Chapter Six
Six
“Your Majesty, you sent for me,” she curtsied, bowing her head.
The man frowned and cleared his throat. “I have told you several times not to call me that when we are alone,”
They were in his study where he spent most of his time studying or doing nothing most of the time.
“I apologize, my lord. I fear that she may find out,” she told him, scrunching her face.
“Is that the reason why you refused my presence?” He asked and scoffed. “Do you think I can’t do as I please?”
“Come,” He beckoned on her and she went around the table and sat on his lap.
He wrapped his hand around her waist and used the other to touch her nose making her giggle.
He pressed his lips on hers and they shared a quick but romantic kiss.
“Fear not, my love for you’re the only one who has my heart,” he winked and she kissed him.
Silence reigned as they devoured their lips. Her hand trailed over his chest as she let go of his lips.
He picked a book to continue studying but her hands would not stop moving.
“What do you need?” He asked, his lips curving into a small smile. He always knew when she wanted something.
She shook her head still trailing her fingers on his chest. He grabbed her hand and kissed her fingers, looking up at her from beneath his eyelashes.
“Perhaps are you beginning to have doubts and think that I am incapable?” He asked, gazing at her.
She smiled and shook her head. “Of course not, my love,” she replied. “I just need a change of clothes that’s all,”
“I thought you did that a few weeks ago?” he asked, his eyebrows knitted together in a frown.
She pouted and removed her hand from his grip, turning her head in the opposite direction. “Why are you so bent on embarrassing me? I did not want to mention for this reason. What would others think when-”
“Alright. You can go to the usual,” he told her and she smiled, getting up and pressing her lips against his lingering a little longer.
“Thank you so much, my love,” she kissed him again, hands going to his cravat.
He kissed her back but removed her hand refusing her. She let go and frowned.
“I have lots of work to handle, love,” He nudged his head towards the stacks of papers on the desk.
“Oh,” They kissed again before letting go.
“I miss you,”
“Me too,” she pouted and hugged him before walking towards the door but turned when she recalled something. “Shall we meet at the usual later on?”
A naughty smile threaded his lips. “Sure,”
She drew her dress upwards revealing her long toned legs and winked before finally walking away.
As days rolled by, Cassy was no longer bored as she spent her time with the servants helping them with chores. That was what omegas were made to do anyway.
Whenever she was alone, she couldn’t help but think about Kai. She had not set her eyes on him since the day she entered the palace. She couldn’t help but wonder if he hated her that much.
When she felt too lonely, she hated herself for not allowing him to reject her.
He never cared about her presence or her welfare and he didn’t even try to fake it, at least to save her from shame.
She was better off alone, she had thought.
But then, there was Tabitha.
Cassy tossed around in her bed, that night. Her mind was occupied with a lot of things, some of which she couldn’t point out.
She woke up the following day, got dressed with the help of her maid and went to join the servants as usual but this time with a plan at heart.
“Where is the alpha?” she asked as they dished out meals.
“In his bedchamber, my lady,” Daryl replied and Cassy nodded.
“I would serve him,” she announced, placing a few dishes into a tray.
She couldn’t help but notice the way the servants went quiet, throwing her a glance she could not interpret.
“But, my lady, you are not-” a servant was going to say but Daryl’s glare hushed her.
“Take those to the other servants,” she spoke sternly and sent her a glare.
Cassy stared at them, trying to understand what was going on but still, she was confused.
“You can go now, my lady,” Daryl told her with a smile.
Cassy returned the smile and took the tray heading to Kai’s bedchamber with Joanna trailing behind her. When she was almost there, she met a familiar lady who was looking happy but her expression turned sour, setting her eyes on her.
“My Lady,” she curtsied and bowed.
Cassy only nodded and continued walking. She did not mean to act that way but she had no idea what made her act in that way.
Pushing the thought behind her, she knocked on his door but she did not get any reply.
Perhaps he was in his room, she thought entering while Joanna waited outside. She was greeted with a large parlour with rich paintings on the wall, three chairs and a table in the middle, to the right was another door which she thought led to his main chamber. It also had a balcony just like hers.
She dropped the tray and opened the door only to meet him shirtless but he was oblivious of her presence. Her eyes ran down his body taking in his appearance.
Tight abs, large muscles, war scars and…..
Her eyes went downwards and she screamed turning around.
“I did not see anything! I saw nothing!” she screamed, covering her eyes with her small hands.
How come did he not know she was here?
“What are you doing here?” He yelled, pulling on his breeches.
“My lady, what–” Joanna screamed and ran out. She had heard her lady screaming but she did not expect to see what she was not supposed to.
“Shit,” He cursed.
“I–I only wanted to bring you breakfast,” she replied stuttering.
“Why is it you bringing me breakfast?”
“I–I just wanted to,” came her reply. She was beginning to get upset, did her presence irritate him so much? Why was he asking too many questions?
He walked past her now fully dressed and she followed him. He sat on one of the chairs not even showing interest in the food.
“Are you not going to have–”
“I never mentioned that I would not,” he did not let her finish.
Cassy nodded vigorously still standing. She stood for a while, expecting him to start eating and at least compliment her cooking. It took her a while to prepare but he did not seem interested, making her heart clench.
She shifted her weight to another foot, telling herself to wait a little longer.
“Are your legs not hurting?” He asked without looking up from the paper he was holding and Cassy nodded. “What are you waiting for?”
“Then I would take my leave,” For a moment she thought he cared but she was wrong. He was only irritated.
She was already at the door but his voice halted her. “You would accompany me to a luncheon soon,”
Cassy only nodded. She did not want to speak for she was boiling with anger.
Joanna followed bombarding her with questions as they headed back to the kitchen.
“Did you share a kiss with the alpha? How was it? Did–”
“Can you please stop asking me stupid questions, Joanna!?” Cassy was almost yelling making the poor girl flinch. It was the first time she was hearing her yell.
Joanna went quiet immediately, knowing her lady was probably very mad at something.
They were almost at the kitchen when they heard someone shouting. It was from the kitchen.
“What is going on?” Cassy asked hasting her steps.
“What kind of meal is this!? Who prepared this dog food!?” she was yelling at Daryl who bowed her head like a loyal servant.
“Shut your mouth!” Cassy hollered, shocking everyone.
Cassy saw that Daryl was not going to react which annoyed her more. Who does this girl think she is?
Isabella turned, hearing her voice. She couldn’t believe a good for nothing omega was talking to her in such a manner.
“I prepared it and so what?” Cassy continued seeing how dumbfounded the other lady was. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
The grumpy lady looked familiar. She tried to think of where she had seen her but ended up pushing the thought away.
The most important thing was to put her in her place.
Isabella glared at Daryl before walking out, fuming.
“Why could you not say anything when she insulted you?” Cassy asked Daryl as soon as Isabella left.
Daryl shook her head and smiled. “Nothing, my dear child. Some people do not deserve to get your anger,”
Cassy nodded. “But please do not allow her to take advantage of your kindness, alright?”
Daryl nodded and smiled.
“I would take my leave now. See you at lunch,” Cassy hugged her before leaving.
Daryl watched the maiden leaving.
So pure hearted. She deserved better, was her thought.
