Chapter 202 Did You Sleep?

The truth was exposed, and Rachel no longer defended herself. Her eyes suddenly turned red, holding

back tears as she looked at me and said, “I know it’s not right, but ever since he saved me, I can’t help

but think about him, want to see him, Tabatha, I know you despise me for this, but there’s nothing

wrong with liking someone. I don’t want to ask for too much, I just want to talk to him, to see him, that’s

all. Really, I won’t destroy his family.”

I felt suffocated in my heart, “There’s nothing wrong with liking someone, but there are principles of

propriety, justice, integrity, and honor, moral ethics. He saved you only because he considered that I

am Walter’s wife, so he went to save you with me. He’s not some suddenly appeared hero. Would you

fall in love with whoever saved you that day? Rachel, I understand and even empathize with everything Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

you experienced on the Heart Island. You were uneasy, frightened, and even scared. You could have

come to me, why did you have to get involved with William? If you want to fall in love, there are so

many good single men in the world, why did you choose him?”

Out of anger, out of impatience, I lashed out at her with a string of words. She hung her head, not

responding, only shedding tears. The entranceway, originally not wide, felt even more cramped in the

oppressive and stifling atmosphere.

Watching her shed tears, I couldn’t help but feel heartache. I took a slight breath, suppressing the

anger in my heart.

He calmed down a bit and asked, “How far have you and him progressed?”

Her hands were interlaced in front of her, fingers digging deeply into

the back of her hand. In a low voice, she said, “He never touched me, I was the one who approached

him.”

I pursed my lips, my previous emotions had settled down, and I calmly asked, “Have you slept?”

She shook her head, “No, we just went out for a meal today. When we came back, I kissed him, and

that was it.”

Hearing this, I let out a slight sigh of relief, looking at her and saying, “Everything can still be salvaged,

don’t have any contact with him in the future.” After saying this, I reached out to her and said, “Give it to

me.”

She looked at me, pursed her lips, “What?”

“Cell phone.”

She pursed her lips, somewhat unwilling, but still handed me her phone.

I took her phone, deleted all of William’s contact information one by one, and then returned the phone

to her. Looking at her, I said, “Don’t have any contact with him in the future. You are still young and

deserve to love someone better.”

She took the phone, didn’t say a word, and silently returned to her bedroom.

We grew up together since childhood, and I knew that whenever she was emotional, she would ignore

everyone and lock herself in her room. I didn’t disturb her. I sat down in the living room, feeling a bit

weary and pinched the bridge of my nose.

I didn’t know what role William played in this matter. Perhaps he treated Rachel as if she were his

sister, never realizing that she had developed feelings for him, which is why he kept in contact with her.

Now, Rachel hasn’t suffered any substantial harm, so I couldn’t possibly rush to talk to William.

Thinking of Emma’s pregnancy, I couldn’t possibly make a big deal out of it, as it wouldn’t be good for

anyone. As long as the two of us didn’t contact each other in the future, everything would be fine.

The next evening. Rachel had practically spent the whole day in her room. Helpless. I went to the

supermarket and bought quite a lot of food and drinks. After preparing dinner and about to call her out

to eat, Walter’s call came in.

Seeing the familiar caller ID, I subconsciously furrowed my brows, answered the phone, and distantly

said, “Hello!” to the other end.

There seemed to be a slight pause on the other end of the phone before the voice said, “Come to

Starry Kitchen.”

I glanced at the prepared dishes on the dining table and immediately declined. “I’m already set to eat

here.”

The other end didn’t say much, just stated, “Mr. Smith, the project manager of the southern district, is

here.”

I was stunned for a moment, then it suddenly dawned on me that he was helping me get the project in

the southern district. After hesitating for a few seconds, I said into the phone, “Send me the address, I’ll

be there in half an hour.”

The voice from the other end was as low and restrained as always, simply responding with a, “Hmm!”

Then it was immediately hung up.

I was used to him being like this, so I didn’t mind.

Putting down my phone, I knocked on Rachel’s door, reminding her to

come out for dinner later. After telling her that I had to go out for a while, I changed my shoes and left.

Outside the restaurant, I had just arrived when I saw Walter’s tall and slender figure standing at the

entrance. After parking the car, I jogged over and called out to him.

Hearing the sound, he looked over at me, habitually reaching out to pull me towards him. I wanted to

dodge, but his reaction was faster than mine.

Then I heard his restrained voice, “We are still husband and wife on the surface, it’s necessary to keep

up appearances when needed.”
