Branch One Hundred and Fifty Nine
“What took you so long? Shall we go?” Jessica asked Xavier immediately after he entered the room.
“Yeah,” he said absentmindedly.
“Dawson, I’ll see you soon, I’ll come visit,” she said as she walked to the door.
“I know you will” Dawson teased and Jessica rolled her eyes at him. Xavier Walked out of the room without uttering a single word. Jessica knew from the expression on his face that something had gone wrong. She wanted to ask but she did not want to be seen as pushy.
“Isn’t Genevieve going with us?”
“No, she still has a lot of tests to go through and it might take a while. I have phoned home and they will send a driver to take her home” Xavier replied.
“Oh okay,” she said when she could not think of anything better to say.
She was glad he was still responsive. She did not know what to do or say to him to make him feel better. They entered into the car and Xavier began to drive.
She hated the silence in the car. He had acted all flirty when they were on their way there but all of a sudden his mood had changed and she could not wrap her mind around it.
“Are you okay?” she finally managed to bring herself to say.
“Yeah, I am,” he said shortly as if he had been expecting the question and he was eager to answer it.
“You do not seem to be, you know you can share with me too”
“I said I am fine” his voice sounded firm.
“You just told me this morning that couples were to share their worries with each other and no do not give me that bull crap of you being fine. You are not fine. If you were you won’t be reacting that way to me” she said all at once and then took a breath.
“Jessica, can you please drop it?” he asked.
She opened her mouth up to speak but she decided against it. So she was to trust him but he could not do the same with her? He would go on hiding ten situations from her.
“Can you drop me off somewhere here, I will find my way to the restaurant” she said suddenly.
Xavier did not expect her to say something like that so he kept driving because he thought she was not serious.
“Xavier park the car now and drop me off,” she said making her voice sound firm enough. She did not want to be in the same space with him while she was worrying about him, he was not trusting her enough to share anything with her. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
“Jessica, calm down…” he began to say.
“I do not want to listen to anything you have to say, so please drop me off and let me go to work. I have a lot to do today and it seems like I am already late”
Xavier parked the car and she removed her seatbelt. “Do not think of picking me up today, I’ll be late and I want to go on my own” she said getting off and slamming the door. As she got off she watched the car race into the main road.
Jessica watched as the car rushed into the street and got lost in the numerous cars. She felt her blood boil and she gritted her teeth. How dare he drop her off here?
She called a taxi and it took her to the restaurant for the first part of work she could not concentrate as her mind kept going back to Xavier. Although she was pissed at him she could not help but worry about him and why his mold suddenly changed.
Her phone chimed on the table. She has been trying her best to curate the perfect menu for her restaurant. It was Xavier and he was asking for his lunch. Her eyes flew up to the clock. It was an hour left to lunchtime.
She stood up and then sat back down when she realized. Why was he demanding lunch after the way he treated her this morning and yet his text had no atom of repentance in them? She found the nearest restaurant to his office that did delivery.
She ordered his meal and asked it be delivered to him and told him to pick up his lunch from the front desk because she had had it delivered. He had the audacity to ask for lunch after the way he had treated her and he did not even bother with an apology.
She narrowed her eyes when her phone vibrated and his name flashed on the screen. She chuckled to herself at how she saved his name. Mr Xavier Delgado. She waited for the call to disconnect before she tried to concentrate on what it was she was doing.
The phone screen flashed on again and he was calling once again. She sighed and it picked up putting the phone to her ears.
“How can I help you, Mr. Delgado,” she said trying to sound as annoyed as she could be.
“You are having food delivered? That was not our agreement yesterday” he chimed.
“How can we have an agreement when you don’t know how to honor your part of it?” she asked annoyed.
Was he not supposed to call to apologize? His ego must be the size of the entire city because how could he be talking as if he was not the one in the wrong?
“You said we should lean on each other since we were a couple now but apparently that rule only applies to me” she ranted on when he said nothing.
“I mean, it was so obvious that you had a foul mood but why did you think you would have to take it out on me? I just wanted to share in whatever was wrong with you but it seems….”
“I am sorry,” he said cutting her off.
“What?”
“I am sorry”
