Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 88

Kaia POV

I've spent my life being trained by my Father to protect a pack that no longer exists. Now we have this pack and I need to protect it with all my might. They cannot breach too far into the pack, they cannot get to the innocent women and children who hide away in their homes.

They've breathed the borders already but they won't get any further, not if I can help it.

We haven't had the funds to build a pack shelter, something that now was paramount for our future...if we

can survive this attack.

The children and expectant mothers are too widely dispersed, they need to be securely guarded together in a shelter that would be impossible to penetrate.

They just keep coming. But they aren't rogues, these are pack wolves.

These are wolves that have been ordered to attack with the precise purpose of reminding us of who these lands bged to, not us apparently.

Laim for the young wolves first, the ones that hadn't been in training long. There weren't many female wolves in comparison to ours, that's not unsual we were fighting for survival, this pack is not.

They have plenty of trained warriors to use for such an occasion.

I don't kill, I refuse to kill unless necessary. Most, I can take down with a bite to the hind legs or an attack to their sides...but as I take out the most inexperienced fighters, the main warriors start to see the damage I am doing. And they clearly know they need to take me out.

I was born to be a luna, I am a luna wolf. I am bigger than the female wolves and even bigger than some

of the male wolves.

I was meant to be a luna, my genetics not knowing what cruelty my own mate would put me through.

I was the destined luna of the Amber Desert pack, by marriage, I technically am the Luna. And fight like a Luna I will.

I am now the acting Luna of the Nightshade Reformed Pack and will protect my father's members as such.

Samson doesn't leave my side once, he takes his promise to my father with absolute seriousness.

His sandy brown coloured wolf was slightly bigger than mine, he was born to be a beta and fight like one he does.

Most of the time he gets to the wolves before me, but to help him, I bite into their flanks to take them out. For not having a mind-link with me, he certainly is familiar with my movements and can sense my next steps.

It must be spending a childhood together.

Except for a few scars to his flank, his wolf is exactly the same as I remember him...but he has lived the life of a rogue for the last 4 years and that does leave signs..even on the best wolfs.

I am strong and nimble, I am able to see teeth before they manage to sink into me and only if I need to do I go in for the kill.

I'm not the alpha but I can still sense our numbers dwindling, our fighters injured and even feel the screams of pains through the pack bond from the deaths of loved ones. We didn't have long left.

I sink my teeth into the flank of a wolf that has Samson held in a tight lock by his neck, my wolf mauls trying to get in deeper to this wolf's ribcage when it finally whimpers and collapses to the ground. That's when a force the weight of a truck slams into both me and Samson, knocking Samson on top of me, my lungs winded from the movement and weight.

Catching my breath, I turn to see a large dark grey wolf... the Alpha wolf.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

He had finally joined the throes of his own war. His unnecessary war, that was killing his people and my father's. 1

He was attacking without even taking notice of who he attacked, he was on a killing spree. Each time one of the pack wolves dared to fight him, his claws slices through them like butter.

My wolf jumps up ready to fight when Samson blocks my path, standing in my way and attacking the alpha wolf instead.

I watch in horror as the alpha wolf deflects Samson's attack and pins him down on the ground, his jaw surrounding Samson's head waiting to crack it with his teeth.

"No!" I scream to my wolf, who growls out to the alpha in warning. She stalks up to him with a menacing stance, her tongue licking her teeth readying for her next bite. Then something weird happens.

The alpha male looks at my wolf before freezing, his eyes locked on mine as he considers my invite to a fight. His jaw remains locked around Samson's wolf's head, waiting to kill.

But rather than accept my challenge, his jaw loosens and he backs away from Samson who is panting on the floor. Freed, Samson manages to get up and stand next to my wolf.

The alpha wolf growls at mine, before howling to the moon and retreating. His fighters pulling back and retreating with him.

I watch in astonishment as they withdrawal, climbing back over our borders running back into the distance that they came from.
