When he gazed into the distance, Alpha Kilian’s eyes narrowed, fixating on the shreds of garments entwined among the gnarled branches. The sight sent a surge of elation through his veins, fueling his determination. Those deliberate markers, left by an unknown hand, were a glimmering shred of hope in the midst of their arduous search.
The additional member of their pack, sensing the renewed energy coursing through their veins, couldn’t help but voice their admiration. “Ordinarily, escaping these treacherous woods would be an impossible feat. Whether those markers were intended for herself or another, it was undeniably a stroke of brilliance!”
Alpha Kilian heard the words, but his focus remained unyielding. Every fiber of his being yearned to reunite with Donna. “Donna!” His voice cut through the stillness as he pressed forward, guided by the trail of markers. Yet, to his despair, only silence answered his desperate call.
Undeterred, Alpha Kilian propelled onward, doggedly following the markers that shimmered with a whisper of hope. “I know Donna awaits me!”
Meanwhile, Nelly, Tony, and Ben had arrived at the coordinates set by the GPS. They scoured the vicinity meticulously, but Donna remained elusive, concealed by the shadowy depths of the forest.
“Donna!”
“Donna!”
Tony and Ben continued to call out her name, unwilling to surrender their pursuit.
Even Nelly, her heart pounding in her chest, surveyed the surroundings with mounting anxiety. The GPS had led them here, implying Donna’s proximity. Where could she be?
With each passing moment, Nelly’s apprehension deepened.
Suddenly, Ben’s gaze shot upwards, catching something amiss. “Tony, look! Two caverns up there! I’ll investigate one!”
Tony followed Ben’s line of sight. “I’ll tackle the other!”
“Agreed!” Ben nodded. On the precipice of advancing, Tony’s voice cut through the air, laced with concern. “Take care, Ben!”
“I shall!” Ben’s confidence reverberated as he embarked on his ascent.
Witnessing Ben’s safe ascent, Tony followed suit, venturing into the recesses of the caverns.
Their meticulous search yielded naught, leaving them disheartened as they emerged, shaking their heads in defeat.
“Let’s descend for now,” Tony suggested, his voice laced with resignation.
Ben concurred, and the pair began their cautious descent. Yet, fate had other plans, as Ben lost his footing, hurtling uncontrollably downwards. “Ben!” Tony’s anguished cry pierced the air.
Nelly whirled around at the sound of Tony’s voice, her eyes widening as she witnessed Ben’s perilous descent. She sprinted towards him, her heart drumming with fear.
“Ben!” Nelly hurled herself at his side, urgently inspecting him for injuries. “Are you alright? Any wounds?”Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
Ben bore scratches and minor abrasions on his face and arms, his scowl masking the pain. With a dismissive shake of his head, he replied, “Worry not, Nelly. I’m unharmed. Unfortunately, Donna is not within those caverns.”
Comforting words flowed from Nelly’s lips. “Fear not. If Donna isn’t here, she must await us elsewhere!” Ben nodded, finding solace in her conviction.
Suddenly, Tony rushed over to Ben, his voice laden with concern. “Are you alright, Ben?” Tony peered closer, inspecting the wound etched upon Ben’s visage. His furrowed brow betrayed his worry. “You’re hurt.”
A nonchalant wave of the hand followed, Ben brushing off the concern. “Tis but a trifling wound. It shall not claim my life.”
“No! Perhaps it is best for you to retreat. Nelly and I shall persist in our search!” Tony offered with genuine concern.
“‘Tis a wasted effort, expending energy on retreat now! I would rather stand by your side. My injuries are insignificant. Trivial!” Ben asserted, rejecting Tony’s suggestion.
Before Tony could continue his retort, Ben’s hand brushed against something, arousing curiosity. Stooping to seize it, the trio collectively gasped at the discovery that lay within Ben’s grip.
Fixing his gaze on the timepiece encircling his wrist and then glancing at the one adorning Tony’s, Ben’s eyes widened with shock. He extended the watch to Nelly, for it belonged to Donna. “Nelly, this is Donna’s timepiece!”
As Nelly accepted the watch, inspecting its pristine state, devoid of blemishes or bloodstains, a wave of relief washed over her. Her gaze glimmered with newfound determination. “If Donna’s watch lies here, she has treaded this path. Our quest must persist, for we shall find her!”
Ben nodded fervently, bolstered by her unwavering resolve.
