And The Daddy Is… The Infertile Guy?!

Chapter 47

Chapter 47

“What the heck are those pills you sent over? It nearly got Howard killed.” Jeannie’s voice was sharp and piercing. “Last night, my folks nearly tore him a new one.”

“It’s a good thing. Girls just don’t get it.” Nathan argued back with conviction.

“What good thing? Don’t think I don’t know.” Jeannie retorted, holding a can of warm soup in her disdainful grip.

“I can’t explain it to you.” Nathan huffed.

Inside the room.

Gwendolyn removed all the acupuncture needles from Howard’s body and dressed him neatly.

“Nathan knows about your medical skills, and you don’t have to hide it in front of him. But my family doesn’t have clue.” Howard whispered.

“Okay.” Gwendolyn simply responded, “I’ll get the door.”

No sooner had she spoken than the door burst open. Jeannie and Nathan squeezed their way

1. in.

“Gwendolyn. Here to see you again. Mom made this soup herself, and it’s to build you guys up.” She boasted, holding up the thermos.

“Howard, you’re holding a grudge over some silly little pills. Was that really necessary?”

When Jeannie and Nathan get together, they gossip like a couple of chatty geese.

“Jeannie, take Gwendolyn out for a bit,” Howard said, rubbing his temples as he tried to separate them.

“Sure thing.”

Jeannie grabbed Gwendolyn’s arm, “Gwendolyn, it’s a lovely day. Let’s get some fresh air. Don’t stick around these stinky men. Their mindset’s bound to rub off on you in the worst way.”

She hinted with a pointed look.

Nathan couldn’t hide his irritation, “I’m not stooping to your level.”

“Hmph.”

“Let’s get going, Jeannie,” Gwendolyn urged.

The two women left quickly, and the room finally quieted down.

“Howard, you sure can hold a grudge.” Nathan flopped down beside him on the bed, “What’s with the disheveled look in broad daylight? You up to something naughty?”

“Can’t you talk like a normal person?” Howard slowly smoothed out his clothes, retorting.

“Alright.” Nathan tossed a stack of papers in front of him, “Bainbridge is brown–nosing Summit Corp’s project manager, Larkin, invited him to dinner tonight. Larkin wants to know how to handle it.”

“Let him go. Send a few guys who can hold their liquor, and drink Bainbridge under the table.” Howard spoke calmly.

“Got it.” Nathan replied in a nonchalant tone, “Do you want me to get some guys to knock some sense into him?”

“Just a stomach bleed will do. Then bait him with a big promise, lure him into signing a ‘betting agreement.“”

Nathan grinned, “Gotcha.”

Howard was dark.

He wanted to snatch all the shares from the main Chadwick family branch.

“Nathan, buy me some doctors.” Howard looked at him and instructed, “The discreet kind, those who can be bought.”

“What do you need doctors for?”

“You’ll find out in a couple of days.”

Nathan nodded, “There’s one more thing I need to tell you.”

Howard lifted his chin to signal him to continue.

“Your dad called me today and said he really liked that little pill. I sent him the rest, and just reminded him not to overdo it,” he said hesitantly.

A sharp look crossed Howard’s eyes.

Nathan chickened out, “I just remembered some urgent business at the company, gotta run.”

In the villa district.

Gwendolyn and Jeannie walked arm in arm along the path, surrounded by the affluent neighborhood with its vast expanses. Each little villa was luxuriously decorated.

“Gwendolyn, are you really starting your hospital internship tomorrow? You need me to come and show some muscle?” Jeannie looked at her, soft and delicate, always worried she’d get the short end of the stick outside.

Gwendolyn laughed, “I’m not going there to pick a fight.”

“Let’s take a different route.” Jeannie pulled her around, “That side’s bad vibes.”

Gwendolyn noticed a flash of disgust in her eyes and asked, “What’s up?” NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

“It’s about Howard’s car accident. You wouldn’t believe what happened back then.” Jeannie started, but her sentence was cut short as she spotted a man approaching them.
