“Don’t mention! I’m here for you.” he told her.
Anita was a bit shocked at the statement, but she chooses not to let it show.
“I really needed you to show up, and then you did. So, I believe you.” she said aloud unconsciously.
When she realized what she said, she froze.
Then held her chest and walked to her seat.
“You don’t have to be wary of your words when talking to me. I really don’t mind you pouring out your feelings to the fullest when interacting with me.” he told her and turned to leave.
“I appreciate you!” Anita then said softly behind him.
He heard it and paused. He turned and looked at her for a bit with his bright eyes, smiled and finally left.
Anita held her burning cheeks as she giggled like a child.
Even she could freely admit that she felt free whenever she was interacting with Andre compared to her feelings whenever she was talking to Thomas.
Smiling, she got to work. There was a lot to do today.
Bringing out her pan, she drafted some things, then proceeded to focus on the system at the front of her.
At the City’s Police Station, Kate and Cass had long arrived and were with Officer Eric in his office with the lawyers.
“The Police are actively on this case. Do not worry, soon you will hear from the court.” Officer Eric assured them.
“I really hope so Officer Eric. I trust what you do as well.”
“Thanks for that. We have long discussed. I will keep you updated through your lawyers.” Officer Eric said to them.
“Sure! See you soon!” Cass said as he stood up holding Kate’s palm.
“Thank you Officer Eric! I really hope to hear from you soon.” Kate said to him which he nodded firmly in respond.
After the conversation, they gradually left the office.
As they passed the hallway, Kate unexpectedly bumped into someone which made her almost lose her fitting if not that Cass was there with her and holding her firmly.
When she stood better, she looked up at who had bumped into her like that and froze.
Liam?
Cass saw how she looked stunned and followed her sight only to also set his eyes on Liam.
Cass looked him up and down and smirked.
This was the fool that was messing with Kate and had even had the guts to use drugs against her.
“Kate? What are you doing here?” he asked her in surprise.
“Excuse me? What should I be doing here if not for the reason you and I knows. It’s so weird that you lose your memory every two to three days. What a shame!”
“I want us to talk.” he said in a hard tone like he wasn’t going to negotiate it.
“I’m sorry but I don’t think I have the time to waste.”
“What do you mean?”
“I meant to say that talking to you is a freaking waste of my precious time. What do you think?” she asked.
Liam starred at her for long without knowing what to say anymore. Even though he wanted to say something to her, Cass present wasn’t letting him. In his head, he refused to believe that Cass was an ordinary person, because what ordinary person would have such audacity as he portrays.
“Anyways, it seems like you’re short of explanation this time. See you in court.” she said to him and left the police station with Cass by her side.
Liam felt a bit defeated as he watched her leave with the man he wished was dead.
Without a choice at that moment, he turned and walked into his office, only to meet a letter on his desk.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw it.
Using his hand to brush his hair, he sat down on the chair and opened the letter.
This was what he prayed had never happened, but it looked like his prayer was not going to be answered.
He had been summoned by the higher-ups for explanation.
He punched his fists together as he let out a quiet but hard grunt.
His heart felt bitter as he folded his palm in anger.
Without a choice, he stood up with the letter and left the office.
On the desk of the higher ups of the filling station, Liam sat alone at their front as he was being bombarded with different questions.
Looking at their faces and into their eyes, it was very easy to see that they weren’t playing, especially when someone was in their midst.
Officer Eric was a police officer with high ranking position.
In this case and considering who were involved, he promised to follow it till the end.
“Do you realize that your alleged involvement in crimes is a slap to our faces?” one of them asked.
“I’m aware sir.” he replied.
“Good! In that case, tell us what you know.”
“I agree with the fact that we once dated, but I never used illegal drugs on her. In fact, I don’t do drugs.”
“She claimed that you used drugs on her. You have to speak the truth.” another one spoke up.
“I am saying my truth.” he insisted.
“Do you know the implication on actually committing these crimes and still lying to our faces?” Another asked.
“Did she provide you with any evidence? I will like to see it.” he said, shutting up the officers.
It then dawned on them that they have no concrete evidence. How were they then interrogating him?
They all felt stupid except Officer Eric who is very certain that he was evil and had actually committed the crime.
He knew him and his syndicate. They were pure disaster.
Seemed like he would have to focus more on evidence.
Liam felt a bit relaxed at the outcome.
At the end of the day, there was no evidence against him. He felt good with a stronger mindset that he would come out of this stronger and with a good compensation from the higher ups.
