Chapter 20
A LITTLE BIT OF TRUTH, Part Two:
Elena drove the Lamborghini straight inside her aunt’s house. She and her sister got down from the car and were surprised to see a new changes in the next house. It was now breathtaking, unlike before.
Their new neighbour who came out of his house and was heading to his car noticed their stares and waved at them with his hands. Eva returned his wave and smiled behind the mask when he made his way towards them.
It seems their aunt is busy since she hasn’t come out when they drove in.
“Hello ladies, am Julian by name, your new neighbour.” Their new neighbour now known as Jillian introduces himself to them.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Am Ena.”
“And I am Evelyn, Ena’s younger sister.” Eva introduced herself.
“Nice names.”
“Thanks, see ya,” Elena said and went inside. “Don’t stay too long outside sis.” She added loudly for her sister to hear her before entering the house.
“I love what you did with the house. You totally transformed it,” Eva said in enthusiasm.
“At first when I came and saw the house, I was surprised because it wasn’t what I was shown in the picture. I had to call my agent and they did this today. And now, I think I like this new look.” Julian told her with a smile and stared at his newly acquired house.
“It’s totally awesome Julian,” Eva said in admiration. “Uhmm, I got to go. It was nice talking with you.”
“Hold on,” Julian said and brought out his Iphone from his pocket. “First of all, do you have a phone?” He asked with a smile.
“Of course I do.” Eva answered him, her heart pounding so fast in her heart that she swore she heard it. She prayed that the next question should be her number.
“Good then, can I have your number. I think I like your kind of person, always outspoken,” Julian said with one of his charming smiles he normally flashes on girls he is about to woo.
Though Evelyn seemed to be different. He liked Ena, but since Ena had shown she wasn’t interested in his handsome face, he went for her younger sister.
“Sure,” Eva said and called out her number to him which he collected and saved.
“Sorry for asking Eva, how old are you?” Julian asked. He doesn’t want to move around with a minor.
“Am 18, two years younger than Ena who is 20. How old are you Julian?” Eva asked him his question.
“Well, I am 27.” Julian answered her sincerely. “I was heading out before I saw you girls. See you soon Eve,” He said and walked back to his compound. He entered his car and drove out of his premises, honking at Eva.
Eva quickly left where she stood and entered the house.
“So you gave him your number?” Elena asked beside the door making Eva nearly scream out in fear.
“Don’t ever do that again sis!” Eva yelled once she had calmed down her heart. “And why are you standing behind the door, are you eavesdropping on my conversation I am having with Julian? I thought you said you weren’t interested in him, are you now developing feelings for him?” Eva asked as she removed her mask to glare at her sister.
“Eva calm down, I am not interested in him, okay. I was only trying to look out for you. Aunt is not around, I checked around the house and didn’t see her. Count yourself lucky that she isn’t here to witness you giving Julian your number,” Elena said going towards her room opening the door she paused when Eva’s voice came again.
“I am 18 not 15. I have the right to give whoever I want to give my number.”
“Oh, very well then. But remember you are living in her house, her house, her rule.” Elena said entering her room and closing the door behind her.
“Whatever.” Eva groaned and walked to her room slamming the door behind her hard.
Few minutes later, Elena heard some noise coming from the kitchen and opened her room door a little to be sure she heard right. She had just finished taking her bath and changed into some of her house clothes when she heard the noise.
Stepping out of her room, she slowly tiptoed to the kitchen ready to fight whoever was making the noise. Peeping inside, she saw her aunt in the kitchen preparing lunch for them and breath out in relief.
“Aunt Jess good afternoon, when did you come in and why did I not hear you knocking? The front door was locked with its bolt and I know Eva didn’t open the door for you.” Elena asked with surprise when she saw her aunt. Her sister would have even ignored the door and will be holding her phone, expecting the calls of their handsome new neighbour.
