Chapter 125
Chapter 125
“What was in it?” Ethan asked, his curiosity piqued. “Nothing unusual,” Axel answered, and Ethan
sighed, relaxing back into his s cat.
However, his wolf remained numb, senses dulled; there was no way it was ordinary,
“I don’t think it’s in the drink. Still, keep an eye out, though,” Axel warned warned.
“You don’t have to tell me twice,” Ethan responded.
“I already took some samples of both kids; I’ll have them tested out.” Axel asserted with a sigh.
“Don’t breathe a word about this out,” Ethan cautioned.
After a moment of silence, Ethan broached a question that had been on his mind for some days now.
“Did you know, Axel, that Bella’s been mistreating serva nts?” Ethan asked.
“You found out, huh? It’s about time, don’t you think?” Axel muttered instead.
“So you knew?” Ethan inquired.
“Not really, there were signs,” Axel answered.
“Signs I didn’t and somehow couldn’t see,” Ethan sighed again.
“Where did Bella come from? How did you meet her?” Axel asked thoughtfully.
“It’s a long story. There are a whole lot of blank spaces when it comes to her,” Ethan sighed defeatedly.
“Did I ever tell you about that? No one seemed to identify Bella. The one person who did, at a meeting
one day. Bella, she claimed it was a mistake. That the woman misidentified her, and a day later she’s
dead,” Ethan mumbled thoughtfully.
“Who?” Axel asked.
“Pack elder Naomi. I thought it was suspicious, but when I tried looking into it, I was told she had died
in her sleep, and that it might actually have been a mistake.”
“That’s suspicious,” Axel mused thoughtfully.
“Now that I think of it, it really is. Although her family member said she was sick and mixed up details.
That she had Alzheimer.” Ethan frowned sitting up as he mulled over what he had heard.

“That seems convenient,” Axel said with a frown.
“I know,” Ethan said, thinking now.
“I’ll look into this some more. Into Naomi, maybe pay her family another visit soon. Some other person
apart from Naomi might have known Bella or can give me more information on how she passed,” Ethan
thought out loud.
“What is Bella hiding?” Ethan asked quietly.
“I think it’s best we just let everything lie low for now,” Axel suggested.
Ethan nodded. “Yes, just have the new samples tested out. I need the results as soon as possible.”
“It would take about three days,” Axel informed him.
“I know,” Ethan responded. “Don’t breathe a word about it to anyone. Just have the samples tested,
under different names if possible,” he warned in a serious tone.
“I know,” Axel responded.
“This isn’t my first road trip.”
When Ethan got home, he found Bella waiting for him.
When Bella saw Ethan, her eyes searched his features for an answer, an expression to give her a lead
on what had happened. Ethan, she observed, looked rather calm, too calm for someone who just lost a
loved one. Bella hid the look of anxiousness on her face.
“Ethan, is everything okay?” she asked, seeing his tired but serene look.
“Yes, why?” he answered.
“Nothing,” she replied slowly, feeling a little disappointed. Could it be that they had failed? If they had
succeeded, Ethan wouldn’t have been home that early.
“Join me to eat,” she tried convincing him.
“Not hungry,” he replied strongly. Her face fell immediately. It had been a while since they dined
together. At this rate, he might actually recover. And what did Ethan mean?
She watched as Ethan headed up the stairs, a frown deepening on her face. She hurriedly grabbed her
hidden phone and made her way to the bathroom in her study.
“Did
you fail?” she growled out at Sebastian the moment he picked up. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
“I was going to call you, but then I remembered you said I shouldn’t contact you first,” Sebastian
muttered.
“Ethan just got home, he looks too calm for someone who just lost someone, so that means you failed
me!” she gritted out angrily.
“We weren’t supposed to; the boy was right there.”
“So you failed!” she cried.
“You’re useless!” she yelled in anger.
“Not my fault, we watched for the right opportunity. Some man grabbed him right out of the way,” came
the exasperated reply.
“What nonsense are you on about?”
“I saw someone grab the child right out of the way. I was there to watch the scene to make sure it was
carried out as ordered and clear any loopholes, but then the boy was in place, someone grabbed him
out in the nick of time,” Sebastian replied.
