Chapter 1570 Threat!
Selena's question immediately caught the attention of Oscar and Patrick. Oscar looked at Selena's
face, but couldn't read her expression.
Patrick asked, "Why do you want to know?"
Selena touched her face and said, "I'm just curious. Why do people always say I look like... my father?"
If anyone else had heard this question, they might not have thought much of it. But Oscar and Patrick
knew exactly what Selena was asking.
She wasn't the real daughter of the Turner family.
But she looked so much like their daughter and had a personality similar to Callum... it was too
coincidental.
Oscar shook his head and gave a definitive answer, "No."
As the eldest son of the previous generation, he had seen both his younger brothers born. If he said
there wasn't another daughter in the Turner family who had been cast out or hidden away somewhere,
then it must be true.
The mother couldn't have been a Turner family member either since they didn't have any daughters
who were missing or unknown. Her father was from Riddle Group's royal family... so why did she
resemble someone from the Turner family so closely?
After pondering for a moment without finding an answer to her question, Selena pushed it aside and
remembered something about Diana obtaining Sacred Pearl at research institute. She stood up
saying,"Uncle , cousin , Diana has obtained Sacred Pearl which means trouble is brewing . I'll go deal
with her issue."
After speaking these words, Selena walked out with quick steps.
Patrick got up to see Selena off, while Oscar stayed in the lobby, pondering over her question. This girl
had a face identical to his niece's and a personality that was strikingly similar to Callum's. Was it really
just a coincidence? He couldn't help but think of the person who had swapped the two Selenas using
"God's Light" from behind. Why did it have to be these two girls? Both Selenas were in mortal danger
and someone behind this knew about their existence and also knew when they were in trouble.
Oscar felt like he had grasped onto something important. As he watched Selena leave, his expression This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
became inscrutable. After seeing her off, Patrick walked back into the room and asked his father if
there was anything he wanted to tell Selena earlier.
Oscar looked up at him with a serious expression on his face,"The power struggle for control of Central
City is intense right now and I have some suspicions that we shouldn't burden Selena with just yet."
Selena didn't have any spare energy at the moment anyway; telling her would only add more weight on
her shoulders.
Before Patrick could say anything else, Sherman suddenly walked into the room looking
strange,"Young Master, there is someone outside claiming to be Miss Turner's friend who has come all
this way specifically to visit The Turner Family."
Both Oscar and Patrick were taken aback by this news as Selena didn't really have any friends in the
capital.
Selena had just left when the visitor arrived unexpectedly. Patrick furrowed his brow while Oscar spoke
up, "Please let him in." A few moments later, Sherman ushered in a young man who was handsome
and elegant with gentle eyes and an alluring aura that made it hard to look away from him. Oscar
almost immediately guessed his identity at first glance.
Patrick looked at the man's handsome face, which carried a smile but for some reason made him feel
guarded. "And who might you be?" he asked.
The man smiled politely and replied, "My name is Stanley Soo. I am Selena's childhood friend."
Under the indifferent gaze of the Turner father-son duo, Stanley remained composed as he added, "We
grew up together."
Oscar lowered his eyes while Patrick's expression changed slightly. Selena had just been honest with
them about her past and now this person appeared out of nowhere.
Patrick turned to Sherman and said firmly, "Sherman, please take everyone else out."
Sherman looked at this guest whose charisma was off-the-charts before leading everyone out of the
living room.
In the lobby, only the Turner family father and son and Stanley were left.
"Mr. Soo, please have a seat," Oscar said.
Stanley walked over to sit across from Oscar and looked at the man in front of him. "Thank you for
taking care of Selena during her year in the capital."
Patrick's face darkened slightly. Although he knew Selena wasn't his blood relative, it was still jarring to
have someone come out of nowhere and openly try to take what was his.
Oscar remained calm. "It was nothing."
Stanley smiled slyly. "Selena has always been a kind and grateful child. She doesn't mind when others
owe her, but she hates owing anyone else. She's willing to endure hardships for that reason alone."
"She must have told you everything about her relationship with the Turner family by now," Stanley
continued. "Thank you for not hurting her after learning the truth."
Although Stanley's words sounded gentle, there was an underlying coldness that both members of the
Turner family could sense.
The fact that they hadn't hurt Selena meant that they had earned Stanley's gratitude today; however, if
they had hurt Selena in any way, this guest from central city might not be so friendly towards them.
Patrick spoke softly: "Selena has helped us a lot; we will never blame her."
Stanley's eyes deepened as he maintained his smile: "Thank you, Mr. Turner."
Oscar scrutinized the young man sitting across from him with something hidden in his eyes: "Mr. Soo
came here today; is there anything else?"
Stanley smiled elegantly, "I will soon bring Selena back to the city center, but before that, there is
indeed one thing that I need your help with."
He looked into Oscar's eyes and continued, "Mr. Anderson from the capital and Miss Turner from the
Turner family are engaged. This is a well-known fact in both the Turner family and throughout H
country."
"I hope you two can help safeguard this marriage for Miss Turner."
"Miss Turner has been alone for half her life and it's rare for her to find such a good match. As her
uncle and cousin, we cannot let her suffer any more hardships."
Oscar immediately confirmed his suspicions as he stared sharply at Stanley. "She's with you!"
Stanley smiled but did not deny it. "Rest assured Mr. Turner, Miss Turner is currently safe with me but
she still needs time to fully recover before returning home unscathed once Selena returns to the city
center."
"Just don't forget about the engagement between the Andersons and Turners," Stanley reminded them.
Patrick understood what Stanley meant by this statement and his face changed instantly as he said
accusingly,"You-"
But Stanley turned towards Patrick calmly saying,"Selena has been my fiancé since childhood; she
was always meant to be my wife once we were of age."
"It was because of a mistake on my part that I lost her which led her to become a daughter of the
Turner family."
"All mistakes must eventually return back to their origin... isn't that right?"
Patrick was moved by his deep affection in his eyes so much so that he could no longer say anything
angry except warn him gently,"What you're doing will hurt her!"
She doesn't love Osvaldo from your family! She hasn't even met him yet!
The relationship between Selena and that man was obvious to everyone. Doing so would make both
girls sad and upset.
