EPISODE 34 The new face
MOON STONE PACK
When he mentioned having a conversation she didn’t know it would be just about her and the time spent with a warlord.
“How close are we to the hall?” Meagan asked.
“We are almost there.” Jones answered. They lapsed into silence but he broke it off soon.
“I bet it you don’t remember me anymore, Meagan Swift.” Jones chuckled.
Meagan looked up at him with a confused look on her face. “I am not sure I have met you before now.”
“Of course you have met but you probably don’t remember me or my face. I am Jones, Hazel’s older cousin. The same guy who once asked you out.” Jones explained and her breathe caught.
“Jones the keppa?!” Meagan gasped out in shock.
Jones nodded in agreement as laughter erupted from him. Meagan remember him so clearly. The time she had sneaked away from home to visit Hazel at the pack, Jones was one of the wolves her best friend had introduced to her.
Jones had fell in love with Meagan almost immediately and he stayed around her for the few days she had spent in the pack. She recalled him texting her in college to confess his love to her but she didn’t give him the attention he wanted. Meagan had been clear that she doesn’t feel anything for him.
Jones had suggested several meet ups in those times but she never saw him once. She didn’t want to keep his hope high by going out with him. Even Hazel didn’t try to persuade her best friend to date her cousin. And when she saw that Meagan wasn’t interested in Jones she had to tell him to step aside and let her be.
Something wasn’t quite right. The face of this man wasn’t the face she knew back then even aside the fact that they are all grown ups now.
“I remember you. But why do you look so different?” Meagan asked.
“Hazel didn’t tell you?” Jones questioned.
Meagan tilted her head sideways to look at him. “Tell me what?”
He smiled. “This face you are seeing isn’t my real face.”
Meagan furrowed her eyebrows. “I don’t understand you, Jones.”
“I had surgery to fix my face after a fire outbreak in our home.” Jones replied.
Meagan eyes widened in surprise. “Really?! Why?! Oh sorry.. the fire outbreak.. how did it happened?” She blurted out.
“I guess Hazel didn’t tell you.” Jones laughed at the look on her face. Her expression was if he had suddenly grown two heads. And Jones was acting like whatever had happened to him wasn’t a big deal anymore.
“A fire broke out in our home few months after you came visiting. Actually my mom didn’t remember to turn off the gas completely and my wolf wasn’t sensitive enough to smell it because I was ill. Prior to that day, I got bitten by a poison snake when I went out hunting with a few wolves. The poison had spread throughout my wolf limbs before I was brought to the pack. And the poison weakened my wolf completely.” Jones explained.
“Wait… I think Hazel told me about her cousin involving in a fire accident but she didn’t give me a full details of the incident.” A pitiful look crossed her expression.
Jones shook his head. “The fire broke out but I tried to save myself even after getting burnt. It affected some parts of my body… my face especially and it had taken months for me to heal completely. So surgery was the only option I had to have a good looking face again. And well I had few major surgeries done too.” He pointed to his face.
“I am sorry. I didn’t know it was that serious.” Meagan mumbled.
“It’s alright. Although at some point I thought you knew about it and didn’t want to meet me because of the reason.” Jones chuckled.
“Oh no, why would you think that way? I clearly had no idea you went through all of that. Hazel never mentioned it that it was you who got involved in a fire accident.” Meagan defended herself.
Jones agreed. “I know that now.” The car pulled to a stop slowly. “Although I still don’t mind knowing why you turned me down.”
“The feelings just wasn’t there.” Meagan answered.
“Back then when we met, I thought you felt something for me that’s why I had to wait to make my move while in college and by that time I was so sure about my feelings for you.” Jones removed his seat belt before turning to focus on her.
Meagan tried to find a hint of the eighteen years old boy she once met when she was just sixteen but the face wasn’t there anymore. This new face was nicely sculpted by a plastic surgeon. And Jones had lots of tattoos on his arms.
“It took me a very long time to realize why my feelings had set in for you. It was a serious crush that had made me head over heels for you. I figured that it was your warm, nice and friendly manner that had encouraged me to make a move on you. And well… I refused to accept the fact that it’s just who you are, Meagan.” Jones expressed.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
“Jones, we were kids so I didn’t think that playing with you would get us anywhere.” Meagan responded.
Jones nodded in disagreement. “Exactly what I tried to tell myself over and over again throughout the years. But seeing you again ignited the feelings.”
“So what are you insinuating, Jones?” Meagan asked.
“Listen Meagan, I don’t mean to pressure you. I understand that we haven’t seen each other in years but we can start from somewhere – maybe over again. A dinner out with me and also have a good time together. And I found out from Hazel about your residence and it turned out that we aren’t far apart.” Jones had a huge smile on his face.
“I’ll think about it, Jones.” Meagan sighed.
“Are you sure? Are you going to reply my text messages and also pick up my calls?” Jones demanded.
Meagan shook her head. “Yes.”
And they exchanged numbers right there before sliding out of the car. They bounced up the five stairs leading to the door before entering into the hall.