“Was it Ethan?” she asked, a deep frown gracing her face.
“No, it wasn’t. He and his assistant arrived minutes later; it was someone else entirely.”
“This man dove in risking his life; I couldn’t stay to check. I left immediately.”
Who could it be?!
Bella bit her lips and fingers anxiously pacing around.
“You want us to try again?” he asked.
“No!”
“You’ll definitely fail; Ethan’s not stup id. You can’t try the same tricks twice on him.” And besides, he
had been keeping her at arm’s length. He even insisted on handling things she used to take care of
there in the pack himself. He was becoming immune to her.
She sighed, feeling a headache coming on. “Just onto the next one. Make sure you don’t fail me this
time!” she ordered.
“We won’t fail you,” came the response, assuring her of executing it to the latter this time.
“Don’t contact me; I’ll be the one to reach out to you. Understood?” she reminded him.
“Yes.”
“You know what, hold on for a few days, just so as not to arouse suspicion.”
Derrick sat in the dimly lit room, swallowing more pain relief pills as his broken flesh protested against
each movement. His broken flesh and injuries on his b*dy had split open, a testament to the recent
ordeal of rolling on the unforgiving ground.
Few hours ago he been sitting just watching Liam play with his dog and ball when he saw that white
van heading to where he stood. Derrick was really close by, without thinking he had dived immediately
into the place.
Sitting and watching the small family silently was slowly becoming his routine.
Sometimes he would just sit and wonder, did he have a place there? Would that have been his life if
that incident hadn’t happened? Watching them was becoming a small part of his day.
Then he noticed Liam standing innocently there, he had rushed out instinctively without even thinking,
his mind went completely numb and before he knew it, he had reached out grabbing the b*dy and
rolling off with him.
He saved him.
“Why did I do that?” He questioned himself. Risking his life to save Ethan’s kids when he was
supposed to plot how to get rid of them.
They were currently Ethan’s source of joy.
The best way to hurt a person was taking the people or the person who they loved the most. To torture
Ethan to the end as he had planned, he should have just let the van hit the child. That would put Ethan
in enough agony. But he didn’t even realize when he had thrown himself into danger for the sake of the
child.
Liam only raised his frightened head meeting his eyes with his tears filled one. His eyes were so much
like Ethan’s. And then he had just released the boy then hobbled away from the scene.
His b*dy was still in pain. His semi healed skin had started to develop puss from being rolled on the
floor. Everything hurt badly
He was about loosing his mind. Grabbing another case of drugs he shoved it down his throat hurriedly.
Enough of this madness already Derrick! He scolded himself.
“Hey, mister, you’re the man who saved me, right?” Liam called out with curiosity in his eyes. Derrick
turned to meet the gaze of the adorable faced Liam.

Liam’s inquisitive eyes scanned Derrick. “Why are you completely covered? Are you a superhero? Is
that why your face is covered? To keep your identity secret?” Liam bombarded him with innocent
questions, taking cautious steps closer.
Derrick remained silent, his gaze running over the boy. He wasn’t badly hurt, just a few sca tches in
different places. Liam, not deterred, approached him further. “I know you’re the one who saved me.
You’ve been watching for some days now, haven’t you?” Liam probed. “Are you a guardian or
something?” he added innocently.
The name ‘Liam’ rang out,
My Hazel’s voice called for her son.
“Coming Mummy.” Liam turned away momentarily, expecting Derrick to still be there, but Derrick had
vanished.
“He’s gone?” Liam mumbled to himself.
“Who?” Hazel asked half-heartedly walking to her son.
Liam blinked, feigning innocence. “Nob*dy,” he replied rapidly.
Curious to check if the little boy he saved was unharmed, Derrick had returned to the hospital the next
morning. However, Liam had caught on and was actually waiting for him. Planning to take a quick look
at the family and then leave, Derrick found himself exposed when he heard Hazel’s voice. Instead of
waiting, he fled.
“Get a grip, Derrick,” he muttered to himself. Liam had asked if he was a guardian. Derrick scoffed. “I’m
the man who’s going to become your worst nightmare, kid,” he mumbled under his breath, a dark
promise lingering in the air.
