Chapter 26: Memorable meeting
Chapter 26: Memorable meeting
I had been working in the agency for several months. And by the nature of my work, I had to meet with
different people and in different environments. Some were funny, others not very good, and still others
weird. I no longer paid much attention to all that. Delivered the package, handed it in and went away.
Old acquaintances from my clients sometimes invited me to visit, but I, as a rule, refused. Although, in
principle, it was possible, I did not burn with desire for that.
One day, I was handed a package and told to deliver it to the specified address. I walked there lightly. I
was in a great mood, and it was a wonderful day. Going to the house that was listed in the delivery, I
found the right door and knocked.
A young handsome guy opened the door for me and greeted me. He immediately looked me up and
down and smiled. He invited me into the apartment and closed the door behind me. I handed him the
package. I also managed to notice that another black-haired young guy was sitting in the next room.
He, noticing me, smiled and waved his hand. I answered with a waive.
They both seemed to me too strange, like junkies. I would never have paid attention to men so thin and
nondescript...
But that day gave me a surprise that I never expected. Perhaps my headache was the cause. In the
morning, for some reason, my temples were squeezing, and, as luck would have it, I didn't take any
analgesics with me.
It was uncomfortable for me to ask the guys for something out of pain, but I just realized that I could not
go further. In addition, the long walk only made me worse, and also, wildly thirsty.
Having hesitated a little, I asked the guys to give me some strong pain reliever and bring a glass of
water. The guys somehow talked and laughed about something for a long time.
I even thought that it was a bad idea to ask them for a pill, after all, you can run into the pharmacy and
buy it there. And you can buy water at any corner.
“Guys, don’t worry, I’ll go buy it at the pharmacy. If there is no medicine or you need to look for it, then it
is not necessary.” I nervously smiled to leave as soon as possible, but the guy who met me
immediately became worried and stopped me.
“What are you doing, now we will find everything! We don't have anything like that in our apartment, but
the neighbor will come in literally in a minute, I already called him, he has such pills that you won't have
any pain at all for a day.”
“Okay.” I drawled, I really didn't like his mocking tone. And also, to wait for some neighbor. What is this
nonsense? But out of goddamn politeness, I stayed. Although it was necessary to turn around and
leave.
The guy himself went to get water. I stood, shifting from foot to foot and waiting for him. After a few long
minutes, he brought me a glass of cold water. I drank it in one gulp, it turned out I was really thirsty!
The doorbell rang and some homeless-looking man, unshaven and unkempt, in wrinkled and slightly
torn home clothes brought a pill. It was unpacked, just in the palm of his hand. It also seemed strange
to me, but again, it was impolite to refuse, and I thought that they were all doing their best for me. I took
the pill. I felt an interesting aftertaste in my mouth, but why such a strange taste, I hesitated to ask.
“It will work in a minute!” The homeless-looking neighbor answered with a smile.
“So fast?!” I was surprised, remembering how I usually suffer for half an hour, lying in bed, until the pill
finally works and removes the terrible pain.
“These are special pills." The neighbor said hotly.
“Yes." The guy, standing next to him, picked up. “Military development.” © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
They both laughed, and I suddenly felt very strange. The pain disappeared really quickly, but instead of
it there was a strong desire to sit somewhere and just lie down and not move at all.
“By the way, my name is Ben.” The owner of the apartment introduced himself.
“Call me Uncle Alfred." Ben's neighbor held out his hand.
“Very nice to meet you." I smiled cautiously, “But I really have to go…”
I handed the guy the glass, thanked him and turned to the door to go outside. At that moment I felt
some kind of weakness in my legs. Some incredible fatigue immediately fell upon me. I felt very sleepy,
and I grabbed the door handle. At that moment, everything went dark around, and I apparently passed
out.
