Chapter 36 Bad Woman
“Mr. Stuart, haven’t I already explained this to you?” Ranita didn’t want to repeat herself, as telling lies too often could lead to inconsistencies.
“Please get in the car!” Ranita opened the door for Brendon, but he held up his umbrella. “You go ahead! I’ll put away the umbrella.”
As a gentleman, that was indeed what he should do.
Ranita got into the car and handed Brendon a handkerchief from her bag. His suit was custom-made by hand and using tissues after getting wet would leave some debris behind. Therefore, Ranita always had two handkerchiefs in her bag for taking care of Brendon’s needs. She really was more competent than a nanny when it came to looking after him.
The car quickly arrived at the auction house. After getting out of the car, Brendon handed Ranita back her handkerchief and said, “I can’t reach my shoulder blade.”NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
Ranita hesitated for a moment before accepting it since it was business-related anyway and gently wiped away any water droplets on his back.
“All done!” As she spoke, she noticed that his tie was crooked and instinctively reached over to straighten it out, “Your tie is crooked.”
Diligent as usual, she seemed like yesterday’s angry Ranita never existed; perhaps that had only been an illusion on his part.
His soft fingers slid over his Adam’s apple inadvertently. An unfamiliar yet secretive emotion suddenly broke through within him. He wanted to grasp onto it tightly and carefully figure things out but was abruptly interrupted by someone else.
“Brother! You finally made it!” Holly wore a Chanel ladylike dress with a designer purse slung over her arm as she rushed towards Brendon with a beaming smile while pushing Ranita several steps away from them both.
“What are you doing here?” Brendon remained cold towards Holly just like how he treated everyone else around him.
“My friend Anna said she came with her mother today because they wanted me to accompany them at the auction house so I came along!” Holly mentioned Anna who happened to be Mrs. Cather’s daughter whom Holly met when studying abroad years ago.
Mentioning Anna caused Holly’s eyes to narrow smugly at Ranita!
She had said a lot of bad things about Ranita on the phone. She was so close to Anna, she would definitely mention it to her mother Mrs. Cather and if Mrs. Cather got a bad impression, let’s see what Ranita could do!
Ranita frowned and immediately guessed something.
In the reception room of the auction house, Ranita met her VIP guest for this time, Mrs. Cather, and her daughter Anna. Anna probably knew her and looked at her curiously as soon as they met before whispering in Mrs. Cather’s ear, “Mom, that’s the bad woman Holly was talking about…”
“Anna, mind your manners,” Mrs. Cather interrupted her but when she looked at Ranita she held up her head high with a scrutinizing gaze.
“Mrs. Cather, Miss Anna! I am responsible for receiving you!” Ranita had a talent for language; she spoke English and Arabic fluently and also knew some Italian.
Anna looked embarrassed; she didn’t expect that what they were just discussing would be heard clearly.
“I’m sorry my daughter wasn’t very polite just now.” Mrs. Cather nodded lightly then changed the subject directly, “This is Mr. Stuart, right?”
Her attitude was arrogant but it didn’t help much.
“Mrs. Cather! I’ve heard so much about you! I’m Brendon!” Brendon leaned closer to Ranita then lowered his voice asking, “What did they say just now?”
“They didn’t say anything!” Ranita casually replied then immediately introduced Brendon along with several other guests to Mrs. Cather in translation.
After chatting for a while, Brendon led his group of clients on tour around the auction house while Ranita followed them all along which made her calves almost cramp from exhaustion.
During their break, Ranita went straight to the bathroom where she took off her shoes and twisted her ankle against the wall before secretly rubbing her sore waist.
Brendon’s child was such a sissy!
“Hoo!” Ranita took a break and was about to put on her shoes when suddenly there came a violent sound of the door being opened…
