Chapter 11 “Why am I not the one who died?”

Susan stood outside the door, flustered.

She walked to the door, not knowing whether she should knock or not, she picked up her hand several times and put it down again.

She prayed, “Can you lend me money first, my father’s illness can’t be delayed.”

“If it was really that urgent, you should be looking for clothes right now, not wasting time with me.” The person inside snorted, seemingly with contempt and disdain.

Susan hurried over, she knew he was listening, so she quickly said, “I’ll go change now, can you give me money, I’ll change my clothes soon.”

“You change it first.” The stance there was firm.

Susan stood up, dizzy, and rolled on the floor before standing up. She covered her eyes and took a moment to slow down before continuing to stumble forward.

She pulled her hair out of her face and walked down the street as if she were a madman.

When she found a passerby, she hurriedly asked, “Do you have any new clothes? Can …”

“Nuts.” The passerby rolled his eyes and pulled her hand away to dodge far away.

Susan was bewildered, the man had gone, and she moved on to the next one. The people passing by immediately ducked to the side when they saw her as if they were afraid of touching a germ.

She is now on the street, looking around in bewilderment. No clothes, no new clothes, she scratched her hair and kept thinking of ways.

When Alex came over, she was pestering a passerby to pick up her clothes, so he immediately went over and pulled Susan away, and paid some money with the man.

The person in front of him was disheveled and pale, and her eyes were in a trance.

She looked at Alex, a flash of surprise in her eyes, “Alex, can you lend me a new set of clothes? Chandler said to let me wear new clothes before he would talk to me about money.”

Alex took his jacket off and put it on her. She looked around, then back at him, and suddenly got petulant, “I don’t want this kind! He doesn’t like it. If he doesn’t like it, I won’t get the money, and if I don’t get the money, my dad he’ll die. I’ve already lost my child, I can’t lose him again, I can’t. Alex, help me, help me, ok? I can’t lose him …”

She grabbed her hair and squatted down, wailing, “I’ve already lost my child, I killed it with my own hands, it was my flesh and blood, I watched it turn into a red mass … and then, out of my body … ”

Alex also squatted down and gently patted her back. She really panicked, so panicked that she didn’t know what she should do, and now that someone was willing to help her, she would be grateful and thankful.

She covered her face and did not cry, there was no time for her to cry. Her last relative was still lying in the hospital bed, it was her last blood source to her, and could not leave her again …

Alex did not say a word and silently took her in his arms.

“It’s okay.” He moved his lips, but he could not find any words to comfort her.

Susan was silent for a moment, but her mind was whirling. She held her tears back and leaned for a moment to get up again.

“Please, help me. I want a new dress, it’s the last thing I ask for.”

She squared her posture and looked at him with red, puffy eyes.

Alex pondered for a moment before asking, “What kind of clothes do you want.”

“Pretty ones, he likes pretty ones.” Susan heard, immediately stammered, and then looked down at her own red dress, her voice lowered again, “This dress is too ugly, he does not like it.”

He stood up and looked at the person in front of him with a complicated expression.

Susan also stood up, looked at him pleadingly, and said in a dumb voice, “Now he is the only one left who can save my father.”

“Do you regret it?” He suddenly asked.

Susan was stunned, then nodded her head with difficulty and said, “I regret why it was not me who died. If she had lived, wouldn’t all of us have been happy? And my father, I think he wouldn’t be like this either.”

Reaching out to brush away the tears at the corners of her eyes, she looked like she had seen something funny, and her lips hook up, “Maybe there wouldn’t be so much trouble.”

As she spoke, her eyes half opened and closed, revealing a wave of sadness.

“Maybe when I’m gone, it’s all over too.” She suddenly shook her head helplessly and smiled, raised her eyes to the person in front of her, and said, “Can I have new clothes?”

She brushed her hair to her ears and said carelessly, “This body is probably the only thing I have left now that is still somewhat useful. If he wants to be happy and look good, I’ll be satisfied. When this is over, maybe it’ll all be over.”

Susan said too lightly, the whole person has a feeling of about to float away with the wind.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

And then she settled back down, stiffly turned her head to look at the man in front of her, and seriously called his name, “Alex.”

“Hmm?”

She suddenly knelt down and looked up at him, “Can you lend me money to pay for the medical bills now, I’ll go earn money to pay you back when it’s over, I will.”

Alex paused and forgot to speak. The man in front of him kowtowed a few more times and said in a sad voice, “Please, I will pay you back, just now, I don’t know who else I can get help from beside him.”

“I promise you.” He bent down to help her up, then said in a warm voice: “I will help you, and you don’t have to do this, you can just ask.”