“Well, I didn’t follow the door, you are right, the door was bolted but I have other means I can use to get inside my own house without using the door,” Jess said with a shrug and focused on her cooking. “Oh, before I forget, your father called when you and your sister are both in school. And said you should call him back once you are home. So call him and leave the kitchen, I like preparing my food alone.” She added with a sweet smile.
“Okay auntie, will call him right away. And don’t forget you said I shouldn’t tell you my dream I had yet until I return from school.” Elena reminded her aunt and walked out of the kitchen going straight to her room to use her phone instead of her aunt’s to call her father.
King Eremus picked on the call on the third ring.
“Hello Father, good afternoon.” Elena greeted.
“Afternoon my child. How are you doing Elena?” King Eremus asked his daughter.
“I am fine dad. I miss you and home,” Elena said sadly.
“Yeah, me too, I miss you and your sister. Just hold on a little bit, soon you shall return.” King Eremus assured her. “Back to the reason why I called your aunt this morning to speak to you. Elena I saw a video of you fighting with your school mate on YouTube. Do you know what that means, you will attract the assassin to yourself?” He added with a raised voice.
“Sorry father, I didn’t know they would record it, let alone upload it on YouTube. They were trying to bully a guy in the same school and I had to interfere after they had given him multiple injuries.” Elena answered.
“I have no problem with you helping the guy being beaten, what I am saying is that the way you have fought with them, shows you were trained in a palace and the assassin, wherever he or she is, will have a lead about you being the secret Princess. I sent you and your sister to France to lay low not to fight.”
“I am sorry father, it won’t repeat itself again, I promise you.” Elena promised.
“I hope you keep to your promise. The assassin might be tracing you by now who knows. Be very careful Elena, I will call your sister and tell her the same,” King Eremus said.
“Thank you father.” Elena thanked and remembered what the Manticore beast had told her. “Dad, I want to ask you a question, can I go ahead and ask?”
“Yeah sure, go ahead.”
“I dreamt and met a beast who said I am her granddaughter. And that I should tell you to explain more to me.” Elena told him. “And why did you lie that we have no relatives and all of a sudden we have an aunt?” She asked.
“I was told not to tell you yet. Have you told your aunt about the dream?” King Eremus asked.
“Yes, I told her about the dream I had the first day when the beast was chasing me or rather I was running away from it thinking it would hurt me. I told aunt and she said I shouldn’t run when next I see it.” Elena answered.
“And you saw it again in your dream?” King Eremus inquired.
“Yes father, though we talked and she told me a lot of things and said I should ask you and aunt.” Elena responded.
“Well I can’t tell you over the phone. Such matters shouldn’t be discussed over the phone Elena. You auntie will explain everything that you need to know to you. Don’t worry, I will explain my own part when I see you face to face.” King Eremus told his daughter.
“Okay father.”
“Take care of yourself and stay out of trouble.”
“I will father, I love you.”
“Love you too Elena. Let me call your sis, talk to you soon,” King Eremus said and hung up the call.
“Lunch is served Elena.” Jess’s voice whispered into Elena’s ears and the girl shrieked in fear as she turned around to see her aunt smiling at her. The dining table has been set.
Calming her raising heart she stared at Jess in wonder. “How do you manage to move around without me hearing you?” She asked.
“It’s my own gift Elena, I don’t move around, I fly around. Now that you know this one, go and call your sister who hasn’t come out of her room yet.” Jess replied.
“Okay,” Elena said and went over to her sister’s room door and knocked on it.
“Yeah who is it?” Eva’s voice was heard behind the door.
“It’s room service, lunch has been served Princess,” Elena said playfully and walked back to the dining room and sat down.
Her aunt prepared Cassoulet as lunch. (Cassoulet is a rich, slow-cooked casserole containing meat, pork skin and white beans, originating in southern France)
Eva came out of her room with her phone in her face as she walked towards the dining room.
“Good afternoon aunt.” She greeted and sat down.
“Let’s start eating.” Jess told them and Elena begin digging into the food. “And Eva, drop your phone before I cease it. After eating you can carry your phone as you want.”
Eva drops her phone reluctantly and begins eating her food.
