Chapter 78
Unice’s PoV
I heard my phone ring and wondered who it was, it’s been a year, and Ace will be released from the mental hospital this year, but he will continue the medication he requires. But when I answered the phone, no one answered.
“Hello, who are you?” I smiled and asked to look at the number, which was not saved on my phone.
[Good morning, Ms. Unice, I’m standing in front of your office,] I was perplexed when I heard Ace’s voice and quickly rose from my seat.
I hung up the phone, and when I opened the door to my office, Ace smiled at me, followed by Max. Why didn’t they inform me that he would return today?! I was ecstatic to see him again.
“I had no idea you’d be back today! Nobody informed me!” I said, and he immediately hugged me.
“I’m sorry about that. I know you’re excited to be with me again,” Ace bubbled, and I hugged him as tightly as I could.
“It’s all right! Come inside first because I’m still working,” I replied, and he went inside.
“Miss Unice, you need to call Tom to fetch your son from school; I believe his classes are now over.” Max reminded me, and I nodded.
“Does Aaron are still in his school?” Ace asked, and I nodded.
“Yes, Tom has been fetching him since he began studying; why?” I questioned him and sat in a swivel chair.
“Maybe I can get him now that I’m back and make things up with him,” Ace suggested, and I stopped typing on my laptop.
“Aaron will be scared if you are the one who fetches him; let me call Tom so that he can be with you,” I suggested, and he motioned to stop me.
“I’ll do that because I have a new phone that we bought along the way here in the company,” Ace said, and I nodded before he dialed Tom’s number.
While Ace was talking to Tom, I continued to type on the paperwork that needed to be done, and after a few minutes, he stood up from his seat and approached me at my desk.
“Done talking with Tom. I’ll be leaving now, don’t worry about our son. I’ll take care of him,” Ace assured, kissing me on the forehead while wearing his blazer.
“Be careful!” I added that Ace would be delighted if he introduced himself to Aaron.
I believe Aaron will recognize his father since I showed him the picture Ace and I had; I also told him his name so that he knows Ace may return one day. He’ll be taken aback because we’ll be completed.
Ace’s PoV
The employees in my company are welcoming me back. It’s been years, but some of them I recognize, and some are new faces. I’m glad our company has grown thanks to the efforts of our employees.
I’m here outside waiting for Tom to come here. I saw the employee who is familiar with me, and they are still working here after taking the elevator.
“Sir! You’ve returned! How are you doing? Will you be working now?” My employee inquired, and he, too, is in his 30s.
“Thank you, and yes, I will soon, but right now, I need to fetch my son from school,” I replied, and he seemed surprised that I had a son.
“Oh, it’s Ms. Unice’s son, I know him. He’s been to the company before, Ms. Unice is the one taking care of him, and it’s challenging for her while she’s doing her job here.” He continued.
“I didn’t know that. Thank you for informing me. You should work now,” I thanked him, and he nodded. I noticed Tom’s Humvee, and it stopped in front of me.
“It’s good to see you back, boss. Let’s go meet your son,” Tom said, and I smirked before entering the Humvee, and Tom started to drive.
“Thank you; I’m looking forward to seeing my son,” I said. After 30 minutes, we arrived at the school, where I saw many students leaving because it was already dismissal time.
I got out of the Humvee and looked at Tom, who showed me my son’s face; I smiled and nodded. While waiting, the students stare at me because I’m leaning on the Humvee car. Parents were waiting for their children, some with personal maids and family members accompanying them to fetch them. I suddenly saw my son looking for Tom, and when he looked at me, he stopped walking, and I could tell he was confused.
I remember this being my face when I was a kid; he looked like me, and I don’t have my parents at that age. If I remember correctly, he continues walking up and stares at me.
“Hello! Are you mom’s boyfriend?” Aaron questioned me, and I knelt down to face him because he was such a small child.
“Yes, I’m her boyfriend and your father,” I told him, leaving him speechless. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
He immediately hugged me tightly, and I hugged him back; I’m so grateful that he accepted me right away, even after all these years without his presence. I sense he is a kind boy, and Unice taught him good manners while I was gone for a long time; perhaps he told him not to hold grudges against me.
“Mom told me not to hold grudges against you because you will come home someday, and we will be completed family soon,” Aaron said as he let go of my hug.
“We’re completed now; let’s go home and wait for your mom since she’s still working,” I reassured him, and he nodded and took my hand in his.
As we entered the Humvee car, we were seated in the back.
“Hey, kid. How was the school?” Aaron was questioned by Tom.
“It’s all right! I have two friends who are wonderful people, “Aaron said, and I smiled because he had made new friends.
“Honestly, I’m glad you’re not like me; you’ll be successful, and I promise I won’t let you become like me,” I admitted as I felt the Humvee move and buckled Aaron’s seat belt.
“I want to show you something dad, mom doesn’t know, so let’s keep it a secret,” Aaron whispered, surprising me.
“Okay, I promise I won’t tell her about it,” I promised him, and after a few minutes, we arrived at the house, where I saw Justin standing guard.
“Is Zoey present? Unice informed me that she is living with her because she does not want Unice to be alone until I return,” I ask Tom, and I unbuckle Aaron’s seat belt.
“She’s not home today because she has work,” Tom responded, and I nodded before exiting the car with Aaron.
I took Aaron’s right hand in mine, and we went inside the house I bought for Unice. And I smiled because it was even more beautiful. After all, Unice was in charge of it. Aaron led me upstairs while holding my hand.
I saw the room for Unice and me, and in front of it was Aaron’s room; when we entered, Aaron let go of my hand and picked up something under his bed that I didn’t recognize.
“I like to draw, dad, and when mom showed me your face, I decided to draw it so I could remember you forever,” Aaron added, showing me his drawing.
Trying to stop my laughter because it needs more improvements, I looked at it and noticed my name written on the left side, then I noticed he drew himself next to me.
“You even drew yourself here because we don’t have a family photo yet; do you want to take one?” When I asked him, he smiled and nodded.
I set my phone to my front camera, and when I pressed the button, we took a selfie, and I could see how happy he was.
“Can I ask where you went, Dad? I’m curious because mom is never here on Sundays, “Aaron inquired, and I touched his two shoulders.
“I’ll tell you when you’re older, so you’ll understand,” I explained, and he nodded.
“Promise?” Aaron and I nodded.
“Of course, it’s a promise; I won’t forget it; the two of us are geniuses, am I correct?” He nodded as I teased him.
“Would you like to do something you wanted with me?” I inquire, and he takes his game controller from his gaming console.
“You’re playing games now, but keep in mind that you need to study more; you’ll only play on weekends, but today is special because I’m back,” I suggested. He nodded, and we began to play.
