CEO's Substitute Bride

Chapter 246

Chapter 246

Emmett went to Winston's room.

The maid at the door bowed respectfully when she saw Emmett. "Young master."

Then, she pushed the door open for Emmett.

As soon as Emmett entered, he closed the door behind him. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

Winston was still sitting on the sofa with his head up. He leaned back on the back of the sofa. The TV was playing a play. It was not loud.

Emmett walked closer and found that Winston had fallen asleep with his eyes closed.

Before Emmett could say anything, Winston suddenly opened his eyes. His usually sharp eyes were cloudy.

He stared at Emmett in front of him as if he had been frightened. His pupils suddenly contracted.

But very quickly, his eyes regained clarity.

"You're here."

His voice was a little hoarse, but when Emmett heard it, he felt that these words were not meant for him.

Emmett frowned and sat down opposite Winston. He looked at Winston carefully.

He remembered when Alyssa returned, she looked like she wanted to say something but could not say it. Now that he saw Winston like this, he finally understood why.

The reason why he could be so arrogant in front of Winston and was tolerated by Winston was mainly because Winston felt that Emmett was like him. He naturally loved him a little more and would not care about Emmett's arrogance.

Winston had always been smart and wise. He would never show weakness in front of others easily.

Emmett was used to Winston speaking with great weight. Therefore, when he saw the obvious fatigue on Winston's face and the weakness that belonged, he was a little surprised.

Emmett frowned even more and directly asked him, "What's wrong with you?"

He and Winston had fought each other for many years. Instead of saying that they were grandfather and grandson, it was more accurate to say that they were like two rivals who had forgotten each other.

Although Winston had told Emmett not to check on his mother, which had made him distant from Winston, he still cared about Winston in his heart.

Of course there was a reason why Winston did not let him investigate his mother's matter, but it was definitely not because his mother's matter was related to Winston.

"Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. After the New Year, I will be a year older. There aren’t many days left for me. I just want to say a few more words to you.” Winston looked at him. It was hard to tell the emotions

in his eyes.

Winston's tone made Emmett a little irritated. He said impatiently, "If you have something to say, say it quickly."

Winston did not change his expression because of Emmett's tone. Instead, he smiled and said, "Among the younger generation of Lawrence family, only you and Justin are the most sincere. But if you want to do something big, you cannot be too honest."

"Alyssa is young. Her personality is very different from yours. She is a good child but as your wife, I think she is not suitable…"

Seeing Emmett was about to get angry, Winston smiled and said, "I haven't finished yet. What are you in a hurry for?"

Emmett snorted and leaned back, waiting for him to continue.

"But she has good patience. I let her watch the opera with me for an hour. She is not impatient. Alyssa is kind and beautiful. If I was young, I would be tempted to see such a beautiful lady."

The first half of his words was fine but Emmett did not seem to be fine with the second half.

Emmett raised his eyebrows and said with a cold face," Old man, talk properly."

Winston's eyebrows jumped. He slapped the sofa and pointed at Emmett. "You brat, no matter what, I am your biological grandfather. When I hugged you when you were young, you even peed on me. I didn't even hit you. Now that you have a wife, you don't care about me anymore? Do you dare to talk to

Alyssa like it?"

Winston looked much more pleasing to eyes when he was full of vigor.

Emmett tilted his head and said calmly, "She is a little girl. I have to be more lenient. You are so old yet you still want to compete with her?"

Winston was so angry that he threw the remote control on the coffee table in front of him at Emmett.

Emmett could not avoid it. He was hit by the remote control. He gasped in pain.

Emmett pressed the spot where the remote hit him. "When you are not as eloquent as me, you want to hit me?"

Winston's expression changed. He said in a cold and serious tone that Emmett had never heard of, "Emmett, calmly finish this Spring Festival. I will tell you everything you want to know."

It turned out that the Winston had said so much, but what he wanted to say the most was this sentence.

Emmett's entire body froze. He did not react for a long time.

The two of them looked at each other for a long time. Emmett sat up straight and recovered his voice. "Including my mother?"

Winston nodded. "Yes, including your mother."

Emmett knew him best. He knew that since Winston had promised, he would not go back on his word.

He pursed his lips and said, "Okay."

It was already eleven o'clock when he came out of Winston's room. It was late at night.

The wall lamps were on in the corridor. The lights were dim. From time to time, servants would pass by and greet him in low voices.

"Young Master."

He nodded back.

Emmett walked forward step by step, slowly.

He was sure that his grandfather hadn't been involved in his mother's incident, but he knew something.

What his grandfather knew was very likely to only know after the kidnapping.

When he brought Alyssa back to the old residence for the first time, his grandfather had ordered him not to investigate his mother's matter again.

Since his grandfather was not a participant, so there's only one reason why he stopped Emmett from investigating his mother.

His grandfather was afraid that he would find out the truth.

The truth might be a secret that could not be told, an indescribable secret.

Perhaps it was a secret that could not be revealed to others.

To be more specific, the truth was so heavy that even an old man like his grandfather, who had experienced many things, could not bear it.

And now, his grandfather was willing to tell him the truth.

Then what had provoked his grandfather?

When Emmett came back to his senses, he found that he had already walked to the door of the room.

"Young Master, you are not asleep yet?"

Another servant passed by.

Emmett looked back at the maid.

There were a lot of people in Lawrence family. There were also a lot of servants.

But what did so many people have to do with him?

He turned around and looked at the door in front of him.

Only the woman in this room gave him a real sense of security.

He pushed the door open and entered. Alyssa immediately walked over.

"How is it? What did Grandfather say to you? Do you think he's weird too?"

It was obvious that she had been waiting for him to come back. That was why she kept asking him questions the moment he entered the room.

Emmett just walked into the room and did not say anything.

Alyssa looked up to see his expression. She found that after he went to Winston's room, he also became a little strange.
