her life, and the love she longed for had also been
away from her.
That was the reason why the love story of her grandparents seemed so appealing to her.
People always craved the things they could not get, and she was no exception.
"You'll meet." Suddenly, Shawn said.
"Meet what?"
"You said that you wanted to experience a unique love, and meet a devoted lover, didn't you? Chase,
you will meet the very person who loves and cherishes you, just like your grandmother.”
"Really?" Norah just smiled.
"Perhaps, you have already met." Shawn said.
Impulsively, he stretched out his hand and intended to grab Norah's one. He wanted to say solemnly,
"Chase, I know that I was wrong. I used to be stupid as I did not recognize my thoughts."
"But now I understand. I will love you like Grandpa treats Grandma. Can you give me another
chance?"
However, his hand was stopped abruptly by Norah's following words, stunned between the two people.
"Yes, I have met, long, long ago, but I did not catch it."
"Maybe that is my fate.” Norah shook her head helplessly.
The words struck a chill in the heart of Shawn.
His hand trembled and dropped, and then clenched into a fist. He slowly and quietly withdrew his hand
and put it behind him, as if he had acted nothing just now.
He slightly closed his eyes, with the pain filling his heart. When he opened his eyes again, the pain
became even more profound.
God knew how happy he was the moment Norah said "already met", which gave him hope again and
he even made up his mind to never let Norah go or leave her, even if she hated him much.
However, the words "long ago" directly drove him into the depths of hopelessness.
"Long ago?"
"Norah said she had someone she had loved for ten years. Therefore, she was not talking about me,
but the man she has loved and kept in her heart for ten years.”
"It is not me, indeed," Shawn thought.
Such realization triggered his jealousy and almost drove him mad.
Shawn regretted profoundly that he had not seized the opportunity and cherished Norah. What was
more bitter for him was that he did not even know who that man was.
"Are you hungry? What do you want to eat for lunch?" Shawn changed the topic.
"It doesn't matter to me. Since it's Grandpa's hometown, you must be more familiar than me, so I will
just eat what you order." Norah replied.
"Okay, wait a minute."
Putting down the luggage, Shawn and Norah went out together.
In front of them was a long, winding path, paved with bluestones. Probably because of the rain, the
ground was clean, and the flagstones looked much brighter.
There were houses that retained the characteristics of the ancient town on both sides. Some of them
had green leaves and colorful flowers on the walls, which looked very beautiful from a distance.
They could smell the floral fragrance when they got closer.
After turning left at the end of the path, they reached the town's market which might be the most lively
place in the town.
Shawn guided Norah to eat the most characteristic food in the town, which he would eat every time he
went there.
At first, he was worried about whether Norah could adapt to the food.
When she finished a large bowl of dishes, he finally smiled in relief.
After lunch, Shawn took Norah to stroll around the ancient town.
The ancient town was not big, but the scenery was good. Besides, there were different types of small
shops offering various goods, which was also dazzling.
Norah was fond of visiting some exquisite accessory stores, and when she saw the items she liked,
she would buy them.
After shopping in several stores, she already had several bracelets hanging on her wrist, with different
kinds of styles.
"You love these?" Shawn asked.
Norah raised her hand and shook the bracelets. When she heard the crisp sound the bracelets made,
she smiled, "Yes, I do. Don't you think they are beautiful? It doesn't cost a lot to buy so many bracelets.
Quite a good deal, isn't it?"
"You're right."
However, when he nodded, Shawn felt a little bitter in his heart.
They had been married for two years. Although the relationship between them was not that intimate, he
had never lost the sense of ceremony.
Wedding anniversaries, birthdays, large and small holidays, almost on every important day, he would
order Anthony to send a piece of exquisite jewelry to her.
Each piece of jewelry could buy many bracelets like this, but Norah had never been so happy and
always looked indifferent when she received them.
"I have bought many for you too." Shawn suddenly said with jealousy.
"Yes." Norah nodded, and her voice lowered. "You did have bought me many sets of jewelry."
Unfortunately, all those were selected and sent by Anthony, while Shawn himself did not get involved at
all.
He even never asked her what style she liked.
Consequently, what he bought seldom matched her desire.
"I don't think I've ever seen you wear them."
Norah raised her head and stared at him with clear eyes. She said word by word seriously, "Shawn, for
the sake of our long relationship, let me give you a piece of advice."
"What advice?"
"In the future, if you have a beloved girl and want to give her jewelry or something like that, you should
at least first understand what she likes. Don't blindly send things, otherwise, even if you send a
thousand pieces of jewelry, they can not compare to one heartfelt gift."
"Besides, I don't think a girl would like to receive a gift that is bought and sent by her husband's Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
assistant."
"And I'm no exception."
Finishing speaking, Norah quickened her pace forward.
Conversely, Shawn stayed put blankly.
"She's talking about me, isn't she?” He thought.
Indeed, he had never forgotten to send gifts during so many festivals, but he had ordered Anthony to
prepare the gifts all the time.
He had never asked Norah what kind of gifts she liked, either.
"I'm the fool,” realized Shawn finally.
"I even don't know about her preference after a two-year marriage. What a loser I am!"
Noticing Norah had walked away, Shawn stopped thinking and quickly trotted to catch up with her.
When he approached Norah, he asked, "Then can you tell me what you like?"
"I think it is meaningless to you."
"What if I think it isn't?" Shawn stared at Norah, with his dark eyes as bright as stars. "I might be
attracted to his eyes again if I had less self-control,” thought Norah.
She quickly looked away, and said, "If you are sincere, you will figure it out yourself. It doesn't mean
anything if you ask for the answer."
