Chapter Ninty-One
Chapter Ninty-One
When Mr. Orlando brought the car to a stop, he stared into the V mirror for a while, watching Rome.
Then he let out a sad sigh and said, "Boss, we have reached the company."
For a moment, Rome said nothing, and after a few more silent seconds, he turned his focus on the car
windshield and mumbled, "What are your plans for me today, Axel?"
Suddenly, his phone began buzzing, and he answered the call.
"Good morning, Mr. Ford! Are you ready to keep your side of the deal?" Axel's optimistic voice echoed
into his ear, causing Rome to clench his jaws.
"How's my wife!?" Rome asked, struggling against his anger.
"Still in one piece like I promise, and I can keep it that way if you play your part right today. After your
meeting, a few minutes from now, leave the company, head back to the hotel, and wait for my next
order."
"Wait! What? I thou..."
"You thought wrong, Rome. My plans for you and your father will not manifest in one day. Don't worry,
when you get back to the hotel like an obedient man, I will send you a photo of your lovely wife to cheer
you up!"
Frowning, Rome held his breath for the longest, striving to stay calm. Then he slowly exhaled and
uttered, "Okay. I will play along with your sick game, just keep my wife unharmed."
"Mmmh, that's the plan," Axel said from the other end of the line before ending the call.
After staring at his phone screen for his K looked back at Rome and said, "Boss, I just got word that
Axel's men haven't left the hotel yet."
"So that means he has someone else following us." Rome coldly uttered, clutching his fist. "It's no
wonder now that he was so quick in movement. That because he got a bunch of men during his dirty
work, not just one."
Releasing a sigh, a frown crossed Rome's face, and he mumbled, "I really underestimated my
opponent this time."
Then after blankly staring into space for a while, Rome pushed the door open and stepped down from
the car, gazing at the glass building in front of him with a touch of anger in his eyes.
The enormous yard was quiet for a while. Then a KOMBAT T98 suddenly drove towards the gate,
crashing into it and breaking it open before speeding into the fence.
"What the hell!" One of the guys standing watch at the house door mumbled with his eyelids spread
open.
Then his focus swayed toward the SUV and he watched with a frown on his face as Blaze got out of
the vehicle.
Afterward, a bunch of dudes stepped out, wearing black leather jackets with dark blue under t-shirts,
dust black ripped jeans, and dark brown boots.
"Hey, fellows. We are looking for Richard. I believe that he is in there. So if you guys can allow us to get
him, we will be on our way, and no one will get hurt." Blaze said with a cunning smile on his face.
“We will need you all to back off, get back into your little vehicle, and drive back to where you came
from before someone gets hurt, really badly,” The guy said, maintaining eye contact with Blaze.
"You don't seem to get it, do you! Since that's the case, let's forget about useless talks and skip to the
good part, shall we?!"
"If you say so."
Rage swept through Rome as he gazed at the two officers and an older-looking fellow, standing in his
office with a hostile expression on their faces.
“What can I do for you guys?” Rome asked, giving it his all to stay calm. Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Good morning, Mr. Ford. I am Mathew, and we are from the criminal court. We are here concerning
your partnership with NewWorld Incorporation.” The older looking-guy said, taking a seat.
“What about NewWorld Incorporation?”
“We believe that the incorporation belongs to persons suspected of committing hideous crime outside
of the state and running underground illegal gang activities while using the company as a mask to
cover up their deals."
Keeping silent, Rome's eyes seemed a bit colder as he intensely gazed at the three men.
“We know this is not pleasant news. But we are here to ask you since you are the only known partner
of NewWorld incorporation currently available.” The other officer stated. "Who are the other two
partners you are working with, Mr. Ford?"
“Except for Amara, I don't know the other person.” Rome calmly uttered.
“So you are telling us that you are involved with a company and don't know all the partners. Right...”
Mathew said, frowning slightly. "And where is Amara?'
For a moment, Rome kept calm and silent as he gazed directly at both of the officers. Then he sighed
and said, " I don't know."
"Mr. Ford, you are not helping your case here. Do you understand that this could lead to civil forfeiture!
A legal process that enables the government to seize all your properties and other assets?" Mathew
said with anger burning in his eyes.
“Thank you for this information. But I honestly don't know where Amara is and who the other partner of
New World Inc. is.” Rome calmly uttered with a straight face.
“Mr. Ford, I regret saying this, but since you took over from your father, your reputation hasn't been the
finest." An officer uttered, pausing for a moment.
Then he sighed and said, "There has been quite a few disturbing news about you. Yet, we still want to
give you the benefit of the doubt that you are not involved with the crimes of NewWorld incorporation.
But you have to give us something to work with here!"
“My answer remains the same. I don't know." Rome said with only one person on his mind, "Catherine."
“Since you wouldn't willingly cooperate with us, then we will be back, and I'm sorry to say this, but the
next time we come, we wouldn't be this friendly," Mathew said, waking from the seat with a scowl on his
face.
Frustrated, Rome watched the three men leave his office. Then the door opened again, and K walked
inside.
“He... Axel wants me to lose it all!” Rome said, rubbing his brows. "Or should I say, he wants my father
to lose everything that he has ever worked for in his entire life!"
“That bastard!” K harshly uttered, clutching his fist.
“From the very beginning, ruining my reputation, having me involved in messes, it was all so I could
have a damaged image, enough to make people believe that I have some involvement with whatever
mess he and Amara are in.”
“What are we going to do? Should we tell the big boss?"
“Axel kept me away from my father for a reason. If he gets involved and tries to make this go away,
Catherine's safety will be put to risk. I can not have that happening."
For a while, K didn't speak, wishing so desperately that he could punch Axel in the face. Then he
locked eyes with Rome and mumbled, "So what now?"
"I guess... I have to confess to crimes that I know nothing about and give up everything if I want
Catherine to return to me safely." Rome mumbled, resting back on his seat as he squeezed his eyelids
shut.
