Upon arriving upstairs, Alpha Kilian strode straight to Tony’s room. The door swung open the moment he knocked, and Tony was waiting for him, unfazed by his sudden appearance. “Are you still awake?” Alpha Kilian asked, his voice low and commanding.
Tony nodded, his eyes fixed on the Alpha’s towering form.
“Can we have a chat inside?” Alpha Kilian suggested, and Tony widened the door with a nod, inviting him in.
The room had served as Alpha Kilian’s and Nelly’s matrimonial room ever since Alpha King Larry had prepared it for them. But Alpha Kilian had never stayed in it; it wasn’t until two days ago, when Alpha King Larry had wanted to renovate Alpha Kilian’s room for Tony, that he moved his things over.
Tony studied the room’s decor as Alpha Kilian spoke, “Does this room fill you with melancholy?”
Alpha Kilian lowered his gaze, ashamed of the pain in his heart. He looked back at Tony. “More than that, it fills me with immense regret,” he admitted candidly.
Tony sat on his bed with a slight cock of his brow, waiting for Alpha Kilian to speak.
“I know you still blame me, but I would still like to declare that I want to pursue your mommy again. This is not an impulsive decision made on a whim, but one for the rest of my life. I want to make it up to her by loving and protecting her for eternity.”
Alpha Kilian’s tone was resolute, his voice vibrating with a sense of purpose and determination that Tony found almost overpowering.
“So?” Tony raised his brow, waiting for Alpha Kilian to explain further.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“You have to help me. Or at the very least, don’t get in my way,” Alpha Kilian revealed honestly, aware that it was more efficient to be direct with Tony.
“Why should I trust you?” Tony quipped back, his eyes glistening with defiance.
“Because, as your daddy, I won’t lie to you,” Alpha Kilian countered, his voice firm. “I vow upon my integrity that what you’re worried about won’t happen.”
Tony stared at him with a steely glint, sensing that Alpha Kilian had upped his game recently. He couldn’t easily forgive the former, for fear that Alpha Kilian would take it for granted.
Still, after a moment’s deliberation, Tony replied, “Fine, I agree not to get in your way. However, if you hurt Nelly, I will make sure you’ll never see her again, regardless of who you are.”
Despite Tony’s bombastic claim, Alpha Kilian didn’t doubt his words one bit. Looking at Tony, he was reminded of his younger self, and the realization filled him with a sense of nostalgia.
“Don’t worry,” Alpha Kilian smiled. “You won’t have the chance to do that.”
“I sure hope so,” Tony answered.
“In that case, won’t you consider helping me?” Alpha Kilian gave him a pleading look.
“Isn’t it more sincere for you to clear up your own mess?” Tony quipped back, giving Alpha Kilian a measure of his own medicine.
Alpha Kilian nodded, impressed by Tony’s quick wit and sharp intellect. “You’re right. I should.”
“I look forward to it,” Tony replied, his eyes shining with a sense of mischief Alpha Kilian found endearing.
“Without a doubt,” Alpha Kilian beamed.
“It’s getting late, so I’m going to bed now. Good night,” Tony implied, his tone suddenly urgent.
Alpha Kilian turned around, ready to leave, when something occurred to him. “There’s one more thing.”
Tony raised his brow, waiting for him to speak.
“Your mommy… What was she working as overseas?” Alpha Kilian inquired, trying to sound casual.
Tony narrowed his gaze, sensing that there was more to Alpha Kilian’s curiosity than he let on. “Why are you asking about that?”
“She seems… rich?” Alpha Kilian hinted, his eyes darting to Tony, who felt a sudden jolt in his stomach.
A glint flashed in Tony’s eye, a glimmer of something feral and fierce. Looking at Alpha Kilian, he threw the question back with a smile. “Is it because a woman who has no interest in your money will be difficult?”
“I have never thought of using money to buy her love. I was just curious about it,” Alpha Kilian countered, aware that Tony was testing him.
“That’s a wise decision,” Tony acknowledged, his voice smooth and silky.
“You’re avoiding my question,” Alpha Kilian continued to stare at him, his eyes smoldering with a sense of challenge.
Tony quipped, “There’s no need to be so direct,” his voice suddenly husky and deep.
His response intensified Alpha Kilian’s curiosity about Nelly’s real job, and he nodded in acknowledgment. “Okay, I understand. I’ll personally find out what mystery she has hidden beneath the surface.”
“Good luck,” Tony smiled, his eyes flickering with a sense of amusement.
“Goodnight,” Alpha Kilian muttered, sensing that he had been tricked by Tony.
“By the way, Ben and I share a unified stance. There’s no need for you to speak with him,” Tony informed.
Alpha Kilian turned around and gave him a look, sensing that Tony had gotten the better of him yet again. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration for his son, who was a lot cleverer than he had thought. “I got it,” he muttered, realizing that his children were growing up to be his equals.
Once he left, a mysterious smile emerged on Tony’s face. ‘It seems that he has become suspicious. Soon, Mommy’s identity will be known to him. Alpha Kilian, when that happens, I hope that you can still stay as calm as you are now.’
