Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO By Woody Rain Chapter 55

Chapter 55

Chapter 55 Do You Want a Divorce?

“Mom!” Betty glared at Sherry and said in a reproachful tone.

“I’m just worried. You were settled when I was in a coma. I have no idea what he is like,” Sherry complained in an undertone.

“It doesn’t matter, Betty.” Compared with Betty who was embarrassed, Kerwin kept his cool. “Mrs. White, my business card.”

Sherry took the business card and got startled at the titles like ‘CEO’ on the business card.

“Tylman Group. I haven’t heard it before.” She hesitated. “What about your parents? What are they?”

While Betty felt uneasy and wanted to stop her mom from asking, Kerwin said calmly, “My parents

were gone. My grandfather is Bruce Martin.”

“Bruce Martin?” Sherry was taken by surprise, “The master of the Martin family.”

Tylman Group was the latest group that developed these years, so Sherry hadn’t heard of it. But she had heard ‘Bruce Martin’. To be more exact, Bruce Martin was known to everyone in Chicago.

“SO… You are…” Sherry recalled. “The second son of the Martin family?”

Kerwin nodded.

Sherry’s face blanched. She was too shocked to say a word.

“Well… Kerwin.” Betty knew what her mom was thinking. She tried to change the subject. “Well, Kerwin, I want to go back home to take a shower. Could you send me home? You get into the car first

and wait for me.”

Kerwin nodded his head and said to Sherry, “Mrs. White, I’ll come to see you tomorrow. Have a good rest.”

Sherry nodded with a pale face and saw Kerwin off.

Once Kerwin left, Sherry darted a look at Betty and said in a weak but determined tone, “Betty, you can’t stay with that man. Divorce him!”

Betty shivered and looked at Sherry in disbelief. “Mom, what did you say?”

“You can’t be with him.” Sherry gripped Betty’s hand. “You have seen how it works for poor women to stay with rich guys, haven’t you? How do you know he’s your true lover? I doubt it. Maybe he only wants to play with you. Just like your dad!”

Betty’s face turned pale. “Mom, he won’t. He and I have got the marriage certificate.”

“So what? Perhaps he needs a nominal wife.” Sherry was very clear-minded, though she’d been unconscious for two years. “He’s such a great man. What makes you feel like he truly loves an ordinary woman like you?”

Betty was choked.

She actually agreed with Sherry. When they just got married, Betty knew that Kerwin wanted a marriage and whoever he married didn’t matter. But what Sherry didn’t know was, that Betty married him to get a resident certificate. They took what they needed and neither of them could

judge each other.

“Mom,” she avoided answering Sherry’s questions. “Kerwin is nice to me.”

She told the truth. Though they were not very close to each other, she admitted that he was nice to her. Every time she was in bad need, he could appear and offer a hand. Like, he helped her with her mom’s surgery.

“Betty, you’re too silly! It’s just an act.” Sherry was anxious. “Couldn’t you learn a lesson from me? I just wish you could live a happy life… I’m really afraid you’ll be fooled and ruined by a man, just like me.”

Sherry choked with sobs.

Seeing this, Betty felt heartbroken. She hugged Sherry. “Mom, calm down. You can’t get too excited as you just had surgery. To level with you, I married him for residency in Chicago and Medicaid. I have no feelings for him.”

Sherry stopped crying at Betty’s words. She looked up at Betty in shock. “Really?”

“Sure.” Betty looked at Sherry. “Mom, can’t you tell I have no feelings for him?”

Sherry raised Betty up and they lived together for many years, so she understood Betty very well. She could tell whether Betty loved a man or not.

Sherry felt relieved and reminded Betty, “Betty, promise me, find a proper time to divorce him.”

Betty never thought of divorcing Kerwin. Regardless of their purposes of getting married or Kerwin’s status, she would never ask for a divorce.

Seeing Sherry’s imploring look and pale face, Betty gave in. “OK, Mom. I promise you.”

Sherry heaved a sigh of relief and couldn’t help feeling guilty. “Betty, I burdened you. Once you get divorced, it’ll be harder to find a good match.”

Betty’s eyes glinted. She hugged Sherry. “That’s okay, Mom. I can live happily as long as you’re by my side.”

Betty coaxed Sherry into sleeping. She packed up her stuff and was about to leave, but she froze when she saw the file packet on the nightstand.

It should be Kerwin’s. Does he forget to take it?

Betty put the file packet into her bag and left the ward.

On the other side, Kerwin wheeled himself into the car. Peter who was in the passenger seat was surprised. “Mr. Martin, what took you so long?”

Kerwin didn’t reply.

Peter turned his head and took a look. Then he saw Kerwin’s cold gaze which sent shivers down his

spines.

What happened? Mr. Martin looked delighted before he went to take the file packet. But now his face looks so grim and scary.

Ten minutes later, Betty got into the car with the file packet in her hand. “Kerwin, is it yours?”

Kerwin didn’t reach out to take it. He tilted his head and looked at Betty. His face betrayed no

emotions. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

Betty was scared of his sharp gaze and asked tentatively, “Kerwin, what’s up?”

Kerwin looked at Betty’s anxious look and thought of what he overheard at the ward door.

I married him for residency in Chicago and Medicaid. I have no feelings for him.

Hehe.

She’s quite honest with her mom.

Though he had known the reason why Betty married him, he still felt annoyed when he heard it from her.

Damn it.

Now she could affect his emotions more easily.

“Betty,” Kerwin didn’t take the packet but suddenly said coldly. “Do you want a divorce?”
