A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 16 Disgusting People

Three days later, at the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Ranita and Brendon submitted their divorce application, followed by a one-month cooling-off period. If either party changes their mind, the divorce will be invalid.

Outside, Shannon rushed to Brendon’s side like a little bird with a bouquet of red roses in her arms. She wore a white dress that made her look like she was getting married.

“Ranita, thank you so much!” Shannon handed the red roses to Ranita. “I didn’t know what kind of flowers you liked, so I bought them according to my own preferences.”

“Brendon, I bought flowers for Ranita. Will you buy me some too?” Shannon coquettishly leaned towards Brendon.

Ranita handed the red roses back to Shannon. “No need, I don’t like red roses.”

“Ranita, you’re so cold!” Shannon pouted.

Ranita was speechless. Did she have to be grateful and enthusiastic towards someone who had interfered in her marriage?

Shannon complained to Brendon with an aggrieved expression, “Brendon, did I do something wrong? Ranita seems not to like me!”

“No way! Ranita is straightforward and doesn’t beat around the bush when she speaks. Don’t take it personally,” said Brendon.

“Really? I thought Ranita was still angry about what happened before! I feel really guilty…” As she spoke, Shannon looked as if she might burst into tears any moment now and clung onto Brendon while gazing at him with pure desire written all over her face.

Ranita felt suffocated in her chest.

“I have something else going on; I’m leaving now.” Ranita hailed a taxi and left.

She ran into Amiya on the first floor of Stuart’s Corp when she reached there.

“Mrs. Stuart!” Ranita nodded politely, but Amiya responded with a disdainful hum.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Ranita didn’t get angry either; they could each go their own way. Getting upset would only harm her own well-being.

However, Amiya stopped her and said, “Wait a moment! I’d like to invite you for a coffee.”

“Turner, push me along to the café and order two cups of coffee.” Amiya didn’t care about Ranita’s opinion at all; she just decided everything herself.

Ranita sat down calmly and asked, “Mrs. Stuart, do you have any advice?”

“Last night, Brendon had a bit too much to drink and unintentionally mistreated Shannon. Even though you’ve filed for divorce, legal ties haven’t been dissolved yet, and Brendon is a responsible person. If you don’t have someone by your side who can take care of you, he might have concerns,” Amiya spoke with an air of condescension and got straight to the point. “How about I introduce someone to you? Turner John is someone I trust a lot. If you marry Turner, you’ll still receive support from my family in the future. Brendon can rest assured, and so can we.”

The Turner that Amiya highly valued was Robert John’s son, the butler of Boulderland Mansion and Amiya’s personal driver who was currently buying coffee for them!

It wasn’t that Ranita looked down on the Stuart family’s driver, but rather she had accidentally discovered that Turner had been fooling around with one of the maids in Boulderland Mansion while pretending to have no girlfriend in front of Amiya.

After being teased by Shannon and Amiya one after another, Ranita couldn’t hold back her anger any longer.

“Since he’s your preferred candidate, why not keep him as your own son-in-law? It wouldn’t be appropriate for an outsider like me to steal him away.”

“I have already divorced Brendon. We are now going our separate ways and I have nothing to do with the Stuart family anymore. Nodding my head in agreement is already my greatest courtesy; please don’t trouble me again in the future, Mrs. Stuart.”

Ranita was actually quite sharp-witted with her words. She had previously refrained from arguing with the old woman, out of respect for Brendon’s reputation, but now that she had no ties to the Stuart family, she felt more empowered to speak her mind.

“You!” Amiya was so angry that her lips trembled; how could a servant like Turner be matched up as her son-in-law? In her eyes, servants were only suitable for people like Ranita who were second-hand goods!
