Chapter 210
Chapter 210
The coffee spilled all over the living room floor as Anthony collapsed on the ground. Amy had just checked his pulse and knew his heart condition was severe. She didn’t dare to delay and quickly gave him an emergency cardiac drug. Then, together with George, she carried him to the bed and unbuttoned his collar to ease his breathing. After doing all that, Amy was somewhat out of breath with sweats covering her forehead.
George looked at her worriedly. “Amy, are you okay?”
I’m fine,” she assured
When Amy had given birth, she had gone through a premature delivery with severe hemorrhaging. Fortunately, both her child and herself survived despite the distance from the hospital. However, her health had deteriorated significantly since then. Moving Anthony, who was over 3 feet 10 inches tall, had drained all her energy.
Amy didn’t dare to rest. She fetched her stethoscope to check on Anthony’s heart. However, his condition was beyond her expertise. All she could do was delay the symptoms and ease his pain.
After the examination, Amy turned to George and asked, “Dad, could you please make another bowl of that medicine
“Of course, I’ll go right away. The latter left quickly. He had seen his daughter die young and didn’t want the same fate for Anthony.
With George gone, the room was now left with Amy and the unconscious Anthony. She gazed quietly at the latter’s face. It had been a long time. She had thought they would never cross paths again and had worked hard to forget everything about him over the past year.
But when she saw Anthony that day while gathering herbs, all her memories surged back, causing her to tremble even as she held her little son. Those terrible memories made her turn and flee. If it hadn’t been for her son’s cries waking her from her daze, she might never have looked back In the living room earlier, when her son had called our “Daddy” as his first words, she was so shocked that she forgot to breathe, but thankfully, Anthony had lost his memory. Amy thought perhaps it was fate that wanted them to meet and arranged things this way. But his heart condition was severe, and without immediate treatment, he wouldn’t survive long.
If her grandfather hadn’t passed away, he might have found a solution. But now that he was gone, and since she had never focused on medicine before, her knowledge in this field was superficial. The family’s medical tome was nowhere to be found. She also couldn’t think of anyone else who could save Anthony right now,
Just then, George returned with the medicine. He placed the bowl on the table and said, “This young man’s heart condition seems critical. I heard there’s a reclusive healer nearby who is known for saving people from the brink of death. Maybe he could help”
Having lived here for a while but staying mostly indoors, Amy wasn’t familiar with the surroundings. She looked up and asked George for more details.
“I don’t know much either. The healer is very mysterious and only helps those who aren’t wicked. I suggested it because this young man doesn’t seem like a bad person, George said
“Okay, understood. Thank you, Dad,” Amy said. Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
George gave her a curious look. “Why are you thanking me?”
Amy, unsure of how to respond, blushed. She hurriedly thought of an excuse. “It just slipped out”
Seeing George’s suspicious look, she hurriedly changed the subject, “Dad. I handle things here. Could you check on the baby so Mom doesn’t
strain her back?”
“Right,” George said and left.
Amy smiled as she watched his retreating figure. George and Layla had secluded themselves here and lived a loving, simple life. It was something Amy felt she could never have in her life.
Sighing, Amy picked up the bowl of medicine. Despite her fear of Anthony, he was her child’s father, and she couldn’t let him die. Anthony was still unconscious, but the medicine needed to be administered immediately. She tried spooning the liquid into his mouth, but it spilled everywhere along the corners of his mouth except inside.
Amy’s patience was exhausted after a few tries. She got up and went to the kitchen to find a funnel. Inserting the thin end into Anthony’s mouth, she carefully fed the medicine through it.
At first, it went smoothly with Anthony swallowing the medicine reflexively. But as he began to wake and open his eyes, the liquid went down into his trachea, causing him to choke and cough violently. Amy was startled. She quickly removed the funnel and helped him sit against the bed.
As she bent over, her light veil brushed against Anthony’s face. Anthony’s brow furrowed slightly as a faint scent reached his nose, causing his hear to tremble. Unable to control himself, he looked up and saw Amy’s beautiful face and the scar she had carefully hidden

His head began to hunt again. He felt a strange sense of familiarity with Amy, and every time he saw her, a strange feeling rose in his heart. There was affection, guilt, pity, and possessiveness, all tangled together. Those feelings grew even stronger now as he saw her face.
Before he could react, he instinctively reached up, brushing his fingers against the scar on her face. It must have hurt a lot, he murmured.
Amy was about to take a pillow and put it behind his back, trying to make him comfortable. But the touch on her face startled her, and she threw the pillow away. She stepped back and trembled. Realizing what he had done, Anthony quickly stood up and apologized Tm sorry, I don’t know why I did that. You seem so familiar to me, like we’ve met before.”
Hearing his words, Amy tried to steady and calm herself. “You’re mistaken. It’s impossible that I know you, she said curtly and left the room.
Anthony stood there and stared at her departing figure. Amy went straight back to her room. As soon as her child saw her, he reached out eagerly for her.
It was already dinnertime, and the rain outside continued to pour. Layla handed the little boy to Amy and said. “You take care of him. Your father and I will prepare dinner
“Okay,” Amy replied. She placed the little boy on the floor, holding his tiny hands as he toddled around the room. Lately, he had been eager to walk. insisting on moving around whenever he was awake, His unsteady steps meant Amy had to stoop constantly to support him, and it was taking a toll on her back..
