Chapter 84
Chapter 84
Sofia’s POV This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
My eyes flew towards the bed which was in the middle of the room and saw the way her face looked
really pale and relaxed in the pillow. A cloth was over her body and stopping at her chest area and her
hands were laid out straight on the sides of tne bef. I slowly made my way towards her, taking in how
she looked so peaceful with her eyes closed and her lips lightly pressed against each other. I watched
the way a needle was injected in the veins in her hand and the way it was connected to a bag of drip
which contained a weird looking Concotion. An oxygen mask wasn’t on her face and I was really glad
about that because it would mean that she wasn’t in too much danger the way she’d be in if she’d be
unable to breath in herself.
She was in a coma, but nevertheless, she was still able to breathe in and out just fine.
I moved to the side of her bed and stared into her face, hoping in the deepest part of my heart that she
was still indeed fine like the doctor had assured me. I reached out my finger to graze her cheeks when I
felt hands grip my wrist. I stared up sharply into the eyes of the doctor. His eyes widened and on
realizing what he had done, his grip loosened off my wrist immediately.
“I am so sorry, Mr Ricci, but I didn’t want you to jolt her face or move it a little, because her brain is just
healing up and any slight movement could ruin the whole thing my team and I had worked on.” The
doctor said and I slowly felt tne slight anger that was starting to build in the inside of my chest, stern to
drain out immediately, after I started to reason with him and see the wisdom I his explanations.
“I am not going to touch her in a way that was going to move her face and jolt her body, I am not dumb,
Mr Doctor.” I said to him in a low voice, the expression on my face never switching from the blank
expression I had on my face since the moment I made my way into the ward.
“Yes sir, Mr Ricci, and I am sorry. Also, it isn’t Mr Doctor, it’s Mr–“ He started to say but I turned away
from him to glance back down at Sofia, automatically dismissing him to focus my attention on my baby
cousin.
I followed the finger that was slowly moving over her wrist which was on the other side of the bed and
took in how engrossed and deep in thoughts James looked as he moved his fingers ever so lightly over
Aria’s wrist while I had been busy arguing with tne doctor.
He glanced up at me and the moment our eyes locked, he pulled his fingers away from her wrist
immediately and inserted his hands deep into his pockets, taking a step away from the bed and
glancing away from my face.
If I had been having doubts and musings about if James had a thing for Aria, what I had just witnessed
right now, had taken that thought right out of the window instantly.
I kept on watching him and he lifted his eyes up after a few seconds, our eyes locked and dragged his
eyes away immediately, which proved the point I was trying to make in my head since last night.
This wasn’t like James at all, and it was very obvious. James wasn’t the kind of person to avert his
gaze away from mine in most cases, except if he was trying to hide something from me.
I dragged my gaze and focused it on Aria, placing on my thumb ever so lightly over her cheeks, the soft
and warm texture of her skin warmed my skin immediately and I dragged the thumb over her cheeks
ever so slightly, being completely careful so as not to mistakenly push or jolt her head around.
Come back to me, Aria.
I thought to myself as I dragged my thumb over another spot on her cheeks, a wry expression on my
face as I kept on staring down at her while my mind started to travel, the way it usually does.
Come back for me… and also for James, because it seemed like he was starting to be into you way
more that I had expected in the first place.
******
“You like Aria.” I said to James as we started to tug the hair protective cap off our heads as well as the
uncomfortable gown off our body, and I had decided to bring the topic immediately we left Aria’s ward,
knowing now was the perfect moment to bring it up.
He stated at me quietly for a few moments, seemingly froze in spot. But then he got himself back after
a few seconds and was moving once again, tugging his head out of the gown and discarding the gown
on the floor besude his foot, his face mask and hair protective cap followed suit. I stood in my spot
since I was done undressing and placed my hands deep in my pocket, staring at him intently and
daring him to deny that fact to my face.
He finally glanced up and stared into my face, our eyes locking almost immediately. I watched the way
he puffed some breath out of his mouth and threw his head back for a fleeting second before glancing
back at me to hold my gaze once agsin.
“I do?” He finally spoke up and his reply came out in form of a question, which made me narrow my
eyes at him as I dated him to keep up the lie.
He shrugged his shoulders once when I didn’t bring forth any reply, and started to speak again after a
few seconds once again.
“I mean, it is pretty obvious now, isn’t it?” He finally asked once again and I snorted once, still
narrowing my eyes at him.
“You tell me about it.” I said to him and he shrugged once again, his hands sliding deep into your
pockets to start vibrating in there once again.
“I do, ok? I do like her.” He said, his lips thinning into a small line immediately the confession was out of
his mouth and when I kept staring at him without saying a thing, I watched as color started to slowly
flood his cheeks.
My lord… he was getting embarrassed.
This was obviously, way serious that I was thinking, once again.
“Come on, say something Luca.” James pressed after a few more moments and the silence was
starting to drag out between us. We were still in the room where the doctor had shown us to get
dressed in the stuff in which we were to wear before we were able to step into Aria’s ward.
It was currently empty, but there was no guaranteed that there was nobody currently eavesdropping in
on our conversation at this very moment, and because of that, we weren’t going to be carrying out the
rest of the conversation in here.
“Let’s get out of here.” I said to him and nodded my head towards the entrance leading out of tne room
and once gave a small and firm nod of his head, I was turning around and making my way out of the
room, fully aware of tne fact that James had fallen into steps beside me.
We got into the elevator together and it was thankfully empty this time. There was a few feet of space
between us and I slowly started to tap my foot against the floor of tne elevator, lifting my gaze up to
stare into the mirror on the wall, noticing the way James wasn’t his usual goofy self.
He was so closed up and in a really dark mood, and then it hit me out of nowhere, all of a sudden.
He was just as affected as I was by the whole attack thing.
We stepped out of the elevator and started to walk side by side, our sides slightly brushing against
each other’s.
I started to speak once we got past the doorway of tne hospital, glancing sideways at James as I
brought up in question in a quiet voice.
“Since when?”
He glanced at me and shrugged once before dragging his way off my face to stare down at his feet as
we moved in sync.
“I really don’t know, man.”
I glanced at him and lifted my brow up daringly and he snorted a little as soon as he caught the facial
expression on my face.
