Chapter 27: Let's Break Up
Chapter 27: Let's Break Up
Alvera stood rooted to the same spot for what seemed like a long time.
The voice behind her called her again. "Alvera."
It took her all her strength to clam her breathing before turning to look at the owner of the voice with a
faint smile.
...
"Long time no see, Antoine Francois."
She looked at him. He still looked the same as he did four years ago.
He was tall and thin with handsome features. The only thing that changed was his hairstyle, which
made him looked more mature.
"I'm sorry." Antoine lowered his eyes and he was shuddering. "Alvera, I'm really sorry." NôvelDrama.Org content rights.

Alvera smiled. "We haven't seen each other for so long, and the first thing you do is apologize? That's a
little weird. It's okay."
"No, don't say it's okay. You should hate me. You can hit me or curse me, but don't say it's okay, Alvera.
Your attitude is scaring me."
Alvera's expression was very calm as if it was just a normal friend standing in front of her. "I don't
blame you for avoiding me with the situation at that time. I don't hate you."
...
"Alvera, the situation wasn't what you thought it was, I — "
"Actually, I wanted to see you too," Alvera interrupted. "There are some things we didn't get to talk
about four years ago. Antoine, it's time for closure."
"No." Antoine stepped forward and grabbed her by her shoulders. "There's nothing to close between
us. Alvera, I'm back, I'll take you away."
He looked at her with deep affection, but his heart was bitter.
When she looked up at him, her expression was still calm and unchanging. "Let's break up."
"I won't break up with you." Antoine shook his head firmly. "I never thought about breaking up with you."
"Everyone has a first love that ends without any pain. We are the same," Alvera said calmly. "We're
both grownups now, Antoine, our past should be gone with the wind. I've decided. If you're really sorry,
then the best thing to do is to not bother me anymore. We... can never be together again."
She lifted her wrist and checked the time. "Sorry, I have something to do. Bye."
She turned around, got into the car, and closed the door.
Antoine reached for the handle, but she had already locked the car doors.
"Alvera, open the door. Let's talk. Don't be like this, Alvera," he pleaded.
Alvera did not look at him. She just put her foot on the accelerator and left.
The car rolled into a stop at the entrance of the parking lot of the supermarket. She leaned on the
steering wheel and closed her eyes.
It turned out to be hurt when you saygoodbye to your entire youth.
She had thought it would be easy for her to meet Antoine again now, but in reality, it was really hard.
Suddenly, her phone rang. Seeing that it was Samuel, she picked up immediately. "Samuel."
...
"Promise me, do whatever I ask of you next," Samuel said over the phone.
"Huh, why so serious?"
"Promise me first," he insisted.
"Okay, I promise." She nodded. "Go ahead, what's the matter?"
"Antoine is back. You are not allowed to see him. You are not allowed to have any contact with him. Cut
him off clearly."
Alvera fell silent.
"Hello? Are you there?"
"You should have called half an hour earlier, then I could've avoided him," she said.
"You saw him? The b*stard went and saw you?"
"Yeah. I made good on my promise actually. I've talked to him. Don't worry, I won't... we won't continue
the relationship. I'm not dumb."
"That's good," Samuel said and felt relieved. "Do you still remember that charity auction you asked me
to arrange?"
"Yeah."
"It's ready. Just set a time."
"How about... tomorrow night?"
"Okay. I'll go and make the preperations. Don't forget your promise."
"Trust me."
After hanging up, Alvera leaned on the seat.
She hesitated for a minute, then took out her phone again. She found Roland's number in her contacts
and called him.
Roland was surprised to see Alvera calling him.
He answered. Alvera's soft voice came over the phone. "Mr. Francois, are you free at noon later? I
want to treat you to lunch."
