Chapter 30
Daisy stared at the necklace in awe, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Lance couldn’t help but smile at her. “Do you like it?” he asked, watching her closely.
Without looking away from the necklace, Daisy nodded. “I do.”
Seeing her so taken by it, he grinned and said, “In that case, you can have it.”
“What? I can’t…” Daisy said, hesitating. She adored the necklace but knew it was way too expensive for someone like her. Their relationship wasn’t that close yet.
“Come on, it was meant for you.” Lance insisted, shoving the necklace into her hands.
“Uh, I—” But before Daisy could protest further, her phone buzzed. She pulled it out and saw it was a call from Elden, wondering why he was calling.
With a frown, she answered, “What is it, Mr. Wilder?”
“Is this how you speak to your father?” Elden’s voice boomed angrily.
“Forget that. Just ask her where she is,” Fiona chimed in, trying to calm him down. Elden repeated her question, and Daisy rolled her eyes. “How would I know? Does she not have legs?”
Just then, a familiar ringtone echoed in the background as Fiona answered her phone. “Laura! Where are you? It’s so late, why are-
“Excuse me, but I’m a nurse from Central Hospital. Your daughter was in a car accident and is currently in surgery. Please come as soon as possible, the nurse’s urgent voice cut through.
“What?!” Fiona screamed in disbelief. “Okay, I’ll be there right away. She quickly hung up and turned to Elden, “Let’s go. Laura got into an accident and is at the hospital!”
Fiona’s voice was loud enough for Daisy to hear. A smirk formed on her lips. She thought to herself, “Looks like the bad guy got what she deserved.”
“Okay, let’s go.” Elden didn’t even bother to say goodbye to Daisy before hanging up, and Daisy simply shrugged it off. She glanced out at the dark sky, realizing she had inadvertently slept through the afternoon. “Let’s go. I’ll treat you to dinner as a thank you for fixing my bracelet.”
“Do you think you can satisfy me that easily? I’m a businessman, and I never make a deal without a profit, Lance teased. He had overheard her call with Elden and felt a pang of sympathy for her.
Daisy rolled her eyes. “I’m just a broke student, so try to keep your expectations in check.”
Seeing the quirky side of Daisy, Lance raised an eyebrow. She didn’t seem like she needed any consolation: “Sure, with a beauty by my side, I’d eat anything,” he said.
She led him to a nearby night market, the air filled with the mouthwatering smells of all kinds of food. The scents intertwined into an overwhelming mix, but she didn’t mind. This place was recommended by Shawn, and it was her first time here. Dodging the crowd, she exclaimed, “Here it is! Let’s go!” Daisy pulled him into a barbecue joint that looked a bit empty, suggesting it wasn’t very popular.
“Are you sure you want to eat here?” Lance glanced at the empty barbecue joint, feeling a bit hesitant.
Daisy shrugged, not wanting to argue. She walked inside and called out to the guy at the counter, “Excuse me. I’d like to order.
The guy looked up, his expression flat. “Oh, what do you want?” he asked, sounding like he couldn’t care less. He was the oddest person on this street.
Daisy grabbed a menu from the side and pointed to several items without hesitation.
“Okay, find yourselves a seat,” the guy said, heading into the kitchen.
Daisy excitedly chose a spot by the window, but Lance hesitated, eyeing the greasy chair warily. He suggested, “Maybe we should try another place. My treat.” He didn’t want to risk ruining his clothes on that chair.
Daisy waved him off, grinning. “No. The barbecue here is really good. Just try it.”
When she caught him staring at the chair, she giggled and explained, “Just sit down. It won’t ruin your clothes. The owner here made these chairs look greasy to keep people away.
Lance’s eyes widened, intrigued by what she said.
“This place was actually popular before, but the owner opened it for his friends to hang out. He doesn’t like serving new customers. If he saw you acting like that, you might not be welcome back,” Daisy said, shooting him a knowing look.
Lance chuckled, more curious now. “This guy sounds pretty interesting.”
Before long, the food was served, and Daisy wasted no time. She started eating with a carefree attitude that left Lance surprised. The girls he knew always acted so polite, but Daisy was the first who just let loose and enjoyed herself.
“Slow down, Daisy. No one’s going to take your food, Lance said, wiping the juice off the corner of her mouth with a napkin he grabbed.
Feeling a bit awkward from the gesture, Daisy shifted away, creating some space between them. “You should start eating, or there won’t be anything left soon.”Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Not waiting for Lance’s reply, she went back to devouring her meal.
Seeing her enjoy her food so freely made Lance smile. He picked up a piece of meat and took a bite. His eyes flavor was something special, and he hardly ever found this kind of taste back in Aerithia.

“Is it good?” Daisy asked eagerly, noticing the change in his expression. She excitedly tugged on his sleeve, completely forgetting her earlier shyness.
“Yeah, it’s really good,” Lance replied, nodding slowly. “You really know how to find amazing food, Daisy.”
His compliment made her blush. Even her grandma hadn’t been so kind before.
